Hell yeahs
Can I get a what what. lol looks like a blast
Cant wait for this guys!
For future comps is it possible to make it graphics score that counts as I can't help but think Broadwell-E will have a big advantage in Cloud Gate
Is cloud gate very cpu bound?
Only because of the cpu test and just looking at some gtx 950 results and SS skylake is 30994 with gpu about 1500mhz while Broadwell-e at 4.5g and 1340mhz scores 35261
Can someone quickly test with same frequency on the CPU? I guess we can just disallow BWD-E
Going from 3.9ghz to 4.4ghz
oh and these are 950 results i was comparing which is haswell-e vs cold skylake
isonzo`s 3DMark - Cloud Gate score: 35261 marks with a GeForce GTX 950
Traktor`s 3DMark - Cloud Gate score: 30994 marks with a GeForce GTX 950
If you have low coast competition allow only 2 or 4 core CPU. Maybe 4/8 CPU @ max 5Ghz
This sounds great but I was under the impression basically all of the 3d benches were cpu bound in some way or another, so if you want a cheap competition I would imagine you'd have to limit the cpu in some way at least.
I think the cctf has come to a solution which has no cpu bottleneck on really old systems which has also been posted on comp page already
The competition is specifically designed that the GPU should be the bottleneck on a modern system.
A cpu clock or core limit should not be required when the card is as low end as this.
Ah right nice, I don't really know anything about 3D really and just assumed a more powerful cpu would mean a higher score regardless of GPU.
This isnt a 980Ti
if only gpu the score counts i am agry to not ban any cpu.
but whit physics score i vote for ban all the k and x cpu's.
edit :
i see now thad ther is no cloud gate stage.
but stil i vote for all cheap not only the gpu
Some people probably dont even have non k cpus so that's not a good idea. With a card this low end it will be fine. I mean it would be nice if everyone used a 4 core but it shouldnt matter too much.
Also look at the stages. With Catzilla even with 980 ti you can get a great score with a 4 core cpu.
3d01 doesnt scale with cores, all you need is 2 cores and remember this gpu is very weak.
and gpupi is 1 of the only benches we have that cpu doesnt have a big influence on scores.
Obviously they planned this out nicely. They used a very cheap gpu and picked benchmarks that dont really scale with cpu cores. And since the gpu is low end cpu speed shouldnt make a tremendous difference.
You should be able to do fine in this comp with a 6100 even
There is a comp page?
I cant find it.
OC eSports
don't panic if gpupi not works.changing batch and reduction did the trik for me.
trayd this after 3 os and 4 drivers
and gpupi detect the 710 gk208 as 710
quiet you that's meant to be a secret but yeah 1b won't run unless batch size 5m or lower
The gk208 version is the only 710 to exist and what they have showing as 710 is actually a 705 which is OEM only
whil ther be a gpupi version whit the corect detection of the card? or do we Need to edit like now?
latest gpupi Version is 2.3.2
skulstation`s GPUPI - 1B score: 7min 29sec 686ms with a GeForce GT 710
I was going to say edit but people aren't going to be able to sub full stop in gpupi stage do I've messaged zeropluszero about it
wear can we find the background?
Sigh - it will be available soon
Is anyone else having an issue with catzilla no matter what I do whether I stay Default settings or I overclock I always get the same score
i don't have this problem.but your 847 is way to low.i have +2k on stock gpu
Can i use a 710M or only normaly 710?
That's what I was thinking and no matter if I overclock I still get the same score :-(
Any idea how long till we have a comp background?
Monday most likely

Sorry guys
Great, thank you, Pieter
Thx.let the fun begin
Hello Guys, I'm sorry with my questions but i can't find a rule topic for this comp. There is any hardware limitation ? We can use every CPU ? Full freq ? LN2 ?
Thank you
No limitations on cooling and cpu, the general rules apply though - no ES and no unreleased hardware, like always for competitions. What you see at the stages are the limitations and rules
Thank you Websmile !
Yeah, the rules are very simple:
Step 1: Grab a GT 710
Step 2: Volt-mod it
Step 3: ?
Step 4: win competition
So what kind of cooling are people considering? I'm getting DICE for Saturday. I'm just gonna cover the card in DICE. Not going to use any interface liquid just going to keep the heatsink covered in DICE. My card already does well over 1500 core clock on air so I'm hoping for 1700mhz with cold.
1500 on air sounds really nice, havent tested mine yet, grabbed an evga 1gb. Gonna go with ln2 most likely. My last "cheaper" card 960 didnt like going past around -60c and I didnt have enough experience to find a cold slow mod or cold shut down mod. So dice temps should be really competitive.
Stock heat sink with dice should work pretty well or at least it did with a r5 230
Are odd ball GT 710's allowed too? For mine some specs don't get fully detected by gpu-z and it also has 16 ROPs & 16 TMU's.
The engraving on the chip says GK208-203-B1.
As long as it's GK208 and shows gt 710 in gpu-z it's fine
All my cards are GK208-203-B1 but some might be GK208-301-A1 on the market only diffrence is B1 has a gdd3/gddr5 controller instead just gddr3
As far as I'm concerned, if it says GT710 in the GPU-Z window, its good with me.
I've actually got a card that does 1600mhz+ with ambient cooling so I'd like to think 1800mhz on dice
Did somwan notic any kind of ocp above 1,45vcore?
nice card newlif you have whit 1600+
Nope but scaling is pretty poor past 1.45v but that's normal for Kelper
And thanks, the msi card I got is a beast when overvolted
Edit: When you hit OCP the card will basically shutoff and system crash with no bsod or anything
hm than i have a other problem whit my msi card.
obove 1,45v - 1,5 it happens some time thad 3dm01 freze for a sec , and remain ware it stops.but at lower fps
no driver crash , gpu-z schow the +1400mhz
stil stock cooling whit a 120mm blowing at it.
next step whil be a geto tec setup.ln2 suplaier can not deliver ( vacation next weak , work on the depo and work on the highway )
Seems like it could be the result of some kind of instability
What are people getting on the memory clock? I can't seem to go over 1200mhz and I can't figure out how to get memory voltage raised on the ASUS card(no datasheets
). I'm considering using the DRAM VRM chunk of my Sabertooth(I'm working on making it a power board) and just using that to power the VRAM.
BTW here's the ASUS card Vcore datasheet: http://www.ubiq-semi.com/en-article-upi-473-1458
The one asus card I had did 1260 at stock volts and a huge thanks for the datasheet because I looked far and wide for that but it confirmed what I thought the fb pin was
No problem I know what a PITA all the uPi datasheets are to find. This is site is so far the most reliable for finding uPi pinouts. I also found pinouts for the 9511 and 9509 chips that Nvidia uses on the new 10xx cards on that site.
My Gigabyte cards scaled pretty poorly with volts but my msi card on the other hand scaled really well
Best mems so far for me are nanya on Asus card
this is a brilliant competition. i have bought one specially for this
I did 1200mhz on my Nanya ASUS.
Just vmodded the core on mine and tested it out with GPUPI, got a pretty decent clock.
1575MHz @ 1.4V w/ stock air :7min 9.5sec. Mems (Samsung) on this card suck though, they only do 1100 @ stock volts - I need to vmod these next to bring up my catzilla score.
if i put my phase cooler ontop the stock heatsink with a thermal pad or paste would that still count as stock air?
if your going above 50-60c that voltage will start to create instability. With my 780 I was doing like 1.55v on water but at around 55c it becomes really unstable with a lot of artifacts.
There is no restricton on cooling, so do whatever you like.
What kind of Nanya Ram is on the Asus cards? The Ram on my MSI is Nanya NT5CC128M16IP-DI and it needs 1.66 volts for only 1110Mhz. Do the Asus cars have a different chip or is it just better binning?
Same thing plus my 1g msi card is samsung S-die and no idea why clocks are better but at a guess it could be the Asus cards have a pci-e 8x size card as do gainward
Planning on picking up a card this week maybe, haven't done any proper benching for quite a while and haven't touched a soldering iron to a gpu for even longer, looking forward to getting back into it all with this
Was probably going to get a Gigabyte and EVGA card for me and a friend, anyone had any issues with either?
No problems with Gigabyte but the 3 cards I've got it had poor voltage scaling while asus and msi scaled very well and no Evga card so can't say about that one
Oh and best of luck
Actually I was wrong as my asus card is Nt5cb128m16ip-ek
That's Samsung (SEC) T-Die (last letter of part number) with a manufacture date of 1st week of 2016 (3 numbers next to SEC) and is BC package size (BC being small) and 11 Bin (1833mhz at a guess)
Yeah, don't trust Gpu-z 100% especially with gddr/ddr3 and funnily my Asus card is Nanya but shows as Samsung
I picked up the evga 1gb card. The vcore mod is same as the gigabyte card. Mine has sammy mem.
Having trouble with the mem mod though, not so easy to figure out. The choke for my memory is so small.
If I posted a pic would someone be able to help.
It looks like the same layout as the gigabyte card, I have similar ic's next to the 2r2 part but there not the uP like gigabyte.
Is there a way to figure it out with a multimeter myself?
Test around the ic for resistors connected to ground and when you've done that test the resistance which should be something like 500ohm-5k (could be higher or lower)
Post a picture as well as that will help
This explains why the Ram on Asus cards is a bit better. The -ek means it is rated for 933 Mhz, while mine is only rated for 800Mhz. Also the memory on my MSI was designed for 1.35V, but MSI decided to run it at 1.5V
The ram on my msi 2gb sucks. I tried a msi 1gb but it was a low noise version and the vmods weren't the same so I return it. The thing is that low noise 1gb msi card did 1210mhz ram clock with stock volts. The stock mem clock for that card was 900mhz where my current one is 800mhz and struggles to hit 1100mhz with added votls
I have a Gigabyte one that the memory stocks to 800mhz but that one can still do 1180mhz although it identifies as a gt 730 in gpu z
Today I tried dry ice cooling for the first time, but I had a couple weird issues. It worked great for GPUPI, but as soon as I tried a 3D application with OC, the screen started flashing black a couple times for a second or so before it then crashed. And whenever the GPU was still cold, it would boot, but the driver wasn't able to recognize the GPU and there were some red artifacts. When booting in safe mode, the artifacfts were gone. Also the temp readout was complete garbage, as it would show temperatures as low as -240°C in idle and under load about -140°C.
Has anyone experienced similar issues or knows a fix for the boot problem?
Edit: The PC is not crashing, the display is just loosing connection. The CPU temp on the post code display indicates that the benchmarks are finishing just fine.

Nice mate :celebration:
awesome gallery thanks for sharing that
Tips for Asus 710gt 1gb vgpu voltage read point? Found one, back side of the card aprox where is two caps on gpu side. Gives reading 0.956 already bumbed up to 1v. Also one other boint gives steady 1.156 under load and under 1.08x when idle. But trimming pot wont change anything.
Thank you!
Might be my vgpu mod wont work, or soldered incorrectly.
Edit, seems like it's working. I thought that vgpu stovk is 1.12 as vid says.
show some pictures of your mod, maybe we spot something.
Cant wait to bench my card this weekend, looking really nice on air.
Its done same way that in newlife's guide. thanks to him
Funny, i tought that i did mod wrong, but seems that my pot isn't fines quality. Takes quite lot of turns until started happening, i even double checked the resistance. But im up on unning now. 1.15vgpu and 1440 mhz on gpu. Furmark stable. Running on air.
Thank you so much! I get same reading, from otherside of the card. Thanks alot!
such an nice community! Happy benching guys!
So far Asus 1gb model
1591 /1191
Takes 1.4v for gpu. Im still on stock heatsink. Cooled by 120mm fan. temps under load are 48c
Off to sleep now. Tomorrow, memory and maxing out gpu with 120fan. After that gonna test air conditioner ghetto mod. No tweaks.
I've just quickly edited this pic to show the mem mod which should read 3k ohm and I'd say 50k VR to ground
Mem mod is yellow and read point is red
Nice find @newlife !
I think i might have accidentally killed my Card. Soldered vgpu & vmem read points. Everything was fine. No shorts, covered with hotglue. I dont have any clue what might have killed it. Cleaned with alcohol whole card, mods removed. Compressed air etc.
Boot and card is bricked. vgpu sits 0.9v and vmem 0.6v. Have to check tomorrow again is there any scratches or tin drops or anything. I might get new card in time. Maybe.
Anyway, i was dumb enough and did not save any screenshots. Just had so many hours tweaking with 3dmark01 and best was 60400 points. Ahh well, lesson learned.
Damn that looked to be a half decent card and by the sounds of things the memory pwm somehow got damaged as it's running a fail-safe voltage
Thanks, rechecked the mod area. No tin drops nothing. Took pots. On vmem pot hair or two copper wires was poking out from hotglue and ground wire just next to them. Checked on multimeter, resistance almost zero.
Might be recoverable?
Did some checks on mem pwm. If i remember right the resistance between ground and vmem mod spot was below 3k ohm.
now it's 8.2k ohm aprox. So, gotta find where the broken resistor is maybe?
this is what i got measuring those resistances. and resistance from vmem spot to ground is 8.25k
The top of that 8.5k one should read pretty much 0ohm between ground as it is a ground and the bottom should read about 2.95k ohm
Thanks! I will look at it again if i find something. Edit, might had bad solder. Resoldered that bottom end. Now getting correct resistance. Will give it a try now.
*fingers crossed*
yay! that bad solder actually saved my card.
It's up and running, thank you so much newlife!
That's awesome and good to hear
So a friend and I just tried the vcore mod on our first Giga card, and it looked like it was all good, however when we plugged the card in and tried changing the voltage nothing seemed to happen.
We were using GPU-Z for the voltage measurement for ease as it was 0.01 out compared to the multimeter.
Eventually whilst turning the pot the screen went crazy pink for a second then black, a PC restart and everything seemed fine again.
Any ideas?
Gpu doesn't read the real volts, just what it thinks
Oops
Thanks!
From a quick manual check it's currently running at 1.28v so clearly the mod is working!
Edit:
Anyone have any luck with the stock cooler on the gigabyte board, swiftly realising it's fairly terrible
Going to try and bodge my phase onto it next week since temperatures are definitely holding it back at the moment (only at 1.2v!)
For some reason, i cannot get gpupi running correctly on my setup. Fresh win 10 installation and 32b gpupi takes like 1 hour per loop.
week ago i had fresh win 8 install and it worked just fine. May have to hook up my card to different mobo & cpu setup. and instal win7 & win8.
We only have to run 1B for this
