        About HWBOT – HWBOT History

HWBOT started as a school task, but due to large success development continued after graduation. For the first 18 months the HWBOT crew existed solely from Richba5tard, a former Madshrimps reviewer. As popularity tripled each 6 months, additional crew members were necessary.

Things really sped up when Mtzki joined, intellectual father of some key HWBOT features like HWBoints. Once Saucy joined, a walking video card library, the video card database grew significantly, making HWBOT an excellent resource for video card specifications. Sadhiq recently joined to maintain the processor specifications, at which he’s doing a great job too. Massman was our primary result moderator, who looks after the validity and consistency of the submitted benchmark result, removing all cheaters instantly.

June 19, 2005 – Frederik Colardyn registers a domain for the java application MBot which monitors forum threads and updates forum overclocking rankings. HWBOT is born.

April 2006 – Mtzki, the intellectual father of the HWBoints algoritms, joins HWBOT. Results are now moderated manually and the GUI of the site is getting better every day.

July 14, 2006 – Mtzki makes note of the what will turn out to be the foundations of the first HWBoints algoritm.

October 8th, 2006 – Massman joins the HWBOT staff. Golden age begins, according to Massman. Reign of terror according to many overclockers.

November 3, 2006 – First revision of HWBOT HWBoints air. Xtremesystems first #1 team, K|ngp|n first #1 overclocker!

Novermber 9, 2006 – HWBOT releases the first version of the forum signature creator.

June 28, 2007 – HWBOT Rev2, dubbed ‘Awesome-o’, sees the daylight. Tons of new features are added, including an updated revision of the HWBoints algoritm.

Since October 1st 2009, Massman was working on the development of HWBOT full time, supported by RichBa5tard who is still taking care of the coding side of this project. Christian Ney and Websmile were handling the result moderation and organizing the numerous competitions. Bundling forces with OCTV HWBOT organised several World Wide events, baptised as the World Tour. Each time ending with a grand Final at Casekings HQ in Berlin, Germany

End of 2017 Massman quit HWBOT to join EK Waterblocks. HWBOT continued but lost its captain.

October  30, 2009 – first HWBOT Country Cup 2009
December 31, 2009 – HWBOT Rev3 launched. Again, the HWBoints algoritm underwent some updates

Beginning of 2019 a simplified version of HWBOT was launched under the name Classic HWBOT, being less focussed on  competition algorithms and it's the version we know up till today. Early 2020 HWBOT was procured by Roman Hartung. Due to Corona the paperwork and handover got delayed to Q3 2020. Since the beginning of 2021 HWBOT is being continuously improved for faster performance. 2021 wil be a transition year for HWBOT, especially due to the necessity to iron out a lot of bugs.

January, 2019 – Frederik Colardyn releases HWBOT Classic, a slightly simplified version HWBOT.

December 19, 2019 – Frederik Colardyn  puts HWBOT up for sale due to lack of time to maintain and continue development on his school project.

January 8, 2020 – Roman Hartung  together with his Thermal Grizzly business associate Eike Salow close the deal  with the previous owner. Thanks to Corona, all paperwork gets massively delayed and access to the source code is only transferred end of Q3.

January 17, 2021 – Lots of source code bugs have been addressed, new style rules introduced, new benchmarks added, obsolete/non supported Benchmarks  removed  and a new 2021 distribution of the Global Points installed. More stuff is to come end of Q1.

Februari 6, 2022 - New simplified Boint system in usage, more details in this forum thread

July, 2022 - Move to a new powerful hosting facility
