A reason to fligh home xD

November 22, 2012 at 8:51:16 AM UTC

Germany going for the title this year? :P

November 22, 2012 at 9:22:03 AM UTC

Stage two is exactly what I like :) Good one!

November 22, 2012 at 12:43:54 PM UTC

ES hardware allowed?

What "different sockets" at stage 4 exactly mean? I can use the same Phenom on AM3 and then on AM2 board for two results?

November 22, 2012 at 12:50:52 PM UTC

ES not allowed (like in any of the competitions).

Socket is determined by the CPU. Bulldozer is AM3+, Thuban is AM3, Phenom I is AM2+ etc

November 22, 2012 at 1:24:43 PM UTC

There is a catch on stage 5 Low-end NVantage

Not so easy to find these cards GeForce GT 320 and GeForce GT 530 even at ebay

According to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_300_Series

The GeForce 300 Series is a family of graphics processing units developed by Nvidia. The first card of this series was launched in November 2009. Similar to the GeForce 100 series, the GeForce 300 series consists of re-branded video cards from the previous generation available only for OEMs

Later that month the company announced the release of the GeForce GT 320, GT 330 and GT 340, available to OEMs only.[6] The Geforce GT 340 is simply a rebadged GT 240, sharing exactly the same specifications, while the GT 320 and 330 are new cards (albeit still based on the previous generation GT200b and G92b architecture).

November 22, 2012 at 1:33:11 PM UTC

I know they are not easy to find ... competitions shouldn't always be easy, right ... ;)

November 22, 2012 at 1:50:09 PM UTC

Yeah, but this time it's almost impossible.

Given the timeframe and time needed for winning an auction on ebay, then shipping to Bulgaria during the holiday season... they will either come here at the end of the competition or even after it.

The other problem is the requirement for 1 result per user and you can't find 5 active extreme overclockers here..or active overclockers in general, that have the required hardware. Same applicable for many countries, but guess that's part of the game and we can't do anything about it.

We don't even have high-end FM2 boards on the market yet and there's no sign of Crosshair V Formula-Z too.

Gigabyte boards are most probably old revisions without or problematic LLC.

All in all, the competition ends for us before it even begins.

so we can run thuban and BD on cvf for exampleand get 2 results?

or we need different boards too?

November 22, 2012 at 3:24:24 PM UTC

This year's edition should be called "Museum of HW" :D

It's hard to find 7xxx, 8xxx alive lol

You know there are collectors around here who have about 10 of each. I only have a pair of 8800 ultras.

I think the best 5 option for this stage are :

- AM3+

- AM3

- AM2+

- FM2

- FM1

If you have the board which support 2 socket for example AM3 & AM3+, you can get 2 result with different proc (AM3 & AM3+) n surely different id too :D [CMIIW]

November 22, 2012 at 5:02:20 PM UTC

I personally don't have any problem with stage 1-4, but that GT 320 and GT 530 stage is going to hurt (Massman, you really know how to 'torture' us overclockers LOL :D :D)

Btw some questions :

1) For the Low-end nVIDIA stage, must we use the desktop version of GT320 and 530? Or can we use the mobile counterpart? (GT 320M for example).

2) by this statement :

form the best possible SuperPI 32M average using five different S775 CPUs

How would you differentiate the CPUs? by it's model number(E8200,E8400,E8500,E8600,E8700)? or By it's codename(Wolfdale,Conroe,Kentsfield,Allendale,Conroe-L) ?

3) Phenom II X4 940BE is counted as AM2+ CPU, right?

Thanks a lot ;)

November 22, 2012 at 5:50:43 PM UTC

who invite me ^^ i have a very nice qx9650 for germany 5900 32m

and some very good memory for 775 but i live in Ireland atm if somebody offers ln2 and location i'm in

November 22, 2012 at 7:54:56 PM UTC

For AMD PI 1M stage, AM2+ and AM3 count as one socket or old K8 DDR2 (AM2) is in the same league as Phenom I? eg:

AM3+: FX series

AM2+ and AM3: Phenom I, Phenom II, Athlon II, Athlon 7xxx

AM2: A64 90nm, 65nm?

or

AM3+: FX series

AM3: Phenom II, Athlon II

AM2+ and AM2: A64 90nm/65nm/Phenom I/Phenom II X4 940/920/810

Someone asked me if he could borrow some of my chips. I do not know how sharing works in competitions like this one, is that not allowed/not fair play or whatever?

November 22, 2012 at 10:39:15 PM UTC

Not NVIDIA again. You gotta be kidding me. Last year was GF200 limitiation and now 3DMark03 Nvidia SLI Challenge and Low-end NVantage.

November 23, 2012 at 2:25:38 AM UTC

No need for different boards - all you need are different CPUs. You are allowed to say thanks to AMD's upgrade-path and use AM2+ boards for an AM2, AM2+, AM3 and AM3+ CPU if you can :D.

I personally don't have any problem with stage 1-4, but that GT 320 and GT 530 stage is going to hurt (Massman, you really know how to 'torture' us overclockers LOL :D :D)

So much complaining. Everything besides the 320 and 530 is dead-easy ... :battle:

Only desktop version is allowed

Differentiation by CPU model, not core.

Trinity and AMD CPUs?

Found the 530, I should stock em up :)

Trinty and AMD CPUs, sure but sensing alot of ATI-AMD hate! :P He didn't even mention Team Cup Nvidia history tour. No love of for the red.

SLI..SLI..SLI.. Never CF?

November 25, 2012 at 1:45:56 AM UTC

See a lot of old subs and no comp backrounds being used. Time for rules 101 again?

November 25, 2012 at 4:11:33 AM UTC

Hello, I've got a question regarding the SLI Challenge. I have a 7900GT and 7900GS which I can SLI If I use riva tuner to make the GS's ID show up as a GT. Would I be allowed to submit a score with the GS and GT and if so should I list it as GS sli or GT sli?

November 25, 2012 at 2:11:46 PM UTC

AM3+ is different from AM3 which is different from AM2+ which is different from AM2 which is different from AM :).

Does that make sense?

Sorry to say that, but it's still not clear how you divide CPU sockets, especially the AM2+/AM3 part.

Look at the classification on the hwbot site and tell me which one should we comply with - the official one or the one you have on the site. For example X3 720 BE is in the AM3 category, while the much newer X2 560 is in the AM2+. And they both have DDR3 mem controller, along with the DDR2.

You won't have the right to remove subs (if the engine counts them as different sockets in the first place), because in fact we will follow the hwbot classification, so better clarify it now.

PS: I see 550BE and 970BE from Brazil are accepted from the engine as different socket types.

November 25, 2012 at 2:36:32 PM UTC

There seems to be some database issues then.

There are no "AM2+" CPUs, only AM3 (indicating the CPU supports DDR3). AM2+ is used to indicate that the mainboard supports AM2 and AM3 CPUs.

Actually there are some AM2+ CPUs:

Phenom I/Athlon X2 7XXX series (Agena/Barcelona cores) and Phenom II X4 940/920.

AM3 CPU = DDR2/DDR3 CPU's + HT3.0 support

AM2+ CPU = DDR2 only + HT 3.0 support.

AM2 CPU = K8 with DDR2 IMC + HT 2.0 support

As I.nfraR.ed pointed, X2 550BE is a AM3 CPU as well as X4 970BE is a AM3 CPU too. :)

Ah, good info, thanks!

Just updated the CPU database with all the correct sockets. Flushing caches right now - the competition should be updated too (if everything goes well).

The 7900 GS and the 7900 GT are both G71 cores and the base clocks are both 450/660. I see no reason you can't run both as the supposedly better card (7900 GT). This is just my opinion though. I am not staff.

try to answer

As long as you can submit 2 GPU as nVidia 7xxx, 8xxx or 9xxx is not an issue.

November 26, 2012 at 1:10:31 AM UTC

I was just gonna say, nobody could tell by the screen shot that they were 2 different models anyway. ;)

Thanks for being upfront though. :)

November 26, 2012 at 1:15:08 AM UTC

Flashing has never been disallowed, so it *should* be allowed. Though, always use 2x better stock card (in your case one 7900gs 256mb and one 7900gt 256mb means 2x 7900gt 256mb).

Phenom II 715 BE is also an AM2+ chip AFAIK, but I have to check my chip to be sure :P

November 26, 2012 at 12:59:07 PM UTC

Can a 7900GS be flashed to think it's a GT? They have different spec?

I have a question..... does the SLI category include tri-SLI?

November 26, 2012 at 1:06:07 PM UTC

I've just realised there's an accidental inconsistency in the rules.

If I remember right and its not been changed, a flashed card should always be submitted ONLY as the card it left the factory as. (e.g..... some GTX465 can be unlocked to GTX470. Unlocked card should still be submitted only as GTX465, not benched under both categories.)

BUT.... if mixed GPU scores are done, the scores should always be submitted as an SLI/CF of the better card.

:)

The rules don't agree.... but the individual rules are the right approach (IMO)

OMG, HWB divided by zero!

November 26, 2012 at 2:13:29 PM UTC

As mentioned earlier, some of the low-end nvidia cards for stage 5 are impossible to find, especially on smaller markets.

Some people with access to big hardware shops/manufacturers might be able to get the full stack of requred scores, but seems a no go for the others. It will be fun for Massman only.

This stage is a killer for those who buy retail hardware on their own.

Don't think a stage that requires obscure hardware is suitable for CountryCup.

PS: Oh, and yes...no ATi love again.

November 26, 2012 at 6:06:02 PM UTC

This is true but there is no way to make every stage fair for every country. Some countries have better access to hardware than others so unless you want to always be benching the exact same stuff contest after contest it will always be that way. Some countries have built-in disadvantages, Bulgaria might have trouble finding some of the more obscure hardware, Australia is in the middle of the summer and Finland is -10C outside for the nice outdoor benching, Canada has 3000km between the two major population centres, a little harder to get country mates together for bench sessions than say Belgium which has an easy afternoon jaunt to any corner of the country.

Personally I rather like seeing some obscure stuff thrown in so that its not the same binned cards/chips just putting up scores that are already on the 'bot.

November 26, 2012 at 8:47:19 PM UTC

Try to import a couple of cards. Should be plenty of time left.

November 26, 2012 at 8:50:27 PM UTC

I don't see the inconsistency. You flash one card (to like GTX470 from 465), and submit as a 465 (singlecard). You use a 465 flashed to a 470 together with a regular 470 in SLI, you submit as 2x 470 as the 2x highest card rule says 470 > 465 (comparing stock specs). You flash 2x 465 to 470, you submit as 2x 465, as both cards were 465's when they left the factory. Or did I miss something:confused:

November 26, 2012 at 11:38:50 PM UTC

Yea, you missed it :D It is not a complaint, just a light-hearted comment :D

One rule says you must submit the card as the card it is, the other rule says the card must be submitted as something it is not :D

question; is the "Low-end NVantage" portion limited to ONLY PCIe cards?

I ask because I went to make a submission with my "Nvidia GeForce GT 430 PCI 64bit DDR3" and I got this:

ES not allowed (like in any of the competitions).

Socket is determined by the CPU. Bulldozer is AM3+, Thuban is AM3, Phenom I is AM2+ etc

Can one person sub multiple sockets?

Also, a 940BE should be considered AM2+, right?

When I checked last week, unless I was high or something (maybe?), AMD was a one sub competition, now I see otherwise :D

December 5, 2012 at 1:55:28 AM UTC

I don't see any mention of prizes...are there any this year?

December 5, 2012 at 3:57:34 AM UTC

question; is the "Low-end NVantage" portion limited to ONLY PCIe cards?

It's this card: http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/geforce_gt_430/

So I think the answer to your question is "yes" :P

- one person can only contribute to a stage once

- 940BE would be "AM2+", correct

Still looking into it.

Hey, database should be corrected, just A10-5800K and A10-5700 APU-s are recognised as FM2. I Submitted a score with A8-5600K, but it was not recognised as FM2.

Thanks, HGyu

Sorry, but I don't get the point why PCI versions are not allowed. It's not like they give you advantage...

December 5, 2012 at 8:42:24 PM UTC

Seeing as there is now a GT630 GDDR5 category, will a distinction be made as to which memory version is allowed, or is anything with "GT630" in the product name ok? :)

December 5, 2012 at 9:35:52 PM UTC

Only make submissions with a GeForce GT 220 GDDR3, GeForce GT 320, GeForce GT 430, GeForce GT 530, GeForce GT 630 DDR3 videocard.

So GDDR5 not allowed K404 :D

December 6, 2012 at 12:10:54 AM UTC

Where is that wording stated? :)

(I don't mind/care either way, I just don't want people to buy the "wrong" VGA for the stage.) :)

December 6, 2012 at 12:46:55 AM UTC

Look in requierments for this stage ;)http://www.hwbot.org/competition/country_cup_2012/stage/781_low-end_nvantage/

I copyed it only and put it in this threat :D

December 6, 2012 at 2:17:26 AM UTC

Hmm, the front page says:

"Stage 5 - Low-end NVantage: in this stage, you need to get the best possible average out of 5 scores with low-end Nvidia graphics cards in 3DMark Vantage Performance. The designated cards for this stage are: GeForce GT 220 GDDR3, GeForce GT 320, GeForce GT 430, GeForce GT 530 and GeForce GT 630."

Which one is right?

If it's "DDR3 only", then many people who already bought cards will be screwed up...

December 6, 2012 at 8:36:50 AM UTC

Yea, I was going to copy the same thing you did Infrared :)

My opinion.... not many people will be messed up. The GDDR5 category was only added yesterday and the existing GT630 leaderboard was dominated by a DDR3 card. I don't think many people are affected..... if any :)

December 6, 2012 at 8:48:29 AM UTC

I understand the problem with the categories here. The issue lies in our database structure and the code for the HCE. Essentially, each vga model has its own gpu_id and the HCE allows me to add limitations on vga model by using the gpu_id or a string of gpu_ids. In its current form, the engine does not support grouping vga models, so adding multiple GT 630's would allow users to use 3x GT 630 in the competition stage which conflicts with the idea of having to use 5 different generations.

I've just discussed this problem with Dennis and we have two possible solutions for this. He's looking at the code as I'm typing this to see if we can solve this within a reasonable timeframe and work effort.

Keep you posted!

Hey, database should be corrected, just A10-5800K and A10-5700 APU-s are recognised as FM2. I Submitted a score with A8-5600K, but it was not recognised as FM2.

Thanks, HGyu

Fixed!

Question for 775 Stage :) Does it count if only used E8200-E8600= 5 submits, or does only one E8xxx count and we need E7xxx, E6xxx, E5xxx ?

December 6, 2012 at 2:48:14 PM UTC

1. Clone the gpu_id column into, say, pair_id.

2. Cards that belong in a 'category', like in this case 430PCIe + 430PCI get same pair_id.

3. Mod HCE to read pair_id instead of gpu_id.

4. Profit?

December 6, 2012 at 3:27:34 PM UTC

Ok, now I understand why only PCI-E versions are allowed, the competition engine needs to be modified.

My main point was that you can expect rules are the same on the front page and the subcompetition page.

In fact they are not. There might be people who already bought GDDR5 version of the 630 to participate, based on the limitations on the front page.

If you correct the mistake now, they will be screwed, because the 630 GDDR5 card will be useless.

And no, we haven't bought any 630 yet.

Question for the AMD SuperPI 1M stage.

All five submitions have to be done with different users? Or I can do all five with AM3+, AM3..

December 6, 2012 at 4:49:49 PM UTC

It's different users I guess, the rules state...

"For this stage, you need five countrymen to submit a SuperPI 1M submission using an AMD CPU"

December 6, 2012 at 5:19:02 PM UTC

And 5 differned Sockets ;) But what about my 775 question?

December 6, 2012 at 5:50:13 PM UTC

And 5 differned Sockets ;) But what about my 775 question?

There are no restrictions as to which CPUs you have to use except socket LGA775. At least that's how I read the rules...

December 6, 2012 at 6:28:37 PM UTC

But now when i look the other countrys, all post differned generations, not only E8xxx? Please clear this up, its needed;)

December 6, 2012 at 6:34:44 PM UTC

Seeing as there is now a GT630 GDDR5 category, will a distinction be made as to which memory version is allowed, or is anything with "GT630" in the product name ok? :)

I just notice the same! wtf!?!

Only make submissions with a GeForce GT 220 GDDR3, GeForce GT 320, GeForce GT 430, GeForce GT 530, GeForce GT 630 DDR3 videocard.

So GDDR5 not allowed K404 :D

Hey this was changed in move! I was w/o GDDR3 when stage started!

Yea, I was going to copy the same thing you did Infrared :)

My opinion.... not many people will be messed up. The GDDR5 category was only added yesterday and the existing GT630 leaderboard was dominated by a DDR3 card. I don't think many people are affected..... if any :)

Not many till now!

Hey u cant change this since it was already anonced!?! I mean yes u can do it but is not right and moral! Just leave both free to use, its already too hard to find rest of cards.

What should i write in 2 RMA notes i have to fill for my GT 220 DDR2 and GT 630 GDDR5 as probelm "HWBOT CC 2012 Fail upon decision" ?

E8200-E8600 is a perfectly legal combination.

Not the best though ... :P

Yes, I really wish it was that simple.

And no, we haven't bought any 630 yet.

At the time of competition configuration the GDDR5 category did not exist yet, hence there was only one GT 630. The HCE needs to be updated to support competition-specific hardware groups, yes, but that's not specific for this competition. The competition is configured to say "use 5 different cards from these 5 categories".

I did add the GDDR3 to indicate the correct GT 220 category and for the other 3 you can find a category 100% matching the name as shown on both contest and contest stage page.

Anyway, I updated the contest page.

Question for the AMD SuperPI 1M stage.

All five submitions have to be done with different users? Or I can do all five with AM3+, AM3..

Within a stage, a user can only contribute once to the country score. So, no, you can't do all five with AM3+.

Hey u cant change this since it was already anonced!?! I mean yes u can do it but is not right and moral! Just leave both free to use, its already too hard to find rest of cards.

So when am I the most right and moral: if both GDDR5 and DDR3 are allowed, or just the original category?

Change, in this case, would be trying to get the HCE to quickly support groups of cards so both DDR3 and GDDR3 would be supported. The GT 220 was indicated as GDDR3 on the contest as well as contest stage page so that's hwbot's fault.

December 7, 2012 at 8:42:20 AM UTC

Thanks Mr. Massmann :D

I know, it was only an example :P

I think it will be good for competitors to be able to use card no matter of memory, DDR2, GDDR3 or GDDR5. It will help more country to have all 5 submitions in this stage.

p.s. WOW now i get ur evil plan! U want only Belgium to have all 5 legit cards for this stage  jk :)

December 9, 2012 at 9:51:33 AM UTC

Stage 5 also includes the GT 630 Mobile? :)

No.

December 9, 2012 at 3:43:51 PM UTC

ok, only desktop version... :)

December 9, 2012 at 4:49:04 PM UTC

What about allowing any type, and then just moderate if some countries got subs with both gddr3 and gddr5 gt630's?

The engine will automatically pick up the results anyway. The engine has no overruling functionality.

Regarding the AMD CPU's ...

Last week we checked the superpi scores through the search tab and by selecting the socket we decided to use one 965 BE & one 555 BE . They still show at different categories . 555 is am2+ and 965 am3 .

But it seems it was wrong and we lost one score .

So ... Is the database correct ????? I don't know about AMD cpu's and there is no time to lose ...

December 10, 2012 at 5:17:14 PM UTC

I asked similar question in the beginning. Unfortunately you should pick only one of these 2.

Basically it's like this:

- AM3+ are Bulldozer/Vishera

- AM3 are Deneb/Thuban/Callisto with DDR2 and DDR3

- AM2+ are Deneb with DDR2 controller only

- AM2 are older cores

- FM1 is Llano

- FM2 is Trinity

correction, AM2+ is also first generation Phenom 8xxx/9xxx (and related Athlon 7xxx) chips :)

December 10, 2012 at 5:44:34 PM UTC

Thanks . :)

So , X4 940BE is also reported wrong at AM2+ category i guess ??? Right ?

Which cpu is considered as : Deneb with DDR2 controller only ????

I googled and i found that deneb supports both ddr2 & ddr3 . Damn AMD ... :D

December 10, 2012 at 6:07:32 PM UTC

X4 940/920 are AM2+. They have DDR2 controller only.

Sam, thanks for the correction. Yes, Agena is also AM2+. Basically all cpus that have official DDR2-1066 support instead of DDR2-800 and HT-Link 3.0 are AM2+...if I'm not wrong.

CPU socket types not to be confused with motherboard socket types, because we know there are many different variations out there, not to mention hybrid Asrock boards.

December 10, 2012 at 6:17:01 PM UTC

OK . Now i got it .

AM2+ is 920/940 and the AM3 models are 925/945 etc .

So , we also need a DDR2 board . There is no AM2+ cpu to play on a DDR3 board . Right ??

December 10, 2012 at 6:25:17 PM UTC

Yes, AMD added DDR3 support in Phenom II 945/955. I think they were the first to support DDR3 and moved to AM3 socket.

December 10, 2012 at 7:51:30 PM UTC

Understood .

Thanks . :)

Stage end 12.26.2012 23:59 +0000, you have 7 days to make submit score, and 3DMark11 - Performance is open until 30 December 2012 :D i hope this answers ur question lololo

December 19, 2012 at 11:17:18 AM UTC

Yeah, the phrasing was a little off.

The Cup ends on the 30th, but the stage ends on the 26th. Dennis updated the phrasing, should be more clear now :)

People are far too busy with benching... I guess :P

December 22, 2012 at 11:54:35 PM UTC

Too bad you can't enter more results in the same stage. I have hw for all the stages in the SLI stage and no one else have the time or the cards to run the other parts. :(

Same for S775 stage but there we have a few others that will participate there. :)

The Nvidia low-end stage suck beacause the cards are either hard to find or the same cards with different bios(GT430, GT630). :/

December 23, 2012 at 12:40:32 PM UTC

We had the same issue. But we just met at my home for a session and will spread the results we did together on our different accounts. It's the best if you can combine the hardware with your team members.

So I don't know if anyone is aware but it's extremely hard to soder the vmod on 7900's. People recommend conductive ink. I tried to soder, and succeded!!!

Only problem now is that I'm causing the system to shutdown because it's overloading my Thermaltake TR2 430Watt PSU

December 24, 2012 at 5:44:01 AM UTC

Soldering skill comes with practice. The first voltage modifications I did myself I considered to be "damn near impossible" as well, but as I did more cards it just got easier :).

December 24, 2012 at 2:55:05 PM UTC

To bad it wasn't the Geforce 8500gt, I have one of those......... I put it in the wife's pc tilll I got a GTX550ti, and then a GTX650 so I put the GTX550ti in her pc so she wouldn't be to ^&(*#%$/upset and then bought 2 more GTX 550ti's. What a merrygoround...... LOL

Yes i will do so:)

December 24, 2012 at 5:34:43 PM UTC

Hello guys, got a question for ya. I got myself $100 of Walmart Gift cards to get rid of. I already have an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO (not gen3) laying around and I'm wondering if it's a good idea to use that walmart money to order a Pentium G630 and a tiny bit of HyperX DDR3 1333mhz ram. It says the ram is stock 1.5volt so maybe with a bit more voltage I can get 1600-1866 or so and oc the cpu a bit.

I'm wondering how much of an increase in 3DM03 Scores I can get going from some slightly OC'd C2D's and Athlon 64's and original Phenoms all running on DDR2.

Thanks and happy holidays!

December 26, 2012 at 1:14:32 AM UTC

December 26, 2012 at 11:44:40 AM UTC

I kept checking ebay and the local market places all the time. Almost impossible to get this card.

Let sum it up as this : We got MaSsMaNnEd !!!

PS: I think he got a free Dell laptop this year :P

December 26, 2012 at 9:39:34 PM UTC

No :( My game was over when the 2nd lightning died...

December 26, 2012 at 9:49:01 PM UTC

lol at Indonesia with their 4X craptastic card comment 5 hours ago:

– Desperate attempt of scoring with badly damaged 680 Lightning, one card can only run at 4x mode *sigh*

In one perspective: very tactical play, bit honestly of a sigh moment for me... but good score bro :P

Had too many bugged runs on my setup, GT1 was always decent, GT2 and Physix played tricks on me... Tried to force CPU speed, but 6300MHz run was slower then my 12.4K run... Pushed NB speeds but the CPU was not really co-operating around 2900ish speeds... so had to lower till the last drop of LN2... EPIC FAIL by Leeghoofd (again)

Next round plz...

Belgium aiming for top 10 :woot:

December 26, 2012 at 10:08:52 PM UTC

Ahahah we're seriously desperate man, We had to bench on the last day waiting for the damn LN2 to arrive, we only had one 7970 Lightning, and one of our two 680L's refused to start, and we found out later that one of our card only detects 4X PCIE , and causing it to lose 1.2 FPS on GT2.

Since we're up against 2x or 3x 7970's , we think it's pretty much losing battle and therefore we called it 'desperate attempt' :)

We got really lucky with that 13.4k run, and right now we're still benching to get some more scores ;)

December 26, 2012 at 10:09:43 PM UTC

Good luck dudes, kick ass !! Will be hard to beat the optimised Greecks score... wonder what settings they applied, looking at that CPU speed it seems too good to be true :P they can reach 15K if running a CPU at 6GHz

December 26, 2012 at 10:17:31 PM UTC

3 cards push a lot. Also high NB-Freqs help a lot. I managed to run 3200 MHz on the NB to get 6600 in the Physx score with one card. Unfortunately don't have 3 :D

December 26, 2012 at 10:33:28 PM UTC

So Bulgaria missed out on something then Roman: running far higher CPU and GPU clocks ( NB speeds are pretty to similar... )

Can we agree on the fact, there's more happening here then just adding a 3rd card :D

December 26, 2012 at 10:36:29 PM UTC

Yes that's true :D

edit: ah okay that explains a lot.

December 26, 2012 at 10:36:38 PM UTC

yes looking at the top score it's all about driver tweaking...

December 26, 2012 at 10:50:10 PM UTC

Aaaaand we're done. Mainboard refused to boot, both VGA refused to display anything X_X , that 13.4k is our best run. We had one with higher GPU score(1600 GPU) but far lower CPU score (throttling maybe?)

See ya folks in the next round ;) ;)

I am done for benching today, not good day for me, bad luck all the time, even Ivy got CB today FUCK

December 26, 2012 at 11:23:53 PM UTC

And a wild Xtreme Addict appears :D

December 26, 2012 at 11:30:54 PM UTC

This score should be higher, my CPU does 6.15 GHz @ 3300 nb for physx but was stable only on the beginning, I had almost finished run with 1550/1800 gpus and good cpu :D it would be I guess 14600 points lol 30 litres of LN2 wasted on this crap damm it :D

BTW

Anyone who tested 3x GPU had also artefacts/stripes on the screen even on stock? one or two times I hadn't this problem but I don't know how I achieved it lol

And my result with 2x GPU... I love AMD performance :D I was fighting a lot of time to make this 3x GPU to work, no idea why they weren't eager to work. 3x ref cards all work good in 3x/4x CF @ Intel

Greeks learned their lesson to disable sysinfo in 3/4 CF configurations when running 3dMark 2011 on AMD cards:

http://hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34895

December 26, 2012 at 11:51:28 PM UTC

We did some mistakes, but all due to lack of experience with 3dm11, high-end cards and Crossfire/SLI setups. Used the wrong 3dmark version, didn't disable SI and actually this is our one and only finished complete run. CPU/board was throttling at 6.2GHz, so we tuned down to 6.1GHz, but had a lot of problems with 3-way CF and not identical cards.

Still, I think 3rd place is good considering the competitors.

December 26, 2012 at 11:56:53 PM UTC

Congratz to Greece:)

The next days gonna be interesting I see :D Good job tho!

December 27, 2012 at 12:10:40 AM UTC

The next days gonna be interesting I see :D Good job tho!

It all depends from hw lol This year so little time and very limited amount of overclockers from Poland will participate. So it will be tough. Not sure if some hw will be shipped on time also :/

We don't have all AMD cpus... but we have those crazy GPU

December 27, 2012 at 1:46:14 AM UTC

Fyi, we have arranged for a couple of cooling pot prizes again this year :)

December 27, 2012 at 10:02:10 AM UTC

Who is also looking today for missing hardware? :D:D

December 28, 2012 at 11:18:13 AM UTC

This stage was my biggest fail :D Wanted to start with 2 x 8800 GTX in SLI and noticed that one is dead... Well no problem I still have 2 x 8800 GT. Forgot to disable vMod which was still at 1,57 Volt from LN2 -> card died after two seconds.

December 28, 2012 at 11:19:47 AM UTC

Only one GTX was dead? Bro, you're showing off! :P

(sorry to hear) :(

No new scores from me. No sandbagging, no BS just.... no new scores. Tonight I am going to a party :D

December 28, 2012 at 11:26:22 AM UTC

Aw, shame the sli is ending in 7 hours because In about 7 hours I'll have all the parts for my new benchmarking rig. Gigabyte Z77X UP7, 3570K, H100, and next week 8GB of Patriot Viper Extreme 2400Mhz which I"ll oc to 2600 Cas10 1T.

December 28, 2012 at 8:12:58 PM UTC

So it's this time again... :D

December 28, 2012 at 9:36:13 PM UTC

XA, do not be so shy. Submit our 9800GTX+ result already ;-)

December 28, 2012 at 10:22:25 PM UTC

Oh, how I miss the fun of those last minutes... Too bad I'm in logistics this year, not on the frontline :D

December 28, 2012 at 10:26:26 PM UTC

Officially I have LGA 2011 cpus banana edition

Only ES clocks normally lol

December 28, 2012 at 10:36:15 PM UTC

Banana editions are like bananas, you have to keep them in a dark warm place for a few days :D

December 28, 2012 at 10:46:13 PM UTC

You mean RMA center? :D

December 28, 2012 at 10:56:47 PM UTC

One more bomb from our neighbours on old series nvidia cards category

Hope to change that but anyway good job ;)

December 28, 2012 at 11:08:17 PM UTC

Germany is now officially known as the utmost sandbagging country in the world :P

December 28, 2012 at 11:09:59 PM UTC

We are not sandbagging... we are NOW benching and doing results :D:D

December 28, 2012 at 11:11:41 PM UTC

oh you are benching now for the germans too Extreme addict ? :P

December 28, 2012 at 11:18:52 PM UTC

December 28, 2012 at 11:24:33 PM UTC

December 28, 2012 at 11:28:08 PM UTC

Put down a X79 bclock score for Poland Extreme addictaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... even if it's just 125...

December 28, 2012 at 11:33:56 PM UTC

Wow, Greeks are so close. popcorn.gif

December 28, 2012 at 11:34:56 PM UTC

Yap we are doing it :D

Should be uploaded in 5 minutes

December 28, 2012 at 11:38:01 PM UTC

Oh no only 18 minutes left :( Just finished installing XP, don't think I can make it though...

December 29, 2012 at 12:01:11 AM UTC

Congrats to Greece - INSANE bclk I ever saw in X79 systems :D

Whew, now stage 2 and 3 is over, can sleep a bit before bench marathon this weekend.

* 15 submission in less than 2 Day, this is going to be tough X_X *

December 29, 2012 at 12:05:04 AM UTC

Biggest surprise is that 8800 Ultra SLI scores were more popular than 8800GTS 512!

Some nice scores though, congrats to the other guys who took part :)

December 29, 2012 at 12:09:54 AM UTC

8800 Ultra are not as fragile as 8800 GTS 512 :-) And they have better MEM bandwidth.

December 29, 2012 at 12:14:24 AM UTC

Too bad we had to make LGA 2011 submission at the very last moment :/ If not, it is most likely we would make better score with 7900 GTX.

December 29, 2012 at 12:23:31 AM UTC

BCLK killed us :D We have to motivate in LGA775 and Crapvidia cause we don't have AMD cpus

December 29, 2012 at 12:28:56 AM UTC

We had two 9800gtx that could run 1150Mhz . Also a backup card with 1050Mhz capability .

Backup and one 1150Mhz card died ... So no scores to show .

Congrats to all participants so far !! Let's get going !!!!!!!! :D

December 29, 2012 at 12:34:01 AM UTC

Well, I killed two 7900 GTX xD But fortunately remained with another two. One is very good ~1GHz GPU and ~1GHz RAM, but all other three turned out to be crap.

December 29, 2012 at 1:31:43 PM UTC

Impressive scores guys! well done :)

December 29, 2012 at 4:01:43 PM UTC

We failed the SLI stage and there was nothing more we can do for BCLK stage. Had 116 with 3770K and a lot of screens from 115 to 116 (every 0.1MHz step) but the validation file was done with outdated cpuz - another failure :D.

7900GTX + 7900GTO, second one with crap memory; 8800GTS - one good with 1300+ Samsung memory and the second one with Qimonda. I <3 Qimonda :D. 9800GTX+ done with one half-dead card and hybrid cooling - first card on LN2, second card with Megahalems, lol.

And we benched literally to the very end of the stage. They could do 1050 core on SS, but things didn't go well. Poor efficiency as well, although we have good 3770K (6.5 - 6.6 3DMark 03).

Anyway, congrats to Greece, almost sure this is your year, but we will fight until the end :)

See you in the next stages.

December 30, 2012 at 5:28:02 PM UTC

Damm it, we have shit REX boards....

December 30, 2012 at 6:49:50 PM UTC

Belgium got no 5th card for the low Vantage score. Crap german ebayer, we bought the GT530 on the 19th this month. The card still hasn't been shipped ( payed by paypal the same day )

Nevertheless good scores by everyone, happy new year all !

December 30, 2012 at 8:10:35 PM UTC

Im still benching atm for country Cup:D

December 30, 2012 at 8:51:37 PM UTC

Im still benching atm for country Cup:D

I do not think you are the only one :P

December 30, 2012 at 9:01:36 PM UTC

You're all sandbaggers... I know it. Hopefully the guy I'm cheering for doesn't kill my CPUs :P He's benching atm too :D

This is high school style... paper due next week? Do everything the evening before!!

December 30, 2012 at 9:29:14 PM UTC

We never sandbag, we bench in the last few hours :) It was the same in last years Country Cup.

December 30, 2012 at 10:00:15 PM UTC

Will be interesting till the end.... Many good scores...

December 30, 2012 at 10:02:11 PM UTC

Whew, our session is finally done, this conclude our a week-long office sleepover for country cup :D :D - Disastrous result for the last 2 stages btw LOL

nvantage stage

- Xpower II failed to work , had to change setup with the only X79 we got left - Intel DX79SI , not that crappy, but still gives us some problems X_X

- our 220 Card died almost instantly , some Vmod problem I believe..

- the 1st 430 is dead for no apparent reason, had to switch to our other 430

LGA775 Pi 32M stage

- Just about everything we do for this stage are last-minute, we can't even get these setup to it's proper clocks - not to mention the efficiency goes down the drain :(

- After a couple of bench session, the REX started to have it's own problems, had to change to our backup board - Maximus II Formula

Anyway, we had fun, so it's okay :D :D

We'll submit our last submission in a couple minutes or so :)

See ya guys at the end of the stage ,was an honor to compete with the top guys from all over the world ;)

Cheers,

December 30, 2012 at 10:37:50 PM UTC

Im still fighting against 32m:D

i think they will take the crown this year.... greece is unstoppable :thumb:

but we still fight till the end :)

December 30, 2012 at 11:10:43 PM UTC

Yes and I guess they didn't even post their best scores of the 32M yet :D So congratulations to Greece :) Well done!

December 30, 2012 at 11:30:23 PM UTC

I could've done that 32m stage alone ffs... Like the UCBench stage a few months ago :P

December 30, 2012 at 11:57:14 PM UTC

Yay, 2# :D

Big congratulations to our Greek friends - you've really shown your dedication!

Good one all, nice competition to participate... well done !

December 31, 2012 at 12:48:23 AM UTC

Yeah nice competition however Germany and Belgium failed:p

December 31, 2012 at 12:55:32 AM UTC

Good work Greece!!! You have so many great OCers and you finally won your well-deserved trophy!! Well done :)

This year Greece was out of the reach for any country :D

Next year we have to motivated and focus a bit more on it :D

December 31, 2012 at 12:58:04 AM UTC

nice play on s775 32M by Poland! :)

Efficiency wasn't so good cause our REX boards one clocked bad CPU (it lost proadlizer and one CPU phase sometime ago) and second does bad FSB with very bad Perfomance level and we had no time for nb@ln2 or memories@ln2

Next year I have one goal - to have results one day before the end. Today I had the most crazy bench session ever, fighting with time! Last results were done minutes or even seconds before the end

December 31, 2012 at 1:24:56 AM UTC

Yeah nice competition however Germany and Belgium failed:p

Maybe we can all fail together next time !

December 31, 2012 at 2:36:03 AM UTC

Congatulations !!! Greece :celebration:

You have made a great effort and hard work, You deserve the Country Cup 2012, but in the next year ....the Country Cup 2013, already has an owner :D

Messi benching with us :nana:

Nice competition this year, see you all in the next year

Cheers

December 31, 2012 at 6:26:21 AM UTC

Congrats GREECE ;)

December 31, 2012 at 6:37:13 AM UTC

Congratulations, Greece!

I think it'll take a while to go over all the results, but it seems like there are a lot of great results there. Bulgaria owns the AMD stage almost as expected - a couple of really awesome scores there! Good to see 4 countries also managed to complete the most difficult stage (Nvantage) - next year's cup will have a similar "wtf is this hw"- stage then :D.

Write-up after New Year. Happy 2013 all!

December 31, 2012 at 7:07:07 AM UTC

Congratulations Greece!Nice group works!

December 31, 2012 at 8:47:00 AM UTC

Congrats to all countries those have participated to this Country Cup 2012.

Especially to Poland, Bulgaria and Indonesia that they have fight to win the competition with very good results.

It was a very difficult competition with big interest to all stages and the last 3 days I have slept only 6 hours.

Now it is time to rest a bit :)

Congrats again to all and a happy new year.

December 31, 2012 at 1:48:59 PM UTC

Congratulations Greece! Well done!

And good job to all those who participated!

December 31, 2012 at 6:10:25 PM UTC

Congrats Greece!!!

Big thanks for the team effort Madshrimps!

January 1, 2013 at 2:56:09 PM UTC

Congrats to Greece, great scores and consistency across all stages.Poland and Indonesia did well in all stages too.

We had our chances but lost some points here and there, otherwise could have made it to the second place.

At least we got one of the stages :D.

Big respect to my teammates, it was really hard to bench at night, working all day long, filling up the dewars during lunch time. All I wished after the comp was to get some good sleep :).

See you all in the next CountryCup and Happy New Year!

January 1, 2013 at 3:58:57 PM UTC
