HWBOT Country Cup 2014

The Country Cup is back! Similar to last year, during the last months of 2014 we are hosting the World Cup of overclocking. From November 1 until December 20 we look for a successor to last year’s champions from Australia.

This year’s Country Cup is split up in five stages. Each stage comes with its own hardware, benchmark and user limitations. Find all details in the Rules section. One of the stages features a new and interesting 24h challenge for which you need a country-men who’s solid under pressure. We also teamed up with G.SKILL, GIGABYTE, Enermax, KINGPINcooling and Gelid Solutions for some awesome prizes. Good luck everyone!

Stages

The set-up of the Country Cup 2014 is similar to the previous editions. You can only contribute once per stage. For a stage that requires 5 scores to form an average, 5 different overclockers have to contribute. Every country receives a minimum of 1 point per stage it is active in, even if the minimum required overclockers for the average is not met.

Stage 1 to 4 start on November 1 2PM UTC and end on their respective day at 2PM. Stage 5 starts on December 19 4PM UTC and ends 24 hours later on December 20 4PM UTC.

Download the competition background HERE. The overview of the stage details and requirements below.

Why no 270 and 7870 in a stage where you allow 270X?

October 31, 2014 at 11:57:39 AM UTC

yes,7870 would be a nice ad :D.

why ar al the stageg limitet ? only for members who registered on or after 2014-10-30 00:00:00.

for stage 4 ar the Westmere-EP Cores and other xeon/opterons variants of the desktop models allowed? if no , i am am out i don't have other hardware to compete in other stages

Why did you left-out the 6core cpu's from both stage2 and stage4 ???

Please add them.

Also , i agree about adding 7870 in stage3.

Thanks

This is not just the allowed hardware, it is the required hardware, which means your country have to provide a score with every single VGA listed there.

So you actually want to add yet another card(s) in the requirements for the total of 6+ scores in stage 3? Why?

October 31, 2014 at 6:08:01 PM UTC

Good point

Also on enthusiast stage, does this mean they have to be in that league or does it mean we just have to follow the rules of that league? Seems someone could easily have their wife join or roommate no?

For all stages and not for a particular one , it would be nice to have more hardware options , than the obligatory submissions.

Meaning that , a poor team with no resources , that doesnt have a superWoW Haswell-E ... CAN STILL compete with a 6core cpu , even with a SandyBridge-E

So , 4 cpu categories permitted but only 3 submissions are required.

The same should apply for the rest of the stages too.

Give a bit more hardware options.

They have to be in the league, and of course adhere to the league requirements (ie. no liquid nitrogen).

I've amended the rules with a temperature requirement (must be >20°C) as measured by 3DMark during the benchmark run just to make sure we are all on the same page.

The reason why some variants are not included is because the competition goal is to compete with all variants. For example, if we'd allow 6x CPU in stage 2 where the requirement is 3 scores, the winning combination would be 8x + 6x + 4x CPU. But the goal is to combine 8x + 4x + 2x CPU.

If we can extend the code to support easy grouping, we can add them though. For example [(8x or 6x) and 4x and 2x)] so the choice would be 8x or 6x. But I'm not sure we can add this easily. Keep you updated!

November 1, 2014 at 11:56:57 AM UTC

In that case, allow any combination as long as it doesn't go above 16 cores? That way the team could have: (8+4+2)/3 or (8+6)/3.

As for the GPU's, I don't think there should be any problem. People will still want the 270X instead of 270/7870 since it's better performing, but you will increase participation.

November 1, 2014 at 12:02:54 PM UTC

Very, very hard set of tests. Only people with High-end HW and extremely cost hardware or sponsors are be able to participate this challenge. Very sad :( HWBOT Team Cup 2014 was very flexible in this way, and more interesting I think. For small countries it is unreachable contest.

November 1, 2014 at 4:18:26 PM UTC

IMHO, Ivy Bridge-E, should be allowed, there is no possibility that all have a haswell-e , Cup team was , in the past, always flexible for all , so why not ?

idem with 7870 :)

November 1, 2014 at 4:54:28 PM UTC

Yay! Hope Germany will team-up quickly and sort out all the stages!

New competition site is still very confusing / no overview on one page to me - the news pointed out better what is needed in every stage than the entire "e-oc-blabla page".

But it will be madness and massive fun - guaranteed!

November 2, 2014 at 2:04:32 AM UTC

I'm not a fan of the structure this year, but it isn't all that bad. Everyone talks about "team", but it's country. The structure is set up so that not just a small group of people can submit all scores for a nation. We have a mix of ln2 results and and ambient results in stage 3. So it really takes a variety of people to submit everything. The requirement of 3dmark links for two of the stages also makes it a bit more difficult for one person to submit more than one score per stage unless he/she has multiple 3dmark keys or is willing to endure the pain of running the entire suite.

November 2, 2014 at 8:33:25 AM UTC

The reason why some variants are not included is because the competition goal is to compete with all variants. For example, if we'd allow 6x CPU in stage 2 where the requirement is 3 scores, the winning combination would be 8x + 6x + 4x CPU. But the goal is to combine 8x + 4x + 2x CPU.

There's even a much more easy move to do.

Simply leave-out the 8cores and replace them with the 6cores.

This way , there are plenty of options for hardware , including the 6core Haswell-E models ;)

November 2, 2014 at 9:49:38 AM UTC

We considered the activity numbers for the Haswell-E in the past months actually. Right now, the Core i7 5960X is used as much as the Core i7 3930K in all 2014. The 4930K is more used though. If we consider the numbers from August (including August), the 5960X is the most used of all LGA2011 platforms. There are 41 countries who have someone benching the 5960X, so should be possible I guess.

I understand what you mean though.

November 2, 2014 at 11:59:49 AM UTC

I don't like the limitation of only member that joined on or before 30th october can participate. Sweden are a small country and we might need to bring in more people than usually bench on HWBOT to be able to get results in every stage. Plus, doesn't HWBOT want more members? Seems like a very strange decision to me.

Take out of your calculations ALL the engineering samples ... and then look at your stats again.

It's so that people can't make fake accounts and submit more than once. They would have had to make the fake accounts prior to that date.

November 2, 2014 at 4:32:38 PM UTC

what did i wrong?

I can not submit this score

November 2, 2014 at 6:46:36 PM UTC

Is it me, or the new site is fcuked up? I am using Opera 12, and the site is very laggy. On IE is a bit better. Also, the urls are not working properly: if I click on the points that a country has on a certain stage, it redirects me to the Gigabyte challenge. Also, I couln't find a link which sends me to the scores (submissions) that a country has.

If you don't understand my crappy English I will make a video to show what I am talking about.

November 2, 2014 at 7:50:14 PM UTC

I have the same issue with being redirected to gigabyte challenge. I also can't see a countries individual scores for each bench.

November 2, 2014 at 8:04:28 PM UTC

I have the same issue with being redirected to gigabyte challenge. I also can't see a countries individual scores for each bench.

This too.

November 2, 2014 at 8:11:10 PM UTC

Could you enable the old competition pages too? Just like the Gigabyte Target OC is available in both variants.

I don't think it's a good idea to beta-test the new site with the CountryCup.

Navigation on the new site is not intuitive at all.

November 2, 2014 at 8:27:36 PM UTC

I'm having issues logging to the oc-sports page on IE and Chrome. On mobile (apple iOS8) I get some apache server 80 issue, but I can navigate the scores correctly.

November 3, 2014 at 12:11:03 AM UTC

I just plain hate the interface for oc sports page.

I know you're trying to push it, but Id still prefer the hwbot.org page.

November 3, 2014 at 6:04:20 AM UTC

There's no links to individual scores for each round.

Links to "beat this user with this score" go to time target competition.

Links go to dead pages or to the time target competition.

Dont put it on this stupid oc-sports site unless you can sort this crap out.

November 3, 2014 at 3:51:01 PM UTC

November 4, 2014 at 7:27:23 AM UTC

Bump.

Any news about the 6core (8core) matter ???

and also about the 7870 ?

November 4, 2014 at 7:34:10 AM UTC

Hi zeropluszero,

We need a few competitions running on the esports site to gather feedback on what needs to be improved. All resources are allocated to esports to fix the majority of the complaints by the end of this week. Thanks for your patience. :)

Or we dont, and leave what works as it is.

November 5, 2014 at 10:57:02 AM UTC

Might be to late to add, but I think it would've been good under the submissions to show the Country of the person instead of the Team being it is the Country Cup. Although if both can be there so be it.

November 6, 2014 at 2:25:13 AM UTC

Guys, I've enabled the regular page as well as per popular demand :)

November 7, 2014 at 1:36:50 AM UTC

Just wondering about something here.

In Div IV, I know Intel and AMD chips are allowed and that's OK but since Intel will definitely dominate this part of the comp, what's the point of even running an AMD in it?

Would make sense if out of the five best entries per country, one has to be an AMD sub so the AMD guys could at least compete in some way or have an impact. I know the comp is what it is but running an AMD in this is useless to do and a waste of time and effort. I do own an Intel so it's not that I'm griping about it, I can run it if I want but to me it just seems odd to include something that stands no chance of well... Doing anything that would make a difference in this. I looked over the rules for it and the way it is ATM, Intels will determine the outcome with any AMD entries being a null factor.

November 7, 2014 at 2:56:13 AM UTC

Its the average of 10 scores. One with each architecture is requured. The slow stuff is what eventually brings down the average and has a big impact on final scores.

November 7, 2014 at 9:25:58 AM UTC

In relation to this.

"The system picture must be of the system in use during the overclocking session"

Is this even relevant if submission of close up's of the GPU and CPU blocks are all some people are submitting??

Especially in Stage 4.

I thought the idea of this would be to take a step back and take a picture of your whole system including screen and cooling setup???

November 7, 2014 at 9:45:48 AM UTC

Its the average of 10 scores. One with each architecture is requured. The slow stuff is what eventually brings down the average and has a big impact on final scores.

Ah - Now it makes proper sense.

Haven't got the hang of the new comp screens yet and that why I missed it. Took forever it seemed to get to the proper page once I did find it with this info on the rankings.

November 8, 2014 at 3:59:34 AM UTC

Is there a way to tell what position you're country is sitting in for each type of hardware per stage?

For example, Stage 4. If I wanted to know how we are sitting for the best 32m time for 'Richland', is there a way I can compare CC entries for Richland only?

This way we can monitor and focus on what needs times improved for each hardware type in each stage.

Mods re: the 32M cpu freq limit, what's to stop people with on-the-fly tuning software or boards to jack up the frequency during the run and then dial it down again for the screen shot? Do we need some kind of verification to prevent that?

That's not what I'm saying. I simply mean that it worked pretty good having a low clock challenge last time.

November 10, 2014 at 10:45:06 AM UTC

Why intel and amd put together in spi32 when the latter have no chance ?

For me it's a bad cup , no stage for the poor.

I'm not sure what you're point is here exactly? You have to get someone to run every single platform in order to get the highest position in the stage and then it's an average time of all 10 scores.

November 10, 2014 at 11:08:40 AM UTC

it's always a challenge as we all rely on honesty of others and we know majority of people are honest but some are not. Last time there was some people with dodgy results removed from what Pieter told me so it's not going to be a surprise if we see it happen again.

November 10, 2014 at 1:38:21 PM UTC

Guys let's enjoy this, it's for fun right?

I'm doing the Kabini stage for Belgium. Shaving off minutes of efficiency rendering the 'expensive' Haswell runs not so relevant.

Athlon 5350 = 50€

ASUS AM1I-A = 30€

You and me both, I figured out last year you are only as fast as your slowest sub :)

November 11, 2014 at 9:45:09 AM UTC

So, does anyone know a way I can check each family submissions for stage 4? It's hard to track with what I can figure out.

November 12, 2014 at 3:00:07 AM UTC

I guess if sub timings were shown in pics this would also help a little if a score was questionable,I cant really speak for all new comers into this low clock thing but all the regulars and their is quite a few, I think they are all quite honest.

I quite like that Hwbot has bought the low clock into the cup as it does teach you a lot about overclocking and tweaking your system, running 3D or 2D you really got to have a low clock efficiency starting point to give you a guide on how your efficiency is going.

Yeah man I love it, I think it's awesome to have stages where peeps without extreme cooling can hang and the focus is on tweaking. I just figured I'd say what was on everyone's minds anyway and make sure I wasn't missing something.

November 12, 2014 at 7:02:10 PM UTC

what is this thing whit stage 5?

PCMark for Android but

Only use AMD processors.

Only use AMD videocards.

what android divice use amd as gpu and cpu?

November 13, 2014 at 12:23:57 AM UTC

It's a secret benchmark; not PCMark for Android.

Maybe the dearth of submissions so far in the Enthusiast Ice Storm stage results from some confusion ;) as there is *no such card* as an R7 270X. There is an R9 270X, and an R7 260X; I'm assuming that the organizers meant the former, but could we get clarification Massman?

Also just to be clear, is GTX 660 Ti allowed, or only non-Ti? It might increase participation to allow it.

November 15, 2014 at 2:16:36 AM UTC

Correct MrBreeze!

The limitations were correct, but the information on the competition page not. That's fixed now :)

Only the GTX 660 is allowed, not the Ti.

November 15, 2014 at 11:36:12 PM UTC

I submitted the following for XTU, but there's nowhere on the submission to add a screenshot.

I've attached the screenshot in the extra pictures, but the automatic system doesn't pick up the screenshot.

How can I get this added to the competition since it "doesn't meet criteria" based on the automatic system?

http://hwbot.org/submission/2675779_atminside_xtu_core_i7_4770k_1169_marks

November 16, 2014 at 6:04:51 PM UTC

you can take the wallpaper from the main page of the competition, it's in FHD ^^

November 16, 2014 at 7:51:19 PM UTC

you can take the wallpaper from the main page of the competition, it's in FHD ^^

The wallpaper is there, but XTU covers it...

That's not what's kicking the sub from being applicable to the competition, the issue is there's nowhere to put a "screenshot" on an XTU sub.

The only pictures you can upload are the "system" pictures.

November 16, 2014 at 7:57:02 PM UTC

Just reduce the XTU window ... http://img.hwbot.org/u8630/image_id_1281846.jpeg

Just reduce the XTU window ... http://img.hwbot.org/u8630/image_id_1281846.jpeg

Okay...

Point is that I already ran this for the competition.

It's NOT the background kicking it from being valid.

November 16, 2014 at 8:39:31 PM UTC

Just so we're all on the same page, this is what I see. On the right side it says there's no verification screenshot.

fLytfGU.png

November 17, 2014 at 2:35:05 AM UTC

Hm, it seems a lot of people are having the same issue.

The problem is that the screenshot is attached as a "media". Pretty much like a system picture. The engine checks the verification screenshot field and only if that field is filled out, it will accept the submission as valid.

The best way to submit a competition result is by going via the competition stage submission functionality. So,

Upload the validation file and you'll find the verification screenshot option at the bottom.

I will ask the development team to always show the verification screenshot option, even for regular submission forms.

November 17, 2014 at 3:52:59 AM UTC

Thanks Massman, that link worked :)

November 17, 2014 at 12:48:06 PM UTC

So, stage 3.... R9 280X not allowed but same as HD7970?

November 17, 2014 at 11:34:16 PM UTC

Correct, only HD 7970 allowed.

November 19, 2014 at 1:04:31 AM UTC

I'm doing the Kabini stage for Belgium. Shaving off minutes of efficiency rendering the 'expensive' Haswell runs not so relevant.

Athlon 5350 = 50€

ASUS AM1I-A = 30€

:D

You and me both, I figured out last year you are only as fast as your slowest sub :)

5350 in hand waiting for board tomorrow and then we battle PJ :D

Game on!

November 19, 2014 at 2:02:04 AM UTC

Whoah! What temp?

November 19, 2014 at 2:15:43 AM UTC

It's with a h100 submerged in ice water with a CPU temp of 10-14c and water temp is about 2.5-3c

Edit: and yes it's 32m stable

November 19, 2014 at 3:16:56 AM UTC

Oi

I have some work to do.

November 19, 2014 at 9:20:19 AM UTC

November 19, 2014 at 12:12:40 PM UTC

I'm coming to AM1 too !

Very nice platform to OC, no head-breaker, and cheap ^^

November 20, 2014 at 4:15:36 AM UTC

I'm coming to AM1 too !

Very nice platform to OC, no head-breaker, and cheap ^^

While I've been having a blast playing with am1 the problem is that it's going to come down to ln2 which isn't a problem for me but is for a lot of other people

On another note I've got 2 5350s which both clock exactly the same which is nice as I've got a backup chip

November 20, 2014 at 4:50:47 AM UTC

The one I tried for the team cup had a bad CBB, so I don't think LN2 will help much if all are like it.

Plus it didn't raise the max stable bclk frequency, so I ended up running it on air. It was with an external VGA though, so it might make some difference.

November 20, 2014 at 12:01:51 PM UTC

Same, not sure that extrem cooling will help.

while raising the vcore, i didn't see any temp bump in load.

The main limitor factor is final freq of the cpu i think, as the 5150 can get a 150 fsb easily.

Got a nice improvement too by putting an external VGA and disable 2 cores ^^

November 20, 2014 at 4:07:18 PM UTC

I have a bclk limit of 139 with a external VGA and the cpu frequency scales with changes with room temp so I'm pretty sure at -30 it would see some benefit given I can run 153mhz bclk on water I just can't make use it because of CPU/GPU/IMC/NB limits

November 21, 2014 at 10:56:35 AM UTC

Hm, so you guys are seeing lower BCLK with external VGA?

I've been running only with external actually.

November 21, 2014 at 11:35:33 AM UTC

I saw a little better stability for a freq/voltage couple

November 21, 2014 at 12:36:55 PM UTC

Around 139 MHz BCLK I had some issues with the NB/MEM instability though. I thought the IGP was giving up

November 22, 2014 at 5:02:33 PM UTC

I just benched Stage 4 on my Xeon X5650. But now I can not submit, because HWbot says my CPU is not allowed. Could you please add Xeon X5600-series to stage 4? I think it should be allowed since it scores exactly the same as W3670, i7 980X etc.

November 23, 2014 at 2:20:23 AM UTC

Hehe @ -60c with dice and an external GPU.

8bNLv2B.png

I could've got higher but random crashes below -40 and I could post 3250mhz+ plus I had no problem holding -40 with dice so may have or may not have been able to run a similar speed 32m stable just a shame I can't enter the CC with it unless I remove Richland

November 23, 2014 at 6:52:46 AM UTC

Yikes!!

November 24, 2014 at 6:18:04 AM UTC

Judges: for round 3, how do you monitor the temperatures to ensure they are above X degrees?

Is it only via screenshot of the 3D Mark application, or are the temps logged and visible on the submission page on 3dmark.com?

November 25, 2014 at 2:36:24 AM UTC

Just had my first pots arrive(thanks to the kingpin himself). Now I want to use them.

Need to stay Novice for Stage 3 though, as I'm doing the 270X.

Can I sub for the 270X then go cold for Stage 4 and keep my stage 3 subs?? hahahahaha. :)

November 25, 2014 at 7:44:00 AM UTC

as soon as you use extreme cooling , you wil move to extreme devision.

November 25, 2014 at 9:46:09 AM UTC

Or you can make submission on extreme but disable the points and like this you will still be in novice.

November 25, 2014 at 12:15:01 PM UTC

Is that allowed?

November 25, 2014 at 3:50:05 PM UTC

Doubt it, seems a bit unfair to me.

November 25, 2014 at 5:56:00 PM UTC

Why it would be unfair as long as you receive no points from it ?

If you want to try using subzero cooling a couple of times, you should be allowed to post the results,if in here you can't than where else ?

And if you are not planning to stay long on that type of cooling(subzero) why to go to another league ?

Is the same like the fact that some users from extreme oc league have the courtesy to disable points when they bench with Es samples.

It seems fair and respectful.

LE : and vice versa ,if someone from extreme oc league wants to join enthusiast,in my opinion it is enough ,for him ,to disable the points from submissions made on subzero cooling.

It's no point for him in deleting that account,or destroying his legacy by deleting those subs.

agreed

November 27, 2014 at 1:46:02 AM UTC

Yeah this was unclear to me too. What happens if someone submits for stage 3 as Enthusiast or lower, but then moves up to Extreme later in the comp? Would that invalidate the sub?

EDIT: I'll revise my fairly stupid question, it's clear that extreme cooling undoes everything as an enthusiast and that should be that, no loopholes. Apologies, guys.

November 27, 2014 at 2:31:33 AM UTC

Way too much trying to find loopholes and ruin the spirit of competition and fair play.

November 27, 2014 at 3:49:14 AM UTC

Based on what I know JD doesn't have to use cold, it's more he just got pots and wants to try them out which I don't blame him for given I used mine the day I got it which was just after last years CC but he would benefit from a ice slush for stage 4 which would still allow him to stay in novice league

November 27, 2014 at 1:42:34 PM UTC

Way too much trying to find loopholes and ruin the spirit of competition and fair play.

+1 :celebration:

Sub zero cooling rule supersedes everything. As soon as you go sub zero, you are now in the extreme league.

November 28, 2014 at 11:56:57 PM UTC

Can people who make stupid reports against people start to get banned because a number of my fellow team mates seem to be getting reported over FM link and screen not being exact as we all system info can't tell crap

November 29, 2014 at 4:26:45 AM UTC

Any input on X5650 in stage 4? If all the Xeon versions of Socket 2011 and 1150 etc. are allowed, I don't see why my X5650 should not be allowed.

November 29, 2014 at 8:21:11 AM UTC

Any input on X5650 in stage 4? If all the Xeon versions of Socket 2011 and 1150 etc. are allowed, I don't see why my X5650 should not be allowed.

The xeon version for socket 1150 ar Haswell. So they ar allowed to use.

The xeon version for socket 2011 ar Ivy Bridge-EP and Sandy Bridge-EP.so they ar not allowed to use.

the xeon version for socket 1366 ar Gainestown , Westmere-EP , Bloomfield .so they ar not allowed to use.

But in the socket 1366 ar gulftown xeons, like W3670 , W3680 ,W3690 and thay ar allowed to use.

btw i am in the same boat whit my x5690

November 29, 2014 at 7:25:28 PM UTC

Actually, a W3670 is a Westmere-WS and the same CPU as the Westmere-EP, just without possibility to use on Dual sockets.

I hope we X5600 guys were just forgotten :)

December 7, 2014 at 2:16:01 PM UTC

use reatltemp or coretemp for the cpu,and for the gpu use the sensor tab in gpu-z.

Question from a rookie team member for round 3. Using the basic/free version of 3dmark doesn't show temperatures in the program, nor on the online submission. What do?

Yo Massman, do we have a solution for this? Loosing bench time over it.

December 11, 2014 at 3:14:27 AM UTC

Yo Massman, do we have a solution for this? Loosing bench time over it.

Also 70% of runs don't show either CPU or GPU temp and that's in the paid version.

Yo Massman, do we have a solution for this? Loosing bench time over it.

Sorry, missed this.

In that case, use Coretemp and GPU-Z as another member suggested. Not benching the free versions has made me unaware of this problem ... my bad, I should've known. Of course I guess the other alternative would be to purchase a 3DMark license ...

The moderators will look closely at the runs and take out those that are out of line.

Just a heads up to massman/mods also, I still see at least one Stage 3 sub with an R9 280X masquerading as a 7970. There may be others. Just to confirm, R9 280X not allowed for this stage, right?

As far as I know, no ln2 for Romania this year, so not so much sandbagging. I see that France is strong this year.

Can we have submit times offset by like 6 or 8 hours next year? 1AM submit times are a real pain to sandbag. :P

December 18, 2014 at 10:44:23 PM UTC

it's always a bad hour for someone

December 18, 2014 at 11:46:29 PM UTC

I'd like to see it moved to a more appropriate time of the year. Benching in the middle of summer for the southern hemisphere while the Northeners are benching in snow just about. Really made that ice storm round quite brutal for these guys using air in hot and humid conditions.

What if, year round, and one stage per month?

Getting reaaaally nervous for stage 5, so the hardware + benchmark will be announced on December 19th 4:00 PM?

AMD CPU and 1x AMD GPU is already known; benchmark will be annouced on Dec 19

I don't see this ending well because to think people can get hardware with 24 hours notice on weekend is just plain stupid

Wait, so it's any AMD CPU and AMD GPU? Not some specific AMD Hardware?

December 19, 2014 at 3:02:41 AM UTC

Yes Lucky.

@Newlife: prepare the strongest system and go as hard as possible in the benchmark within 24h. The idea is NOT that people can buy the system, the idea is that people prepare the system and then push for the best score.

Oh glad to hear that, at least we will be able to score something out, and won't need to search & buy some rare hardware.

Looking forward to the benchmarks then ;)

Best would be something like 990FX and FX CPU and a 290X maybe.

C'mon sandbaggers.... :D

December 19, 2014 at 8:01:56 AM UTC

Indonesian time results,5 minutes before ending, precise like a swiss clock.

Or you can say like this :

"When Indonesia will post results you can count till 5 and you know the competition is over " :)).

December 19, 2014 at 8:15:48 AM UTC

Romania looking strong in 32m going to be another tough stage :)

December 19, 2014 at 9:54:09 AM UTC

Unfortunately, most of our results are on air or water, so we we are still behind most of the people.

@suzuki: lol.

Unfortunately, most of our results are on air or water, so we we are still behind most of the people.

@suzuki: lol.

Some of your air/water result are still better than what we have on LN2 right now, i can assure you :D (and you already got all 10 submission done)

We're still troubleshooting some stuff now, and will probably be still benching pi until the last day, really stressed out x_x

December 19, 2014 at 10:07:44 AM UTC

I'm sure with 5 minutes before ending you will have everything in order, you always do .. so no stress at all. :D

December 19, 2014 at 10:35:12 AM UTC

i don't wont to sandbag or be a dick.

but ar the xeon now alowed or not?

if its alowed now i whil do a rerun whit my xeon x5690

sorry Germany ( QAI ) the xeon x5650 is not a gulftown core but a westmere-ep.

the database use wrong core name

btw nice score QAI for your xeon x5650

December 19, 2014 at 1:44:01 PM UTC

Thank you Skullstation. I received a message from my Team Captain. He asked the moderators and got this in response:

At last, it's ok now. We made an exception, because no Xeon should have been allowed since they are all Westemere.

We will fix that in the DB after the competition. For now we move the CPU to gulftown so your team member can submit

This was the reason I submitted this result. There was another Westmere already in the competition, I think a Westmere-WS W3670, and since it is all the same core anyways it should be okay.

December 19, 2014 at 3:20:09 PM UTC

so if i am understanding it corect.

the databadse was modded to alow the xeon cpu.

whil this happen for all the xeon cpu's?

my xeon x5690 is screaming for some more 5g action :)

Stage 5: 3DMark Sky Diver .... stupid stage ...

December 19, 2014 at 4:48:26 PM UTC

Honestly now, from all the benchmarks we have, was it necessary to make 3 stages from the same benchmark ?

It feels like benching catzilla 570 p,720p,1080 p or whatever resolutions they have, maybe next CC will be like this.

Spi32m was the only one important, and worthy of a Country Cup and maybe Ice storm, because it had special requirements.

Xtu a stupid benchmark, limited on a few generations of cpu and only intel ,FSU and sky diver,c'mon ???

December 19, 2014 at 5:05:32 PM UTC

Well, basically we had the same benchmark at all 4 3D stages. It's like...I'll better stop now.

I hope you won't do the same sh!t next year.

December 19, 2014 at 5:07:05 PM UTC

Partnership with Futuremark coming up next year? :D

December 19, 2014 at 5:15:59 PM UTC

Futermark Cup 2015. :)

Also, I have a feeling that superpi won't be included in next year's Country Cup (or Futermark Cup)...

December 19, 2014 at 6:43:37 PM UTC

what is the desision of the moderators over the xeon cpu's?

my opinion is all ok or non ok!

i just traid to submit whit my xeon x5690 cpu,but it don't like my cpu :(

no sandbaging or be a dick, just my opinion for it

December 19, 2014 at 7:08:13 PM UTC

Futermark Cup 2015. :)

more benching, less whining :D

December 20, 2014 at 12:24:32 AM UTC

Moar pew pew, less QQ

December 20, 2014 at 4:47:20 AM UTC

TIK TOK TIK TOK.

9 hours to go and stil not alowed to submid whit my xeon x5690

a 7 minut submission lost for Belgium if this cpu whil not be alowed.

Sorry for the other whit cpu's thad ar moded in the database to gulftown.

If my westmere-ep is not alowed, non westmere-ep is alowed or modded to gulstown in the database!

NOT SANDBAGING OR A DICK,JUST MY OPINION !

December 20, 2014 at 5:52:10 AM UTC

We'll add the Westmere temporarily to Gulftown (like we did for the other CPUs actually)

December 20, 2014 at 8:18:57 AM UTC

thx score is up

December 20, 2014 at 10:19:50 AM UTC

beware the new level of sandbagging :D

December 20, 2014 at 10:25:39 AM UTC

We planned to submit recalculation on results on more than 30 users, hopefully people won't be able to submit in that period of time :)).

December 20, 2014 at 12:37:13 PM UTC

Great idea. Let's crash the server. :))))

December 20, 2014 at 12:46:05 PM UTC

To you guys as well. One hell of a great competition between a lot of good teams. Nothing like a little rivalry. :)

December 20, 2014 at 2:17:07 PM UTC

Nice work Romanians, Indonesians and French. Some serious Pi scores. Look at that Wiz score, holy smokes batman :)

Our boys put it together beautifully as expected. They all love superpi over at OCAU.

December 20, 2014 at 2:21:51 PM UTC

Aussies going for a clean sweep, madness! :)

December 20, 2014 at 2:25:00 PM UTC

This was a lot of fun. Some very tense moments there with the Romanians, Indonesians and French. Well done to all!

December 20, 2014 at 2:49:14 PM UTC

Congrats to all participants. It was a real pleasure!

December 20, 2014 at 2:50:07 PM UTC

lol

looks like we dont need to sandbag the last stage boys, maybe just drop the big backup :D

December 20, 2014 at 3:09:35 PM UTC

drop them alll

i want to goto bed lol

December 20, 2014 at 3:12:13 PM UTC

December 20, 2014 at 3:50:57 PM UTC

good work all

December 20, 2014 at 4:08:36 PM UTC

Congrats for aussie and France

December 20, 2014 at 4:19:48 PM UTC

Phew. Finally it's done. The last score almost didn't make it since the cpu/mobo seems to be damaged after the pi session. Quite lucky that the scores came out (although not very efficient clock-wise).

Big Congratulations for Team AU, Great Team Effort, and well-deserved clean sweep win! (1st ever, afaik). Also for France & Romania, really nice competition during the Ice Storm, and Pi stage.

It was really tiring, but we had fun overclocking for these last couple of days. Great job everyone, see you guys in another competition! ;)

December 20, 2014 at 7:09:55 PM UTC

Congrats to everyone. Australia confirm that they are very strong and the team to beat. France was also really strong this year. They confirmed that their 4th place (am I right?) from last year wasn't by mistake. Indonesia has a style that I personally don't like at all. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing to share with any of them or contest their skills. Once again congrats to all of you guys! :)

Also, I was expecting more from USA and Germany, I don't know what happend with them...

December 20, 2014 at 7:11:15 PM UTC

australia was far too good, no chance for other country :D . Well done guys, you deserve it, and no need to sandbag when you are above everyone ;).

@Romania and Indonesia : It was nice battle, nice to see you every years on top.

We run out of luck for last stage, 290x died without any reason, it was alive for FSU, and dead when we plug it for last round...

December 20, 2014 at 7:34:59 PM UTC

We are 7-th =))) Belarus OC Team!

December 20, 2014 at 7:36:51 PM UTC

Congrats Aussie' and others who participated.France was a real delight for us,especially in the spi32m stage,i am sorry that i couldn't do more for my country this year, i broke my cpu exactly 1 month before competition start,it would've been helpfull for the ice storm stage.

I like this kind of competitions, which involve a lot of people and team spirit,i only wish in the future to be more fun and less sandbaging.

It's a competition that last's 2 months you shoudn't submit only in the last days.

Nevertheless to the competition organizers - please don't make the same mistake to next CC ,like you did this year, having the same benchmark in 3 stages. In rest i have nothing to object, crongrats.

December 20, 2014 at 8:25:12 PM UTC

Well done Straya, bad spirit but awesome skills and scores! Congratz also to Indonesia and Romania, nice fight :)

Thanks also to HWBot for hosting a great comp.

December 20, 2014 at 9:54:18 PM UTC

Well done all, it is time for me to move out from the Dutch regions, noone really cares to defend the national flag... sad story in fact...

Merry XMASSSSS & Happy New Year

December 20, 2014 at 10:09:35 PM UTC

Well done everyone that subbed a score this year and thanks Hwbot for a fun comp was certainly some tense moments in several stages.

Great Effort from our Ozzy lads. Great community and good benchers from Rookie all the way to the Pro's had us in with a good chance to do 2 years in a row well done guys :celebration:

LETS MAKE IT 3

December 20, 2014 at 10:41:25 PM UTC

Great job all and was awesome to be part of the team this year. Also a congratulations to all the people from the other countries who pushed hard and did their best, hope you all also had a great time.

December 20, 2014 at 11:16:22 PM UTC

Congratulations to everyone participating.

Maybe next year no futuremark, there's plenty of other benchmarks to choosing from.

And if you'd just run this in November instead of Xmas i think everyone would be happy.

December 21, 2014 at 12:14:11 AM UTC

Congratulations to everyone on a job well done!! A top effort!! Brilliant scores by the French, Romanians and Indonesians.

Was some fun benching that's for sure.

December 21, 2014 at 12:41:38 AM UTC

Congrats to the winners, fantastic effort on your part.

Thanks to all who participated and especially to those who organized the country cup this year- Great fun - even for an amateur like me :)

December 21, 2014 at 7:53:24 AM UTC

Great job Australia, France and Indonesia! Congrats to you and everyone else! We've done our best on air/water but can't match the LN2 :).

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

December 21, 2014 at 6:20:12 PM UTC

LN2 + Bining = win big countries ... hit & run ........... no tweaks ... no big skills

wrong , when you benching on cold especially on LN2 need more skills that you think, os tweak´s are legend :)

congrats to winner and other participated country!

December 21, 2014 at 8:14:44 PM UTC

Was some fun benching that's for sure.

Precisely how much benching did you do?

December 21, 2014 at 8:37:57 PM UTC

I sense some negativity around here...

December 21, 2014 at 8:47:32 PM UTC

Precisely how much benching did you do?

There was offers;) for the 2500k, I think.

December 21, 2014 at 9:24:01 PM UTC

I sense some negativity around here...

Yeah its a bit of a shame really. Some people are unhappy no matter what, and will always spend a lot of time and energy complaining / criticising instead of getting on and doing something about it. I guess this is just human nature in action!!!

Anyway - thanks for the competition HWBOT. It was very intense and a lot of fun. It certainly got the Australian community very mobilised and focused, and it was great to see new guys stepping up and contributing to our results - even on air / water / ice etc!! The low clock challenge and enthusiast stages were a really good idea - and gave plenty of space for others to contribute to the cause.

Tops off a great year of competitions and events - love ya work!!!!

December 21, 2014 at 9:45:06 PM UTC

+1, had some great fun, met some new guys and got them benching. Had some great help with tweaks from the team for benches throughout as well.

December 22, 2014 at 12:51:30 AM UTC

Looked like a perfect year for the Aussie boys, shame I wasn't able to have some fun too because of uni work. :(

December 22, 2014 at 4:58:19 AM UTC

Awesome stuff guys!

We're also taking notes for next year. How did you guys like the 24h stage?

December 22, 2014 at 7:06:12 AM UTC

Hectic and stressful.

Good fun though.

December 22, 2014 at 7:45:55 AM UTC

Pjp, please think about having the times ending at different hours to make it fun/fair/annoying for all countries. Maybe more than just Futuremark for 3d as well. More stages would be cool too.

December 22, 2014 at 8:25:14 AM UTC

Awesome stuff guys!

We're also taking notes for next year. How did you guys like the 24h stage?

Not to speak bad of it, but that stage give us nightmares X_X. We didn't even got a single score on that platform until the last 15 minutes, since we was still trying to get better vishera pi stage beforehand. We didn't do any remount, and just use the last setup and install GPUs. I Guess condensation from previous session make the system behave erratically.

But well, the stage is fun in its own way, nice to have variations in the competition mechanics :D

December 22, 2014 at 8:38:00 AM UTC

Awesome stuff guys!

We're also taking notes for next year. How did you guys like the 24h stage?

My 2 cent : 24h is too short.

That's what happened to us :

No french overclocker had CPU + MB + VGA for this round. So I gave my motherboard to Strategos San 2-3 days before the last stage, and He had to bench for country cup last stage.

Hardware was OK, but when stage started, 290x died in a minute....

Some guys has 290x, but NO FX

Some guys has FX but NO AMD vga...

Strategos San home is 500km far from mine, in 24h we can't plan anything.

In 24h we can't buy hardware (delivery is too long and no shop on the street for this kind of hardware, only online shop).

The only solution we find was to ask Dane to come to my place with his motherboard, and to use my 280x... but 280x is not good enough to compete, and no time to used it under cold. We tried to mount pot 30 minutes before the end, with no insulation, but it was to wet, and VGA stopped working after 5 minutes... Anyway it was already too late.

fortunately we still managed to be 2nd at the end, BUT if we lose Country cup due to 24h stage (no hardware = no score = out) we will be pissed off.... We all spend a lot of money/time to do our best. It will be unfair to lose this way

If you still want "24h round", it could be possible BUT try to choose common hardware ( for exemple intel cpu.... I love AMD, but no one used it... so if you have trouble and only 24h you are f**k up.

We have family life / job.... 24h is too short. It could be really nice if you are "free", but if you have to take day off or cancel travel for benching :( . I asked strategos San to do last round without me, I had already spent too much time doing overclocking for this CC (not good for son / wife). And at the end I had to tell my wife she had to go without me cause we had trouble on last stage.

***********

Otherwise it was a nice CC, low clock , rookie, 3d, 2d :D

Number of stage/ submission was also good

December 22, 2014 at 9:31:48 AM UTC

I think the 24 hour round was pretty cool, but I had a 12 hour work shift that day and left me very little time to get the system going. Maybe next time give more notice on the hardware requirements and just give 24 hours notice on the bench?

December 22, 2014 at 10:28:59 AM UTC

]

LN2 + Bining = win big countries ... hit & run ........... no tweaks ... no big skills

This is wrong on so many levels... bench more, talk less.

I have only been involved in this Country Cup as a mentor so I didn't watch it that close. But from what I have seen, Australia, France and Indonesia did a really good job and really put in a lot of effort. You have my congratulations gentlemen!

With 99% of the scores on ambient cooling, the Romanian boys did a pretty awesome job snatching 4th place and they should be proud. However, there is much to be improved, starting from tweaking details, to not making silly mistakes and in the end to attitude. The effort put in this year was good, but it can be better.

Regarding rules and HWBot, I say that playing with the same rules is fair for everybody. Though I must admit I don't like XTU and I also don't like seeing no other 3D but 3DMark... The rules were interesting this year but the last stage for instance could have been a 2k1 with some cap in Nature or Dragothic or something like that.

All in all, it was an interesting experience even from the side of the battlefield...

December 22, 2014 at 10:59:11 AM UTC

we really liked . but the small number of overclockers and lack of top-end hardware is not allowed to rise above.

secret stage - a very good idea. do not need to do it longer than 24 hours. so chances are equalized . we had despite the fact that there was a working day.

Sorry for the expression, I referred to the last stage ... where could be a 3DMark 2001, where are many tweaks

Correct expression : Top scores are for LN2 + Bining = win big countries , 3DMark Sky Diver stupid bench ... hit & run ... no tweaks ... no big skills

Congrats Australia for all stages and others who participated. Merry Christmas and a happy new year
