Official thread for the HWBOT OC Challenge February 2010. Questions, remarks and discussion about the contest go in here.

If the mainboard you use is NOT present in the HWBOT hardware database, please PM me and I will add it as fast as possible.

January 31, 2010 at 11:47:14 PM UTC

nice, just got 2 754 boards the last week. still need a good one tough. :D

January 31, 2010 at 11:48:59 PM UTC

Shhhht Karl ... I'm *ebaying*

February 1, 2010 at 12:36:07 AM UTC

Time to fry my old 754 combo...:D

February 1, 2010 at 1:10:12 AM UTC

Ready to go :P

February 1, 2010 at 2:20:20 AM UTC

Newbie ask

'highest reference clock' : is this total cpu clock or only HTT clock ?

February 1, 2010 at 2:22:51 AM UTC

Newbie ask

'highest reference clock' : is this total cpu clock or only HTT clock ?

it's htt clock or fsb on other plattforms ;)

look here http://hwbot.org/rankings/benchmark/reference_clock/info

February 1, 2010 at 2:43:52 AM UTC

ic ic, thx Turrican. In my country competition like this has been done 1 year ago, and I got only 425 MHz with AMD platform :(.

Now let's try with 754 Socket, I still have an LP NF3-250GB n Sempy 2500+. Yeeeah at least hit 350MHz HTT clock :P

February 1, 2010 at 7:30:48 AM UTC

Neat!

I just happen to have one 3000+ and Asus K8N-E combo here, tho the board doesn't post yet. vDDR doesn't seem to give anykinda out put.

February 1, 2010 at 9:15:54 AM UTC

Anyone knows which chipset clocks best, nF3, nF4 or via K8T ?

February 1, 2010 at 9:17:25 AM UTC

No idea.

I suppose NF4 would be better, but some NF3 went really crazy.

February 1, 2010 at 9:56:16 AM UTC

yeah, nf3/4 are for sure the best i think. :)

February 1, 2010 at 1:53:01 PM UTC

n don't forget with nForce 6100 :)

February 1, 2010 at 2:29:34 PM UTC

I wonder if my semi-dead 250gb can do some damage here... I have two more in Germany that should work better.

February 1, 2010 at 3:07:29 PM UTC

hehe, competing with knut should be fun. :D

February 1, 2010 at 3:33:59 PM UTC

Have a Sempron 3000+ and a Biostar GF6100 anywhere lying around. Lets see if i can get anything outta it...

February 1, 2010 at 3:34:46 PM UTC

Not sure I'll win this, though... HTT clocking isn't anything I've done much before. I saw 410 on that board on a Clawhammer, before some chip burned. The funny thing is that it works at stock voltage, but 1.8v is not possible anymore - then it just shuts down:D

February 1, 2010 at 3:49:59 PM UTC

i have a 3000+ with out the ihs lol i monna do some damage with that

i'll try do some damage lol

February 1, 2010 at 8:33:42 PM UTC

OOoops I forget to add "HWBOT" in this CPUZ submission :(

Next try with water n ice at CPU, perhaps can be better HTT ;)

February 1, 2010 at 8:36:49 PM UTC

You can always re-submit a validation file and attach different name ;)

ASRock K8A780LM with 780 chipset FTW :)

February 2, 2010 at 12:54:13 PM UTC

Where would we be without Asrock? :D

February 2, 2010 at 8:53:46 PM UTC

Hmmm.... This looks interesting.

May have to try it and see what I can come up with here.

February 3, 2010 at 4:55:29 AM UTC

Are all Sempron 754 socket come with locked multiplier? In my DFI, I set Sempron 2500+ multiplier 4 or 5 but in windows always 7. Is my board have bug with this ?

February 3, 2010 at 8:36:34 AM UTC

If i remember correctly, processor must support cool'n'quiet technology to allow you to lower it's multiplier. Thus you should use sempron 3000+ or higher.

Yeah... My thoughts, too.

February 3, 2010 at 8:11:13 PM UTC

How much do you ask for in terms of quality of the rig picture? I only have a Nokia 6230, and it always give me rather grainy pics. Better than nothing, I guess - but good enough?

February 3, 2010 at 9:34:17 PM UTC

There are no strict rules, but you really don't have a cheap digicam?

Nope, believe it or not. I always find so much interesting stuff on ebay:p

I MAY be able to ask a friend of mine to take a better pic, but cant really promise anything.

February 4, 2010 at 10:47:21 AM UTC

good work :D

February 7, 2010 at 7:33:45 PM UTC

Wouldn't it be nice if a sponsor or someone offered up a small trinket to the winner.

A dice pot might be nice. Not mentioning any names of coarse. *hint hint*:D

February 9, 2010 at 6:15:19 AM UTC

hmm im tempted to do some ocing, don't remember my K8N going quite that high on the bus though. Ill have to check.

February 12, 2010 at 4:17:34 PM UTC

Nice one dude! The comp is finally heating up as expected.

Gotta give you the kudo's for that run and good job!

February 27, 2010 at 6:19:25 AM UTC

What a good run,Bones.

488.18 MHz is a new record !

February 28, 2010 at 11:29:50 AM UTC

Well, competition ended and placid won, but congrats to him and Bones for a great finish

February 28, 2010 at 11:47:23 AM UTC

Sorry, small error. The competition end time was correct, but the stage end time was incorrect. I fixed that now.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

February 28, 2010 at 2:24:16 PM UTC

Yes I don't have any backup anymore, and I hope can see 500 or more HTT in last minute, go go go push it more guys.

Congrats Placid!

You won by less than a single MHz and who would have thought it would be that close of a finish.

My MB simply woudn't give anymore for me to use. I did get the same clock at one time but locked up before I could get the validation.

That's how it goes sometimes.

I also must give a shoutout to Oxyyy for pushing his NF3 so far!

WOW!

He deserves credit for making it competitve against a MB model and chipset that was clearly dominant.

I'd like to suggest giving him some form of achivement award just for doing that.

Although I didn't win out, I'm not worried so much about it. Just means I have work to do yet.

Again, congrats Placid - You pulled it off and deserved the win by getting it done.

February 28, 2010 at 11:12:15 PM UTC

Congrats to the winner, and congrats to you Doc for finding the right platform combination to get those big HTT's. You represented CP well.:woot:

February 28, 2010 at 11:23:03 PM UTC

Congrats :)

DITTO.

And a big pat on the back from me to placid / placido-oc for a great benchmark run.

awesome work :celebration:

March 1, 2010 at 1:50:26 AM UTC

@Bones : Thx a lot. Basicaly I'm imitating your platform from your first 485 MHz validation and I'm just lucky to get only one step clockgen higher than you. My DFI Inf NF4-4X was die cause small accident when attaching pot on chipset :(

@All : Thx for congratulation, I'm very happy today :).

Sorry to hear it died and it happens you know.

Yeah, it was literally a one-click difference in scores. I'm glad mine is still kicking along after what I did to it during this time.

I guess my first posted run was a giveaway to what MB you'd need but I expected that to happen anyway after posting it. Good to hear it served you well and gave it's all in the process.

Once again, congrats!
