Good morning, pcmv - great! I love this benchmark!
And no six core? - this makes it harder, although 4 core procs can do well in this bench also!
Just to be sure - older benches are ok to submit (prior to 01Nov?)
Yeah, limited to 4x CPU because I want to see CPU limited runs :-)
Older benches can be submit as long as they fit the limitations
Mr. Massman, have you run pcmv against many single cores?
Its a very tough bench for those little guys.
Mr Massman, Question sir -
Cpu-z showing mainboard?
Most of us have not been doing this.
Many previous benches will not be legal to submit for this competition if you require this.
Just wanted to make sure you knew.
Can a valid futurmark link be supplied in place of the subscores in the screenshot?
I have never run PCMark Vantage in my life ... so this challenge will be the first time
The more stress is put on the CPU, the better. I like tough benchmarks.
That's okay. The competition is mainly to motivate people to bench something new, it's not to get people to submit old results.
No, subtest scores must be in the screenshot.
One thing I noticed... the way the rules are written it sounds like you can disable cores on something like a 980x and bench to get a nice score in the 2 core category. Is that on purpose?
It goes a bit like Knopfrlerbruce's question: can we use a 4-core CPU and disable HT (Intel only) or do we have to use 4-core CPU with no HT ?
It's like it is in normal HWBOT: you're allowed to unlock cores and play in a 'higher' league, but you're not allowed to disable cores to play in a 'lower' league. So: unlocking 2 to 4 is allowed (playing in 4), but disabling 6 to 1 is not allowed (you'll still be playing in 6-core league).
Hyperthreading is a feature, so of course you can enable it for the 4-core category.
Nice OC challenge this month!
Could you please update stages with core count. Now looks like we are benching multiprocessor systems.... 1x CPU instead of 1x Core CPU....
?
It says "use X processor core(s)" ... that's #cores?
Sorry for another lamer's question. Core i5 670 with 2 core and 4 threads will be placed on 2 core stage isn't it? If yes - this will be not fair coz HT gives some boost. AMD cpuz haven't HT....
Just look at Wprime rankings with 2x CPUs and see whre AMD is.
You are correct: 2 cores and 4 threads go into the 2-core competition.
Why? Hyperthreading is a feature Intel implented to improve the multi-threading performance. It's a FEATURE, just like 'amount of L2 cache' is
I guess the problem is with core count getting more and more blurred. HT is an investment in die area that does not increase core count but increases performance. Next gen AMD CPUs have something opposite - decrease of die area (per 2 cores) enabling higher core counts. Core count based rankings will be even more Intel-biased then, unless we count bulldozer modules as cores (which is wrong) or logical cores as cores (which is also wrong) or base our rankings on thread count instead of core count (which will unleash a storm of whining and outrage).
So it's good to have 2 and 4 core configs on intel...... While 1 and 3 cores only AMD...
This can be interesting...
Does this mean that we dont need the mainboard tab from previous benchmarks to enter this competition ?
No, it means that many members not being able to submit old results is not a problem for me. As these kinds of challenges are meant for people to make new scores
ok thanks
if we have a URL for a top score will that work in lieu of a screenie?
No, screenie is mandatory, URL is additional
i can not submit Phenom II 710 with 4-core unlocked on 4-core category
the error message: "Use 4 processor core(s) in total"
Can the people who have problems submitting with unlocked cores post the URLs of the scores here, please?
I will manually link them to the competition untill the bug is solved coding-wise.

thanks
Added to competition
i have the same problem with a x2 550 unlock 3cores.

thanks
massman please add to masape
Added to competition
so, have you a response for this answer ?
mi submision is for 3 cores, but its in a 4 cores competition.

thanks for all.
Oh, sorry, my bad!
Fixed it.
Massman, please add my two submissions to competition:
One for X3 CPU:

And two for X4 CPU:

Thanks
Hi all,
Trying to run a Sempron 140... Always black windows at the end of game test 1
Somebody found the way to fix it?
Done!
Hi. I have athlon 2 X2 220 CPU, with AM3 socket and C3 stepping. It's missing in submition CPU list and after unlock showed in CPU-Z like phenom 2 X4 920 with stepping window blank.
Could you add CPU in list, coz we are planning to make some submitions with this CPU soon.
the cpu is already there
http://www.hwbot.org/hardware/processor/athlon_ii_x2_220
sometimes yu can wait it out sometimes it never changes, i haven't figured it out either.
Given what you have to put up with sometimes, i can understand how you might feel you are 70.
Thanks for the answer SteveRo, i've tried to figure it out for hours but the issue seems to be random.
Sorry guys for my english
No idea, it does it even at stock here Must be some caching problem. Weird thing is if you only select the gaming suite, then the forst benchie runs fine and smooth... if you do the pcmark suite it runs choppy and eventually craps out...
can i use this one for 1 core competition???
Hehehe if it was up to me : Nope , coz you use in reality two processor cores... not one real and one HT one like some...
If you are allowed it's an easy win there
No.
In total you use 2x1=2 cores
but the cpu-z shows 1 core 2 threads
You'll see that the #CPU field is active, indicating there are multiple physical CPUs.
Thanks Also at stock here, sometimes it's Windows which stops 3DMV, sometimes black screen after Gaming Test 1... I would say 1/10 run ends ok.
We'll try that under Ln² next monday, I think it's gonna be funny with that issues
I had one succesfull run today (1/23 lol), it continued after the black screen after a few loops, score was too low though to compete I'm gonn a try phase in the weekend, though the cpu will limit me at 4.2Ghz max
I posted our issue on the FM webbie.. Jarnis is intrigued ( which is a good thing lol )
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1500230
is that enough?
Enough for what?
The competition is a single core competition. Using two times a single core equals ... using two cores. And two cores is not one core.
If you open the CPU-Z application, you'll notice that the active processor box is active. For dumps that might be different.
