Godlike Z77 ftw.. or no. HW Godlike? * X99 or god-will-like kill your hopes of competing in this comp

July 20, 2015 at 1:41:23 PM UTC

I like the rules :) especially thoses parts :

It is not allowed to remove submissions from the competition

Unfair play may lead to disqualification. Examples of unacceptable behavior

Changing League before/during the competition for strategic purposes

Influence others’ submissions to profit your ranking

Deliberately forget/make a mistake in the submission process and ask later for change

:) Sadly I need the X99 Setup to participate.

Good luck everyone !

As against XTU in the rules page, there are links to the template, but not on the course page ??? Why?

I think he'll correct that everyone put a screen with the template of the course right?

The XTU stage doesn't require a screenshot :)

July 21, 2015 at 8:16:40 AM UTC

Ok, if this is not mandatory, why in the rules page there is the Wallpaper, the stage 1?

That may be not mandatory, but it's good to put it anyway? no? :)

July 21, 2015 at 9:39:10 AM UTC

The Extreme battle does require a wallpaper for stage 1

July 21, 2015 at 4:39:45 PM UTC

Really think we should require SS for every single bench. Much more consistent experience that way.

July 21, 2015 at 11:41:07 PM UTC

For the 3D stage, is there any limitations or requirements for which GPU ?

Just in case i need to buy one.

- IGP for the ambient 3D

- MSI GTX 960 for the extreme 3D

July 22, 2015 at 6:59:41 AM UTC

GPUPI with an IGP, I think we will encounter a problem, IGP does not have dual presision required to GPUPI. :)

July 23, 2015 at 2:12:12 AM UTC

Owh, let me verify this. Thanks for the heads up!

July 23, 2015 at 2:23:56 AM UTC

Ok, you are right. Checking with MSI to replace the benchmark :)

July 24, 2015 at 1:44:29 PM UTC

Hello, I have the folowing motherboard :

MSI Z68A-G45

Can I still compete here ?

July 24, 2015 at 2:17:37 PM UTC

i have used msi h81 motherboard and submission accepted. is it ok?

July 24, 2015 at 2:32:59 PM UTC

pl.confirm whether i can use h81m-p33 motherboard. i have overclocked g3258 to 4.7ghz earlier on that board and planning to use it for all the submissions in this competitions.

July 25, 2015 at 1:37:30 PM UTC

minimum temperatures for the tests is 20 ? or load must be higher than 20 ?

thanks raul

July 25, 2015 at 1:43:31 PM UTC

Motherbord accept:

MSI Z77/Z87/Z97/X79/X99

July 25, 2015 at 2:59:14 PM UTC

i know the accepted chipsets. that's why i am asking can i use it? i have a msi h81 motherboard . anyway with h81, i can only overclock g3258. no comparision with other chipsets like z77,z87,z97 etc.

July 25, 2015 at 3:05:50 PM UTC

if allowed h81 board, i can still be comeptitive.

ok. i have removed my h81 submissions.

August 4, 2015 at 1:17:31 AM UTC

greetings, I would ask whether here in the competition may be used several intel processors, as I see that a competitor has used 2 different processors ???????????????????????????????????

August 4, 2015 at 12:08:39 PM UTC

Of course you can ^^

For example, XTU top scores will be with good 4790K or 5820/5930K, but G3258 will dominate Hwbot Prime stage as usual ^^

August 11, 2015 at 3:50:23 AM UTC

I have to insist on my question. I would like to know the 3D part of the competition stages and hardware. IGP, if it applies, is simply...well, ridiculous.

Overclocking IGP is actually playing with BCLK and GT voltages.

This CAN'T be considered a 3D competition.

It relies to the processor ability to overclock, and to which extent IGP.

It is solely a motherboard and processor issue and not knowledge and overclocking capability of any user on any specific graphics card.

If it is true, it is really a shame.

No need to use bold caracters and be agressive...

Benchmarks will be revealed at a later date and YES, 3D Battle for Ambient is IGP.

Overclocking GPU is actually playing with frequencies and vGPU/vRAM, no difference.

3D benchmarks are 3D, no matter you run them on GPU or IGP.

Ambient users tipically don't wish and/or can't afford to invest extra money in the setup they most likely use 24/7 only for an online competition. What would really be a shame is to force them to buy a specific graphic card.

August 13, 2015 at 5:27:19 PM UTC

Can't upload HWbot prime result due to ''The CPU load temperature must be higher than 20°C'' although temp is higher

Why is that?

August 13, 2015 at 7:57:15 PM UTC

ok solved...i put it manually

August 15, 2015 at 4:21:31 PM UTC

I take it that the use of any means to cool the heatsink, radiator etc other than the ambient air is prohibited in the ambient 2d comp ?

August 15, 2015 at 10:02:56 PM UTC

Hey cssorkinman. My understanding is ice bath is allowed... Just need load temps over 20C.

August 15, 2015 at 10:59:24 PM UTC

@pepinorang stage 3 I have to add the link ?

but does not see the model and the bios of the motherboard ?

August 16, 2015 at 4:04:43 AM UTC

I appreciate the replies metal, george, hoping a hwbot official would pop in and have a little clarification for me. Just want a fair chance to compete, if it's anything goes as long as you show a load temp of 20 C then so be it, if it's no using any means other than ambient air that's fine too.

Great sponsors, great prizes :)

August 16, 2015 at 5:36:10 AM UTC

Too bad I don't have access to anything that would give a huge help with temps, just good ole fashioned custom water with high ambient temps :)

August 16, 2015 at 8:34:50 AM UTC

MSI and HWBOT have the right to make the rules as they like.

But..

When you allow on 2D the use of any processor and even multiple processors, ranging from 60 to 1200$, why don't you allow similarly

the use of any card on 3D ?

Just a rhetoric question.

Some decisions are way out of any rationalism.

Don't bother answering man...

I quit the competition.

There are people already running Single stage on processors at -30 idle

and 20 load, and think that others are either stupid or blind.

And all the sensitivity and "no expense" idea for 3D is IGP.

Yeah, sure.

HAPPY COMPETITION EVERYONE !!!

if you're referring to me saying they use single stage you're wrong .

I also have several backups with my g3258

this is what I did in the competition asus without delid

http://img.hwbot.org/u45698/image_id_1449623.jpg

now with delid I managed to do a lot more , I did 5,2ghz with only 1.55volt temp min 30 max 58 using ice water .

I can also post videos .

but I believe that you have not thought of something , maybe just maybe hwbotprime records the minimum and maximum temperature automatically so as XTU

August 16, 2015 at 3:24:01 PM UTC

As the rules say, max load temps should be 20+.

I do not make the rules.

In order to have 20 max at full blast either with a 4790K or a G3258,

both running above 5ghz, one must have idle temps -30.

I do not consider this ambient competition.

Either a powerful water chiller is needed or an SS calibrated to allow 20+.

:woot:

:celebration:

August 16, 2015 at 3:25:53 PM UTC

You are terribly wrong to make assumptions like this.

And I am not referring only to the competition.

I repeat :

As the rules say, max load temps should be 20+.

I do not make the rules.

In order to have 20 max at full blast either with a 4790K or a G3258,

both running above 5ghz, one must have idle temps -30.

I do not consider this ambient competition.

Either a powerful water chiller is needed or an SS calibrated to allow 20+.

It is simple math man.

Since you posted -

You have a submission with a G3258 running at 5100 I think, with max temps 20-23 on each core respectively.

Unless your HWmonitor image lies.

What am I to believe ?

Ice water ?

Maybe, if the ice water was at -30 and your pump can handle such

low temps....OK.

What I am saying, on a broader basis, is that I do not consider this ambient.

Most rookies and Novice players do not have any idea, yet, of what we are talking about.

I respect them.

And when I compete I do it with plain water and a loop. Or an AIO.

I have a piotres cascade with -114 idle on a 400W dummy load and

-93 at full blast on a 5960X running at 5.7ghz.

I also have two Piotres water chillers.

I DO NOT USE THEM WHEN THE COMPETION SAYS "AMBIENT".

Wikipedia : Ambient condition of operation = Equal or above

ambient temperature.

That is all.

HWbot may consider ambient otherwise.

And the specific MSI completion says 3D with IGP.

Maybe it is just me, but all this is so grey, like a cloudy day with lots of

fog.

So I am out, only for the respect I owneto the other players, who indeed

fight with ambient means ( the vast majority of them ).

For the hell of it, I can install my cascade on the 4790K and the G3258,

calibrate it to load temps of 20 and get my 4790K at 5.5ghz.

I suppose you would like that, and not only you.

Respect to all.

you can do it but know that you will find, and very easy to integrate into the program the recording of the temperature during the benchmark (in my file that is used to validate the test hwbotprime has already integrated temperature control but I can be wrong)

August 16, 2015 at 6:04:54 PM UTC

you can do it but know that you will find, and very easy to integrate into the program the recording of the temperature during the benchmark (in my file that is used to validate the test hwbotprime has already integrated temperature control but I can be wrong)

It is possible HWMonitor glitched out. I know when doing Geekbench my HWiNFO64 glitches out alot and shows cores with a max temp of around 40C when in reality it's more like 70C. CPU Package does show the correct temp however.

August 19, 2015 at 9:29:16 AM UTC

Hi Raul - No problem that the validation link does not show full info, you have complete screenshot including results and launch window that shows mainboard used - valid comp score for me

August 19, 2015 at 11:38:55 PM UTC

Man when I saw this MSI challenge for Ambient users I got excited because I thought id actually be able to compete using fans and my AIO or custom water system but after seeing the top resulted using ice bucks and other deceives to cool there cpus down passed 20C before the load temperatures there's no way for me to keep pushing my setup =/ but I tried hopefully the 3D wont be so hard =p

p.s. if they really wanted to give people who don't have extra parts and money a chance they should have said idle temps had to be above 25C

good luck everyone

August 20, 2015 at 12:45:51 AM UTC

GG on 2D everybody, seems a lot of people held onto their subs until the last minute.

August 20, 2015 at 5:05:09 PM UTC

hi , i've seen some submissions with hwmonitor only showing idle temp .

Is is allowed ?

In fact hwmonitor wasn' t even open while benching . They opened it just for the screenshot .

How is it possible to monitor load temperature then ?

thanks

I agree with you

August 20, 2015 at 7:09:19 PM UTC

First there was a cooling restriction . Now it is a temperature limit .

I like it better but 20°C load is too low

August 20, 2015 at 7:59:58 PM UTC

Criticism on temp limit is OK, but rules are same for everyone :) - we will consider the Input though, but I benched more than 10 years and I can tell you that it is not hard to manipulate "idle temperature".

August 20, 2015 at 8:30:46 PM UTC

I moderated the extreme part of this comp today, and there was nothing inadequate or foggy :) - because ther is not temp and no cooling limit. Maybe you should consider to use your enormous experience and move up to XOC

August 20, 2015 at 9:07:56 PM UTC

On the IGP-issue - contact MSI :D - I would not have chosen this as well for a comp like this :) - but please take in, if MSI would have asked for a highly expensive videocard result by, for example 980TI MSI or a 970 or whatever, criticism that money dominates comp would have been real big

On general rules for EL comps, we have to live with the limits, you know it as good as I do. Temps are hard to control when you have an online competition, as well as some other issue. Sure we see suspicious results, we sometimes ask for proof then including video stream for example. So, we also count for ethics and wait for the mistakes of the people who don´t have these :D

Enjoy the competition, as said before, a lot is compromize on rules but we tried to find a balance. Maybe not always successful :celebration:

August 20, 2015 at 11:08:25 PM UTC

define IGP for them then because i didn't know what it was until you said something about it and now i know it stands for Integrated Graphics Processor which is found on the cpu and can be used by connecting your monitor to your motherboard not a graphics card....

August 21, 2015 at 2:16:26 AM UTC

I thought we were all hardware enthusiasts here? People really don't know what IGP is? These are technically APU's after all.

I do agree benching IGP is kind of... odd. Literally never touched the IGP in my life. Will be an interesting learning experience for sure, just here to have some fun and learn.

August 21, 2015 at 8:26:32 AM UTC

SPD tab is mandatory to show that retail memory was used according to the rules and you forgot it, like several other people. No choice for me but to remove the score from competition. This is why I always emphasize that reading the rules carefully (general and stage rules) is important

This is bitter, but too late, and the screenshot is not valid anyway because it wasn´t obtained with integrated hwbotprime screenshot tool but with external capture.

What happened to the last results I posted? I was in 6th place. Everything has requested was there...

Checking my user profile I can see the geekbench score I posted a few hours before the end of the contest:

http://hwbot.org/submission/2953697_bm_eu_geekbench3___single_core_core_i5_4670k_5100_points

I saw this score in the leaderboard. Is there anything wrong with this submission?

The score I submitted to Hwbot Prime is completely missing. I even received an email saying it was "checked by a moderator" (Christian Ney):

Is there anything wrong with this submission?

You call an empty spd tab proof? Proof of what? - sorry, if you choose wrong slot for showing spd, a slot where no stick is inserted, you provide zero information and can only blame yourself that your score was removed. You left me no choice. And btw, I am a bit tired of people not reading the rules, providing wrong or zero information and then complaining :) - if spd is not shown by cpuz, you can as well use Aida, this was XP solution for Xtreme Battle

P.S. It is for sure no fun to remove and block scores, I am bencher myself and hate to see work and effort going to waste. Second point is, it causes time consuming work to block and remove scores, much more than just to check and give OK. So don´t be angry, but I am not too fond of killing more of my time by discussing the obvious

You are absolutely right. I feel like bashing my head strongly against the wall. I did try to put one last HwBot Prime score on the last minute, but the site wasn’t showing the option to input temps, so I couldn’t validate that entry into the contest: [br] [/br]

Since the score wasn’t going to grant me a higher leaderboard I didn’t stress about it. That one has the SPD tab on the right slot. Guess that’s a mistake I’ll never repeat again.
