Old School is Best School Round 1
Old School is Best School is a team competition series for the overclockers who enjoy tuning ancient hardware. The series includes five rounds with each two stages. Each round lasts two months, so you have plenty of time to track down all hardware.
In the first round of the Old School is Best School competition series, we compete in 3DMark03 and SuperPI 1M. In the first stage, 3DMar03, the hardware is limited to GeForce 5 series graphics cards and Socket 478/939 processors. In the second stage, SuperPI 1M, the hardware is limited to socket 939 processors at maximum 2801 MHz. For both stages a verification screenshot and system picture are required. Good luck!

The overview page and the stage pages are different. For the first stage is Socket 478 allowed? Or is this strictly a 939 competition?
Limited to Socket 939 - edited the overview page
Bad news
I have sole my Asus av8-mx some months ago
I have to buy another one
no gpu limit (x2 ) ? and is it allowed with 2-3-4 series geforce ? :-D
@T.Rex What do you mean? You have to use a Geforce 5-series graphics card, not 2 or 3 or 4. And Geforce 5xxx doesn't have SLI capability.
The QUESTION:
On main page: In the first round of the Old School is Best School competition series, we compete in 3DMark03 and SuperPI 1M. In the first stage, 3DMar03, the hardware is limited to GeForce 5 series graphics cards and Socket 939 processors. In the second stage, SuperPI 1M, the hardware is limited to socket 939 processors. There is also a frequency limitation of 2801 MHz. For both stages a verification screenshot and system picture are required. Good luck!
In STAGE-1: In the first round of the Old School is Best School competition series, we compete in 3DMark03 and SuperPI 1M. In the second stage, SuperPI 1M, the hardware is limited to socket 939 processors. There is also a frequency limitation of 2801 MHz. For both stages a verification screenshot and system picture are required. Good luck!
So what about socket 478 for 1st stage allow or not ??? And what about frequency - 2801 for both 3DMark03 and SuperPI 1M?
What about 2801MHz limitation? For both stages or only SuperPI 1M?
I think the idea was to have something like a s939 vs s478 competition. But as s478 cpus have no chance @2800Mhz against a s939 CPU, s478 got removed.
I guess there is no frequency cap in stage 1 but your're right by now Massman or Antinomy have to correct introduction text to avoid confusion.
Although it would have been interesting to see s478 against 939 in the GPU stage....
Relevant or not
I'd like to report here , that GPU-Z newer than 0.7.6 version , doesnt read correctly some of the 5900 series specs.
Hey all,
I tried to make the limitations a bit more clear for everyone. So, the 2.8GHz limitation is only for the SuperPI stage. For the 3Dmark stage you can use all the frequency you have in your chips, and use any 478 or 939 CPU
Dothan allowed?
Thought about this myself, but since cpu-z reports Dothan as 479, I don't think it's allowed.
What about AMD Athalon processors?
Not sure if I understand your question, but 939 only got Athlon and some Opterons so they are ofc allowed?
Sunday the stages end, I made a final check before this, please check tomorrow if result is still listed so that you have time to rebench in case you forgot background or score was removed, or in case you need to update system picture because a white tower might be not enough - I´m quite tolerant on this but recently there are people who report system pictures bc they seem to think this is more important than a valid, bullet-proof result and screen - so make sure that your picture shows the hardware you benched, otherwise there might be useless drama again
