ROG OC Showdown 2016 - Formula Series Round 1

ASUS Republic of Gamers is back with ROG OC Showdown 2016, a global online overclocking competition that invites both enthusiast and amateur overclockers to compete for exclusive prizes!

ROG OC Showdown 2016 Formula Series is made for the enthusiast overclockers that use air and water cooling to run their system. Formula Series Round 1 runs from August 26th through September 26th and Round 2 from October 28th to November 28th. The Top3 overall winner will get the chance to win in exclusivity the next-generation ROG motherboard.

Stages

Formula series

  • Round 1 runs from August 26th to September 26th
  • Round 2 runs from October 28th to November 28th

  • No extreme cooling (temp >30°C) allowed. For XTU load temp must be higher than 60°C
  • Only Rookie, Novice and Enthusiast leagues are eligible


General Competition Rules

  • Only one HWBOT account per overclocker is allowed.
  • HWBOT and ASUS reserve the right to reject any entry.
  • Employees of MB/VGA/MEM/CPU/PSU manufacturers are not allowed.
  • No hardware sharing is allowed (cf HWBOT 3.2.E)
  • It is not allowed to remove submissions from the competition.
  • After the end of the competition no more submissions or rectifications will be allowed. Plan your submission ahead!
  • Unfair play may lead to disqualification
  • Examples of unacceptable behavior:
    • Changing League before/during the competition for strategic purposes
    • Influence others’ submissions to profit your ranking
    • Deliberately forget/make a mistake in the submission process and ask later for change
  • In case of a tie, the fastest GPUPI for CPU 1B score will be the deciding benchmark


Hardware

  • Must use ASUS motherboard (Intel or AMD)
  • Must use commercially / retail available components at the beginning of the competition (no server).
  • We reserve the right to ban specific products
  • No limitation for graphics card


Submission

  • All submissions screenshot must include the official wallpaper of the round (download), except XTU
  • Submissions must include a picture of the rig (MB, VGA, memory, CPU cooler) during use, except XTU.


Points

  • Stage 1: 5-4-3-2-1
  • Stage 2: 20-19-18-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
  • Stage 3: 20-19-18-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1


Additional Points

  • On September 5 at 12pm (GMT+8), +1 point will be rewarded for the Top-10 overall ranking of the Round
  • On September 14 at 12pm (GMT+8), +1 point will be rewarded for the Top-10 overall ranking of the Round
  • At the end of Round 2, the overclocker with the maximum unique submission views will be awarded of +2 points
  • At the end of Round 2, complete all stages of round 1 +3 points and complete all stages of round 2 +3 points


Benchmarks

  • Stage 1: XTU
    • Score will be divided by the number of CPU cores
    • No screenshot required
    • Score = XTU score / (default) CPU cores
  • Stage 2: GPUPI 1B for CPU
    • Maximum 6 threads may be enabled
    • The best score win the stage

I like the fact that AMD is mentioned in the rules under "Hardware" and the only way to participate in Stage 1 is to use XTU.

 

AMD is not compatible with XTU and that makes this competition an Intel only.

 

There should be a way to use the validation in CPU-Z for submission to Stage 1.

 

This is not only a problem here, but something i notice in many competitions.

You can particpate in stages 2 and 3 - maybe you contact amd and propose they do a benchmark as well, if enough users ask for this they might bother to support oc with an AMD benchmark :)

 

P.S. We have two divisons at challengers which are AMD only if you want to participate, and on realbench competition, at least some of the stages are open for all hardware. To come back to Formula, I think the point distribution shows that we also appreciate the all open stages a lot
