Rookie Rumble #17

Welcome to the Rookie Rumble! We assume you arrived here via XTU and that’s great but the OC world offers much more. The Rumble introduces you to the concept of competitive overclocking. It’s a contest only for new overclockers like you. Good luck!

There are three stages, each with the same hardware restrictions but featuring a different benchmark. The benchmarks are: XTU, HWBOT Prime, and GPUPI for CPU - 100M. You can gather points by submitting in each of the three stages. The better the result, the more points you acquire and the higher you'll rank overall! Note that the validation process for the benchmarks is slightly different. Check out the rules section to learn more or drop us a message on our forums if you have a question.

what factors are used regarding the invite list for this competition?

April 11, 2015 at 4:32:46 PM UTC

Oops, that was a small bug. The competition is open to every Rookie overclocker! :)

(please let me know if you're not able to submit)

April 11, 2015 at 4:35:31 PM UTC

thanks,

fixed now

I can't compete against @Hilderman 4900MHz, was funny anyway

April 11, 2015 at 10:58:18 PM UTC

ok, another potentially stupid question

what are the settings for the GPUPI benchmark? i only have a selection for gtx 970.

no cpu setting.

I am def a rookie with all this

April 11, 2015 at 11:15:54 PM UTC

I did have CPU selection at GPUPI benchmark, that's weird

April 11, 2015 at 11:26:44 PM UTC

I'll try and post a screen of what i have.

weird. prob a rookie error, lol

April 12, 2015 at 1:50:32 AM UTC

had the same problem the furst time i traid this benchmark on a cpu,so no rookie error lol.

but than i found this post from GENiEBEN

Assuming it's an Intel CPU, download and install the runtime needed https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/opencl-drivers

April 12, 2015 at 6:24:26 AM UTC

awesome

thanks very much

April 12, 2015 at 2:24:35 PM UTC

yup, that worked, thanks again

April 12, 2015 at 7:04:38 PM UTC

@Hilderman, what voltage and cooling solution do you use for 4900MHz? If you don't mind sharing

April 13, 2015 at 8:50:55 PM UTC

1.43 ish, gone as high as 1.48 vcore but with little return.

Corsair H60i at the moment.

24/7 I run 4.6MHz @ 1.275 vcore

Hi @ all users in rookie rumble#17,

please look that you use the right settings for stage 3 benchmark... some users are posting their graphiscard scores instead of cpu scores.....the wrong timings... u have to post that timing from cpu in GPUPI for CPU - 100M....

Best Regards and have fun while benching ;-)

April 15, 2015 at 1:01:51 PM UTC

@Hilderman, u have to download some additionaly drivers from intel that u can see your processor in settingsmenu from GPUPI for CPU - 100M... its writen in the description on that hompage from GPUPI for CPU - 100M... in german and english ;-)

sorry fro my bad english guys...

It would be nice to make GPUPI a per-core stage, actually it favorise too much Xx9 platforms over Zx7 ones.

Per core benefits 8core event more since the score is "lower = better"

Yep but for NN#2, you make the GpuPi stage as a per-core stage.

http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?t=132135

In my memories, all multi-threaded benchmarks for RR (hwbot prime, cinebench ...) were implemented in a per-core stage.

April 19, 2015 at 7:47:47 PM UTC

Can we disable cores for HWPrime? or does it have to be all cores used(IE 4 cores disabled in a 5930K or 6 cores disabled in 5960X?)

April 20, 2015 at 8:15:42 PM UTC

!!! Plz guys make squre you are not wasting your efforts on HWBot Prime and GPU benchmark in Windows 8 or later OS versions !!!

Also make sure the scores are visible and the CPU-Z CPU and Memory tab are included in the screenshot

Hi Guys,

can please tell me anyone, how to handle that gpupi 100M CPU -benchmark.... ???? in my opinion its only a lucky thing to get a good result there.... i run that benchmark a few times all with same bios settings.... and always got different scores..... doesent matter if i overclock my cpu or not.... any suggestions here?

April 24, 2015 at 7:37:42 AM UTC

Seems like sharing is hard with local products on stage 3 ....
