GALAX GOC 2017 Finals

Welcome to the ninth edition of the GALAX Overclocking Carnival. The GOC 2017 live contest takes place on November 25th in Bangkok, Thailand with a select group of world class overclockers going head to head for $12,000 USD in prize money.

The GOC 2017 contest features twelve of the world's most talented overclockers who each proved their worth in the GOC 2017 Qualification contest. They are invited to score as highly as possible across four benchmarks using the latest GALAX HOF OC Lab Edition NVIDIA GeForce 1080 Ti graphics cards. A $12,000 USD prize pool is available for the winners, plus an additional $3,000 USD prize pool as a reward for any World Record scores made.

Contest Benchmarks

  • Geekbench3-Multi Core
    • Limits on CPU & Uncore clock at 6Ghz, +/- 10Mhz
    • No Limits on Memory Frequencies
  • 3DMark Time Spy Extreme Graphics Score
    • No limits on GPU / CPU or Uncore / Memory frequencies or number of CPU cores / threads enabled
  • 3DMark Time Spy Extreme Graphics Score
    • No limits on GPU / CPU or Uncore / Memory frequencies or number of CPU cores / threads enabled
  • GPUPI 1B
    • No limits on GPU / CPU or Uncore / Memory frequencies or number of CPU cores / threads enabled

Note: Contestants are free to bench the above in any sequence

Point Distribution per Benchmark: 50, 48, 46, 44, 42, 40, 38, 36, 34, 32, 30, 28, ...(follow that of the Qualifier)

In case of tie, 1st tie breaker is 3DMark Time Spy Extreme, 2nd tie breaker is GPUPI 1B


Contest Rules

  • Single card only, 1080ti HOF OC Lab Edition
  • X299 Platform
  • CPU Intel Core i7-7740X
  • CPU and Uncore Freq. will be limited to 6gb +/-10MHz, for Geekbench3-Multi Core only
  • No limits on VGA/System Memory clocks
  • No limits on VGA or Memory cooling
  • All benchmark scores must be validated & confirmed by Judge Group
  • Basic contest rules will follow that of the HWbot’s and FutureMark’s Standard Competition Rules
  • No special features like OC button/External OC panel are allowed. Any changes of CPU frequency during benchmarking are prohibited, except CB / CBB /Slow Mode / LN2 Mode dip switches (Geekbench3-Multi Core). Asus OC Panel is allowed as thermometer and functions related to LN2/Slow Mode/Safe Mode are ok except Pause Mode if any; no application for ROG Connect will be installed.
  • Latest version of 3DMark & SystemInfo will be used
  • System Hardware Monitoring must be enabled for all 3D benchmarks
  • Motherboard bios must be freshly installed with no pre-set profiles. Bios must be officially found online and available to public. No special bios is allowed. Judges will check before contest begins.
  • Screenshot must be made with GOC wallpaper, GPUz, CPUz, Memory, SPD tabs
  • No personal USB flash drive, external hdd, smartphone and or personal notes are allowed, except approved by judge group
  • Call upon judges, Galax staff and or Contest helpers whenever contestants submitting a score to the contest. Make sure screenshot & saved 3D file are ready
  • Contestants are free to change X299 boards during contest. No limit on model/brand, but need to inform HWbot / Galax for preparing chipset drivers/tools, etc
  • Contestants are allowed to change "provided hardware" only one time in case of any irrecoverable damages which must be inspected and approved by Judge Group

Extra Cash Prizes: Total USD 3,000 max

  • Breaking Graphics Score Record for 3DMark Time Spy Extreme USD $1,000 (divided by the number of contestants achieving new record)
  • Breaking Graphics Score Record for 3DMark Time Spy USD $1,000 (divided by the number of contestants achieving new Record)
  • Breaking GPUPI 1B Global First Place USD $1,000 (divided by the number of contestants achieving new GFP)

Note: The Highest Graphics Score Records will be validated according to both HWBOT’s and FutureMark’s data base
