So.

1) Overclock AMD K6

2) Win Bulldozer

:D

November 2, 2011 at 8:55:44 AM UTC

what is k6? lol

November 2, 2011 at 9:14:24 AM UTC

last time in the k8-stage k9-cpus were allowed. whats about this time?

November 2, 2011 at 9:15:34 AM UTC

What do you mean ?

November 2, 2011 at 9:20:00 AM UTC

the dualcores like athlon x2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_K9

k8 is singelcore socket 754 and 939, isn´t it?

November 2, 2011 at 9:29:53 AM UTC

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/index.html

K9 was never used, iirc.

November 2, 2011 at 9:47:49 AM UTC

ah ok. german wikipedia makes a difference between k8 (=singel core) and k9 (=dual core)

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_K8

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_K9

good to know i needn´t try to oc my s754...^^

thx

btw: good idea to post the best results for the cpus at the competition side :)

November 2, 2011 at 9:36:19 PM UTC

I have a question... the prize will be sended to other countries like Argentina?

Thanks!!

November 2, 2011 at 10:30:19 PM UTC

So.

1) Overclock AMD K6

2) Win Bulldozer

:D

Will be very tough to beat Turricans record. The one who crack the 800Mhz mark probably deserves the price. :D

November 3, 2011 at 7:50:36 AM UTC

I have a question... the prize will be sended to other countries like Argentina?

Thanks!!

Yes.

November 10, 2011 at 7:18:49 AM UTC

Quick Questioin, For the 3DMark 01, Stage 5 i think it is, Is a Laptop GPU (mobile GPU) considered to be IGP? For example the GT 550M, HD6870M etc. Thanks

November 11, 2011 at 12:04:58 AM UTC

Are the Bulldozers considered part of Vision? or just the APU's?

November 11, 2011 at 2:12:29 PM UTC

i guess bulldozer makes sense, doesn´t it?

in the list of actual records is the bulldozer shown...

November 11, 2011 at 4:50:22 PM UTC

i guess bulldozer makes sense, doesn´t it?

in the list of actual records is the bulldozer shown...

I was only curious as the APU is the only one that has the Vision bus :D

November 19, 2011 at 6:26:02 PM UTC

OC forums is taking this comp. We are too strong for you!

November 19, 2011 at 11:06:52 PM UTC

lol

November 21, 2011 at 7:39:29 PM UTC

lol
Like that huh?

November 25, 2011 at 4:21:19 AM UTC

Opty you ever figure out how to validate your P5A board with a CPUz higher than version 152? I saw you had the same trouble I'm having saving/submitting a CPUz validation. I can do it only for version 152 or earlier. Problem being you can't submit validation files that old any longer.

Mods: Any suggestions on how I can submit using a P5A board if you cannot use CPUz because it doesn't save the file. I have a screen shot showing the valid is that enough?

November 25, 2011 at 10:18:21 AM UTC

I have the same problem as well with the GA-5AX so far with Pentium 1/MMX and Cyrix :(. Will check with AMD K6-2 soon

November 26, 2011 at 8:13:22 AM UTC

Rasparthe,

I gave up trying w/K6 for that very reason.

November 26, 2011 at 3:46:54 PM UTC

Validation links are an absolute requirement for this benchmark.

As Christian explained it to me, this seems to be a chipset-specific issue. I think Frank (developer of CPU-Z) should be able to fix this quite easily, so I suggested I'll contact him about this issue. But I fear the solution will not arrive before the end of this competition. Other Socket7 boards seem to work fine, though.

November 26, 2011 at 4:46:28 PM UTC

I contacted him almost 2 years ago Massman and he did not fix it. Just like the "invalid" K7 issue.

November 26, 2011 at 4:51:22 PM UTC

I have contacted him as well and no response. The forums look like a morgue. I see that others have just posted a link to another chip for the submission and used a screenshot. Also I do have a validation file....its just 152.

November 26, 2011 at 5:24:59 PM UTC

The scores in the competition are all v1.58 ?

November 26, 2011 at 8:58:45 PM UTC

No, I meant in other P5A subs, not necessarily in this competition. But looking back through the last 6 months I see that only one guy is responsible for all the CPUz validations for P5A.

November 28, 2011 at 3:12:50 AM UTC

I believe that the K6 category rules should be revised in some way to allow boards with the Ali5 chipset to compete as they are as we know by far the best for socket 7.

November 28, 2011 at 5:06:49 AM UTC

OCF! FTW!

November 28, 2011 at 11:24:46 AM UTC

Stupid P5A! LOL guess its not the Ali5 chip but the Asus board itself.

November 30, 2011 at 3:50:20 AM UTC

I detect sandbagging.

November 30, 2011 at 7:16:06 AM UTC

I'm busy with the CountryCup. My s.A result is the final one, no time for subzero and I'm tired as hell.

November 30, 2011 at 10:54:58 PM UTC

Impressive

Right back at you - nice scores!

November 30, 2011 at 11:02:01 PM UTC

Right back at you - nice scores!

Thanks man, I tried to do my best to lead 4 stages. As I don't have any competitive AMD K8.

Till yesterday I was still #1 in 3 stages :P

And now only one :D.

But I am happy anyway, The man that defeated 20 Teams :D in the overall ranking

November 30, 2011 at 11:03:54 PM UTC

Since when was staff allowed to compete?

November 30, 2011 at 11:13:01 PM UTC

Since when was staff allowed to compete?

Ehm, I believe this can be answered fairly simple;

Since hwbot was started.

November 30, 2011 at 11:14:42 PM UTC

Great job Christian Ney!

Single handedly schooled every team in the competition!

Just wanted to give a quick props on that... That took some work!

November 30, 2011 at 11:23:30 PM UTC

Good job on the win!

November 30, 2011 at 11:27:14 PM UTC

Not a single other member of the staff competed I assume from an ethics standpoint. I think it's bullshit and whoever doesn't like it can fuck off. HWBOT stafff should stay out of competitions period. I don't see Massman posting scores or Turrican...?

November 30, 2011 at 11:32:36 PM UTC

I don't quite like sandbagging but I don't think being staff really has anything to do with it. gen068.gif

Good job nonetheless. Hopefully we'll have an intel comp up in a day or two. :D

November 30, 2011 at 11:34:48 PM UTC

Good job nonetheless. Hopefully we'll have an intel comp up in a day or two. :D

^^^

This!

November 30, 2011 at 11:39:41 PM UTC

Fuck that. Again not a single member of the staff competes in these aside from CN again I would assume from an ethics standpoint. Yet CN is allowed to run rampant. I'll say again staff should be exempt from open competition.

November 30, 2011 at 11:40:21 PM UTC

Turrican already competed for HOC: just an exemple: http://hwbot.org/competition/hoc_sep11

Massman is lazy :D and has got too much work (I harrass him 24H/7)

Knopflerbruce is on his exams period and is working full time for the university at the moment.

I don't see why I can't compete?

I know the hardware/limitations the same day as all of you guys, only massman knows the competition hardware/limitations before the open day of HOC.

And yeah for your information, being part of HWBot's Staff give you extra/more MHz to your CPU, so if you want easy overclocking and WR and Huge Frequency, join the Staff ;)

November 30, 2011 at 11:40:50 PM UTC

AmericanNightmare: Whining is not competing. It's just whining. No reason for it bud. :) Man up and move on, or move out. Our team doesn't need a bitchfest, not what we're about.

Props again on the win!

Maybe you should look a bit further then..

Massman has been in several hwbot competitions, and really, can you please moderate your language a bit.

November 30, 2011 at 11:42:45 PM UTC

Very nice work Christian :P:)

Congrats to you n your team...

November 30, 2011 at 11:52:17 PM UTC

Holy hell Christian, that's some mighty nice work. I'm impressed!

The only reason I could see for HWBot staff not to compete is if they know the contest rules/specifics before it starts. Sounds like they don't, so I don't have a problem with it.

Of course, it looks suspicious, so I'm pretty sure he should have his account merged with someone elses :P

November 30, 2011 at 11:55:30 PM UTC

Congrats Ocaholics and CN on your win.:)

Fuck that. Again not a single member of the staff competes in these aside from CN again I would assume from an ethics standpoint. Yet CN is allowed to run rampant. I'll say again staff should be exempt from open competition.

Hahahahaha. Why is it that you think everybodys site is a democracy? Guess what, it isn't. Mine isn't and neither is this one. YOU have to play by the sites rules, regardless of if you like it or not. If you don't like it, there's an alternative..........just like what happened at my site. Aww that's right, you already know about that don't you.:P

November 30, 2011 at 11:59:30 PM UTC

I believe you can actually bribe Massman to tell you rules in advance!

I recall a picture from GOOC 2010 of him receiving bribe - and he was fairly cheap to pay off! :D :D :D

Jokes aside; Nah dont know how it does these days, but a year back, Massman was the mastermind of the competitions, he made the rules himself, and is fairly good at it - he is TERRIBLE at take critic, dont suggest anything could be done differently, I warn you.

December 1, 2011 at 12:00:56 AM UTC

I don't see what's unethic about competing if you're a member of the staff. The only problem would be if a score got questioned, but we don't have a habit of treating mods in a different way than a regular user. I can't see that being a moderator would be an advantage in any competition either. It's not like there is a thread for competition content most of the time. I think only massman knew about this one, for example.

December 1, 2011 at 12:01:31 AM UTC

The issue is HWBOT plays by whatever rules suit them @ the time and I am always chastised for taking a stand. If you don't fight for change nothing will change.

December 1, 2011 at 12:07:25 AM UTC

Yup, I usually keep all the competition stuff to myself. No one knew anything about the OC Challenge since, ehr, ever I think. Same goes for the Country Cups. Even Frederik usually doesn't know (unless he has to implement new code in the HCE). There's a distinct reason why I keep competition details a secret ... and this is exactly why. I don't want those who volunteer here at the bot and put time and effort into keeping this place clean to have to give up on exciting competitions as well. It's bad enough these people are voluntarily getting critic from the community, no need to punish them even more :P.

I do compete once in a while, but only because I'm still addicted to overclocking. I've never been in the position to refuse prizes (sigh), but I wouldn't take any of them anyway.

December 1, 2011 at 12:14:22 AM UTC

Funny that the most prolific powertoy cheater now feels he's the che guevara of hwbot

December 1, 2011 at 12:14:35 AM UTC

Funny thing is not so long ago Christian could barely afford a P3 board and now he's on the staff and has all this ware to sandbag everyone with. But nooooooo that does not look suspicious @ all....

December 1, 2011 at 12:15:23 AM UTC

Part 1 blahblah

I do compete once in a while, but only because I'm still addicted to overclocking. I've never been in the position to refuse prizes (sigh), but I wouldn't take any of them anyway.

Or as a guy from Finland would say "Massman sucks"

I best sleep before I get banned ;)

December 1, 2011 at 12:17:08 AM UTC

Had a great time in the K8 runs. Awesome job to OCF and Team17 for pushing and pushing.

Although the comp ended at 5pm here, I'd like to ask why it didn't end at midnight. It was just after 5pm and I was in a car driving home. Kinda makes it hard to over clock.... Lol.

Excellent Competition. Big thumbs up over here!!

December 1, 2011 at 12:17:47 AM UTC

No one ever proved I used powertoy to this day El Crappo. Keep your embarrassment about being pwned by me in PCmark out of this thread.

December 1, 2011 at 12:20:24 AM UTC

Funny thing is not so long ago Christian could barely afford a P3 board and now he's on the staff and has all this ware to sandbag everyone with. But nooooooo that does not look suspicious @ all....

You are skating on thin ice.... Please grab a chilled beer, and think things through before making one more of such posts.

December 1, 2011 at 12:22:49 AM UTC

I suspect that Christian is the reason that P5A won't validate on CPUz just so he could steal the win from OCN. :)

Nice scores! Congrats on the win, well done.

Nice. :D

No one ever proved I used powertoy to this day El Crappo.

Did your ex-team captain know?:P

December 1, 2011 at 12:28:33 AM UTC

No one ever proved I used powertoy to this day El Crappo. Keep your embarrassment about being pwned by me in PCmark out of this thread.

Lol.

Opty....

I told you I wouldn't be the one crying HAHAHA! Suka.

December 1, 2011 at 12:30:54 AM UTC

I suspect that Christian is the reason that P5A won't validate on CPUz just so he could steal the win from OCF. :)

I knew it! Treachery!

Isn't powertoy legal now anyway?

December 1, 2011 at 12:34:28 AM UTC

I knew it! Treachery!

Isn't powertoy legal now anyway?

Enough of the now talk, we are dragging up old issues :D

December 1, 2011 at 12:38:52 AM UTC

Oh, Opty crying like a baby again...wonder why I'm not surprised at all.

If you're so damn good why you're lagging behind in K7 stage?

December 1, 2011 at 12:40:05 AM UTC

Oh, Opty crying like a baby again...wonder why I'm not surprised at all.

K7?

How about K anything?

December 1, 2011 at 12:41:32 AM UTC

It's bad enough these people are voluntarily getting critic from the community, no need to punish them even more :P

I hope my moderators aren't reading this... I give them extra punishment every chance I get. :D

If you are consistent with your mistreatment, they begin to think that is the way its supposed to be! :D

December 1, 2011 at 12:42:23 AM UTC

Good work Christian! Wish I had free time to push everything properly.

It was the perfect competition for me, kinda sorry I didn't reach the limits of my hardware.

K7?

How about K anything?

True :)

I don't see any reason staff can't participate. I'm ok with Massman competing, even will be glad to see him benching...cause it's even better when I beat him :D

Don't know about you, but I'm here mostly for fun.

December 1, 2011 at 12:43:31 AM UTC

The mods and admins have every right to bench and have a good time. Shouldn't even be questioned IMO.

December 1, 2011 at 12:49:00 AM UTC

K7?

How about K anything?

Never sold part and later wished you hadn't?

I know I have.

December 1, 2011 at 12:49:27 AM UTC

Congrats to OCaholics on the win, cut it pretty close to the end!

December 1, 2011 at 12:51:06 AM UTC

Never sold part and later wished you hadn't?

I know I have.

That's also true. I've done that as well. But it's not a valid reason for whinning.

December 1, 2011 at 12:51:34 AM UTC

Never sold part and later wished you hadn't?

I know I have.

Oh he sold parts alright........we just never received them.:P

Anything you'd like to get off your chest Austin? Maybe your new team would like to know what they're dealing with.

December 1, 2011 at 1:02:40 AM UTC

If you are consistent with your mistreatment, they begin to think that is the way its supposed to be! :D

... be inconsistent with your mistreatment and they figure you're so mental it's better for them to just agree with what you say

:o

:P

December 1, 2011 at 1:06:04 AM UTC

Your crazy man. Not sure why people envy you though.

December 1, 2011 at 1:08:28 AM UTC

On a lighter note. Christian did kind of warn us about this. See post #16.

I can't help but picture him; sitting at his home looking at us "lemmings" struggle against each other for the past couple weeks... It must have been quite entertaining to him to see OCF and OCN trade blows all this time; all the while, he knew he had this in the bag and we were basically fighting for second place. :D

December 1, 2011 at 1:13:58 AM UTC

Overclockers.com has arguably the safest and most difficult to access classified trading section on the internet. I'm comfortable worrying about that without your help. Thanks though.

I wasn't offering any of my help, just a chance for him to come clean, about everything, if he desired is all.;)

December 1, 2011 at 1:27:01 AM UTC

Y'all spend an awful lot of time and energy baiting Mr. Trooper.

December 1, 2011 at 1:28:57 AM UTC

Baiting???..........lol

If you say so.

December 1, 2011 at 5:02:09 AM UTC

Please note OptyTrooper/AmericanNightmare's behavior this evening is not reflective of OCF's benching team or befitting its members. That should have been kind-of obvious by the responses from other members, but in case it was in question, that is not how we conduct ourselves. He is no longer part of our team.

Crazy insane job single-handedly taking the competition Christian Ney!

December 1, 2011 at 6:20:30 AM UTC

Good job everyone :D. This comp finally gave me the push to actually get into LN2.

December 1, 2011 at 6:49:29 AM UTC

I am surprised! CN leading the way....

wtf!

congrats!

ocn bulldozin it! congrats too.

December 1, 2011 at 9:06:33 AM UTC

A couple of nice scores there!

I'll figure out how to do a proper Lucky Draw (and video tape it) between the winners of the stages: Christian Ney, Mare87, Attix, FtW and I.M.O.G. I'm hoping AMD will ship out the CPU asap then ... :)

December 1, 2011 at 10:52:13 AM UTC

The video tape is a really nice idea :)

December 1, 2011 at 11:40:29 AM UTC

screenshot of www.randomized.com is the easiest but a video of the proceedings would work as well.

December 1, 2011 at 12:30:00 PM UTC

Even if nitemare was 100% right, the way things are explained is at an ultimate low. Ever wondered why not many people take you serious ? And see you as an *rr*g¨*nt pr*ck... but you prolly don't care... Good luck in your new team, I hope they can tame you some how...

Lighten up this is a hobby, even if it costs a lot of money, it's for fun ! And scores still have to be done with available hardware... Hwbot staff or not, you still have to bench !

Congratz to the participants and for sure the winners too !

December 1, 2011 at 11:40:19 PM UTC

FWIW, Classicplatforms never thought for a second that all of OCF's team was like Opty. We knew how he was. Just wanted to let you guys know that there's no bad blood between our teams. Any one of you guys can always contact one of us if there's a problem with something. There is plenty of room in the community for peaceful coexistence for all.:)

December 1, 2011 at 11:44:56 PM UTC

Well... I am lead to believe that Christian Ney is in fact the son of Massman... Unfortunately I have no clue who the dad is!

December 2, 2011 at 1:51:27 PM UTC

Although the comp ended at 5pm here, I'd like to ask why it didn't end at midnight. It was just after 5pm and I was in a car driving home. Kinda makes it hard to over clock.... Lol.

:D

It did end at midnight. Midnight GMT+1.

December 2, 2011 at 4:51:07 PM UTC

I'd like to apologize to Christian, The HWBOT community, OCF and staff for my behavior in this thread. There was and is not excuse for it. In the future I will endeavor to keep my temper in check.

Sincerely, OptyTrooper

December 4, 2011 at 9:45:32 AM UTC

Just a heads up for the winners.

I'm trying to get in touch with the person who reserved the FX chip in the German AMD office. Last week, she was on sick leave so I hope to get an update next week!

December 4, 2011 at 2:42:41 PM UTC

Lucky draw already known ?

@ Opty, apology accepted

December 5, 2011 at 7:43:50 PM UTC

I haven't heard anything yet Christian. Guessing massman is waiting to confirm the prize before notifying a winner.

Still no response from AMD's end. Heard local store here is getting some FX-8150 on stock, I'll just buy one and use that as prize :)

Another update.

Tones (the shop I was going to buy the sample from) was supposed to receive a drop shipment of FX-8150 chips. The total amount of chips dropped was 1 ... hopefully there will be some in the next couple of days.
