Good luck all!

October 3, 2013 at 8:36:52 AM UTC

Excuse me, but how is hwbot going to enforce the rule where everyone has to use Kingston memory?

As far as I know, they never made any retail HyperX using single-sided MFR or PSC, which are the top choices for stages #1 and #2.

October 3, 2013 at 8:46:39 AM UTC

But they made values with psc, hyperx with bbse and 2333 t1 that clock like good psc. And afaik, you will also find MFR on Kingstom memory like 2800c12 and 2133s and so on

Also, engineers will check if the claimed result is within expectations.

What ic´s have the kingston hyperX 2333MHz cl9?

Kingston engineers my ass, for reasons mentioned by websmile above.

- in a proper system, memory will be on LN2 so system picture won't tell anything

- memory picture doesn't actually say that Kingston memory was in use

- SPD can be reflashed

Cheating memory brand is very simple, do you really think noone will do it with $10k on the line?

October 3, 2013 at 4:25:31 PM UTC

I will cheat!

October 3, 2013 at 4:30:12 PM UTC

this calls for the ban hammer lmao - no, you won´t, you are simply to honest for this :P

October 3, 2013 at 5:22:23 PM UTC

I just locally bought a s775 DDR3 board for SPD flashing, I won't cheat as well.

October 4, 2013 at 1:05:01 PM UTC

Hmm, Cooler Master power supply needed? Why? Why? Why? Ok, im out of this! =[

October 4, 2013 at 3:36:12 PM UTC

Hmm, Cooler Master power supply needed?

I know the CM is sponsor and so on, but this limitation is really not cool :( :(

October 4, 2013 at 4:05:13 PM UTC

Yeah I get it, but this limitation could be on final stage on CES, not for qualifiing. But I'm respecting all rules and dismiss this competition. Anyway, good luck guys!

October 5, 2013 at 2:03:25 PM UTC

this sucks menn...really lame so many restrictions

October 6, 2013 at 3:10:37 PM UTC

October 7, 2013 at 10:09:27 PM UTC

We should be glad that there is another live event ;)

In my opinion it's 100% fair when companies sponsor OC contest, they have full right to give restrictions to their products to , of course when there are no restrictions - it's more interesting, but be honest, for 2D you don't need 1500W PSU, 600-700W Coolermaster should be more than okay ;) and cost of it is very low comparing to other parts and you don't need to bin PSU ;) In this contest you shouldn't worry about PSU but about CPU/MEMORY ;)

October 7, 2013 at 10:25:07 PM UTC

I bought a 500w for $35 :)

October 8, 2013 at 1:00:28 AM UTC

The PSU rule looks like an even bigger joke.

Yes, they have the rights to demand it (it's their marketing money and so on) but in which way were they planning to impose any verification other than pic of the rig, which might not even have been running?

October 8, 2013 at 1:37:35 AM UTC

Guess we can only trust each other will be honorable

October 8, 2013 at 2:44:05 AM UTC

I guess you binned some 2400C11 Hynix CFR sticks, because I'm nowhere near that with some random stick :D

October 9, 2013 at 7:42:23 PM UTC

So how does this comp work?

Top 5 in each category or with combined scores from each category?

Love the pic splaver... ;)

October 9, 2013 at 8:00:37 PM UTC

Yes travel and hotel is covered.

It's the top 5 overall that is picked for the final (so 5 ocers total).

October 9, 2013 at 8:23:12 PM UTC

So combined score? From each category is counted for top 5?

Sorry for the questions, just want to be clear ;)

October 9, 2013 at 8:51:12 PM UTC

Most points combined top 5 broski

Possible 75 points total if you sweep each stage

October 9, 2013 at 9:10:07 PM UTC

October 10, 2013 at 7:29:17 AM UTC

wooow splave insane!!!

@Massman or marmott,

how does hardware sharing work? can we share all except CPU?

EDIT: I see memory cant be shared, can we share separate sticks if we show images? from a 4x4gb set?

Cool

October 10, 2013 at 1:50:38 PM UTC

CFR 2v+ :) cooooold

Workouts are great bro. Its my diet that needed help haha!

I know a couple people have 2400c11 with single sided mfr not sure if it was just the review samples that have this or some retails as well. Just wanted to make sure.

Mmmh went through all our 2400 modules and can't see any 4GB (so single sided) modules with MFR.

If you have a picture of the modules I would be interested.

October 10, 2013 at 3:33:56 PM UTC

I can confirm that all retail 4GB 2400C11 I documented are double sided... so no MFR :)

I will say that even if this exists should be banned from this competition because they are much to rare...

October 10, 2013 at 3:39:12 PM UTC

Nick has a set and so does hassan :)

October 10, 2013 at 4:09:31 PM UTC

If these sticks have never been retail is this allowed?? Similar to ES CPU which is not allowed in these contests??

October 10, 2013 at 6:25:44 PM UTC

I would hope not....makes it a pointless contest.

October 10, 2013 at 6:30:36 PM UTC

Shouldn't everything be retail only?

I can see pro clocking, but not contests..

October 10, 2013 at 6:51:03 PM UTC

I got 2 kits, The KHX24C11T1K2/8X (HyperX T1 2400C11 2x4GB), and KHX24C11T2K2/8X(HyperX Predator 2400C11 2x4GB), and both were dual-sided CFR

I heard the Predator 8GB 2666C11 is a single-sided CFR, so I searched for that one but no luck so far :(

October 10, 2013 at 6:58:42 PM UTC

from what I've seen so far, 2666C11 should be dual-sided Samsung D-rev

October 10, 2013 at 9:02:01 PM UTC

^Sam is right, the 2666 c11 is Samsung for sure, should have a set early next week, will post a pic.

Lucky noob cfr single side is 2gb sticks

I see, will look into it asap, thx mate ;)

October 11, 2013 at 1:43:02 AM UTC

Memory we used on last MOA final was single sided hynix, if you have that one try it....

October 11, 2013 at 8:21:00 AM UTC

Nick has a set and so does hassan :)

I don't think they bought it from the store :)

October 11, 2013 at 11:08:05 AM UTC

So guys can the MFR reviewers have be used???

October 11, 2013 at 11:22:54 AM UTC

So guys can the MFR reviewers have be used???

Nope!

Also, the latest question is can double sided be reworked?

October 11, 2013 at 6:16:55 PM UTC

cant submit memory score no matter what i do :(

October 13, 2013 at 1:15:57 PM UTC

What is the error ?

October 13, 2013 at 4:40:59 PM UTC

Doesn't show the memory product list or power supply product list.

so, I can't submit the result for this competition. Please fix it.

October 13, 2013 at 4:55:54 PM UTC

How do you mean? The product is not included in the list? What products are you using specifically?

October 13, 2013 at 6:09:40 PM UTC

Just ban them Massman:p

October 13, 2013 at 7:02:14 PM UTC

I just get the oops something went wrong and how your coding skills suck error message... lol

no matter what i do for mem clock.. really irritating me :(

October 13, 2013 at 11:28:02 PM UTC

make sure your rig pic is under the MB limit maybe? idk

October 14, 2013 at 12:02:16 AM UTC

i mean that i did type the first name of memory product!

then in the empty space the product list does't show anthing!

so, i can't fill out the specification of memory's name!

for example, if i did type the string of 'k', kingston or kingmax should be show!

but now it doesn't show anything!

October 14, 2013 at 12:14:23 AM UTC

Ah, I see what you mean.

It is working here now, still an issue for you ?

October 14, 2013 at 12:37:01 AM UTC

Peiter, i still can't submit myscore.

October 14, 2013 at 1:38:22 AM UTC

massman, the problem is fixed.

GJ.

October 14, 2013 at 6:17:11 AM UTC

Peiter, i still can't submit myscore.

only submit 1 picture of your rig, then add the others by editing,i got the same error too, when using multiple larger images.

btw, where is this mfr coming from, cause i\m sure as hell that double sided cfr won\t do this?

http://hwbot.org/submission/2437885

http://hwbot.org/submission/2437846

since all kingston's lineup in europe(i called over 20 shops) and usa are using cfr,how are we supposed to compete with mfr guys?

October 14, 2013 at 6:44:29 AM UTC

Alex, DFORDAWG's ram should be Samsung based (not sure if HCH9 or HYK0) and I will verify once my kit arrives but not sure what exact kit Hero is using.

October 14, 2013 at 6:47:49 AM UTC

Alex, DFORDAWG's ram should be Samsung based (not sure if HCH9 or HYK0) and I will verify once my kit arrives but not sure what exact kit Hero is using.

hey george, yes it should be samsung as all 2666 predator we know of are samsung, however looking at smd arrangement it is clearly single-sided hynix mfr.also,it is very hard if not impossible for samsungs to reach 3300+ for valid.looking for a clear answer on this,i mean if some region can buy retail kingston mfr and other ones can't how can we all have equal chanches?

October 14, 2013 at 7:23:35 AM UTC

splave did 1970 validate on Single sided kingston CFR. so their scores are very believable

October 14, 2013 at 7:51:47 AM UTC

Samsung don't scale with cold, so if their scores are real then they will not get more than 3500MHz even if on cold :)

October 14, 2013 at 7:56:39 AM UTC

splave did 1970 validate on Single sided kingston CFR. so their scores are very believable

oh,for mfr they are very real :D for samsung or hynix cfr not quite...

so dfordog is clearly mfr due to validation and picture:

1038878.jpg

This is regular samsung kit we find in retail, again look at smd-s upside contacts:

161001.jpg

October 14, 2013 at 8:02:02 AM UTC

Both scores have been removed from the competition because the kits (with MFR) are not retail. This has been confirmed by Kingston.

October 14, 2013 at 8:03:54 AM UTC

These are MFR based you are right but not retail yet so no reason to allow them.

October 14, 2013 at 8:06:35 AM UTC

thanks for clarification :)

October 14, 2013 at 3:21:26 PM UTC

Actually, you don't even need to look at the cap arrangement to verify if these are SS or not.

Vertical code - symbols 4 to 6 indicate number and manufacturer of ICs used.

http://img.hwbot.org/u31047/image_id_1038878.jpeg

H = Hynix, 08 = eight ICs, single-sided

http://content.hwigroup.net/images/products/xl/161001.jpg

S = Samsung, 16 = sixteen ICs, dual-sided

October 14, 2013 at 9:35:47 PM UTC

Was going to ask if Kingston's PDFs were accurate on wether they were single side or not in general....seems not PDF shows single sided when clearly they are dual.

http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX26C11T2K2_8X.pdf

Thanks Sam!

October 15, 2013 at 3:17:04 AM UTC

Teach me to not pay attention. Should be a good comp and good luck all. I'll likely we watching from the sidelines "again". :)

hehe thanks :)

October 16, 2013 at 8:08:09 PM UTC

OK OK as always i am here for sharing :D

if u bench M6I, u need first slot always warm ( 10 degrees ) put a probe there and it should be full of vaseline, 00 error its or Cpu IMC cbb or wet slots..

when u get 00 or 55 code, warm ONLY first slot ( empty one) and the stick (second slot) will warm automatically, when stick is -70/-80 and empty slot is 10 degrees, you boot , go -120 or lower very fast ( use alu pot and alu HS) on the stick, keep cpu at -90 and SHOT

M6I users use only C13 and RTL 64

Bclk ignor

boot example 130

Load OS set 132.5

Reboot

Load OS without going back into Bios, Set 134.5

reboot

find your max

130 Bclk is an example... that can be 135 then 137.5 then 139.5

Thanks hiwa !!! :)

Any difference from 37?

October 18, 2013 at 6:47:07 PM UTC

I guess the rule to disallow MFR-based 2666C11 was made on the basis that some resellers still have some Samsung-based kits in stock so there's no way for people in some regions to obtain the prior.

October 18, 2013 at 7:02:56 PM UTC

so if it was samsung it would be allowed?

October 18, 2013 at 7:53:40 PM UTC

DDR3-2666 MFR based HyperX memory modules are not allowed as they are not commercially available products. In the case DDR3-2666 MFR based HyperX memory modules become commercially available during the course of the competition, they would still not be allowed to avoid any unfair advantage.
Doesn't say anything about Samsung-based sticks, so I guess those are allowed.

2666C11 is no easy spec for MFR. May be your HyperX fail it and you can get your money back from RMA :D

October 19, 2013 at 9:27:35 AM UTC

for example in romania and germany after asking 20+ shops, they all have samsung based 2666C11,so the rules are fair enough :)

October 19, 2013 at 4:14:55 PM UTC

Not mad I cant use MFR, I was hoping it was samsung :) my CFR is better for mhz anyways I think.

Marmott can you exchange this for me for samsung after comp! :D :D Plllllease

October 19, 2013 at 4:31:47 PM UTC

How is it fair when you can't he get Samsung in the states? 2666 cl 11? Royally confused..

October 19, 2013 at 4:35:31 PM UTC

Lol, I guess it is available.. How do we confirm if it's Samsung or mfr

October 19, 2013 at 5:04:57 PM UTC

Lol, I guess it is available.. How do we confirm if it's Samsung or mfr

Seems the old stock was Samsung, the new stock is MFR.

Only way to tell is the vertical sticker with say H08 for MFR and S16 for samsung.

October 19, 2013 at 9:22:15 PM UTC

So we can't order specific with the only place that has stock :(

October 19, 2013 at 10:42:28 PM UTC

You will most likely not find the Samsung based kit in stock anymore: they were release about a year ago.

All the 2666 C11 in stock now will very certainly be MFR.

The 2666 MFR kits should be available worldwide but because it launched so recently (Splave you really must have one of the first retail one) ocers from other region may not find them in stock before the end of the contest.

It's tough to try to keep it fair for everyone! :)

October 20, 2013 at 12:13:09 AM UTC

I get it :) its all good.

October 21, 2013 at 6:07:24 PM UTC

Dam posted incorrect screen shot. Took two when benching. Fixed the submission. Now its saying its been deleted. I will post it again.

October 22, 2013 at 9:28:42 AM UTC

Send the image to pieter@hwbot.org. I will fix the existing submission (so it falls within the competition week2 time).

October 22, 2013 at 9:29:48 AM UTC

That should be the correct one:

October 22, 2013 at 9:38:28 AM UTC

I posted again mate.

October 22, 2013 at 9:51:05 AM UTC

Mailed you to fix original submission Massman.

October 22, 2013 at 10:05:15 AM UTC

So after all the 2666c11 with MFR are allowed or not because I didn't catch it? :)

October 22, 2013 at 10:27:39 AM UTC

I dont think so Splave was discussing it.

October 22, 2013 at 11:22:23 AM UTC

I think the rules are pretty clear:

Concerning Prohibition of Specific Memory SKUs

DDR3-2544, DDR3-2800 and DDR3-2666 MFR based HyperX memory modules are not allowed as they are not commercially available products. In the case DDR3-2666 MFR based HyperX memory modules become commercially available during the course of the competition, they would still not be allowed to avoid any unfair advantage.

October 22, 2013 at 1:15:59 PM UTC

Is this mfr allowed?

AkRVZPU.jpg

October 22, 2013 at 1:23:09 PM UTC

Yeah looking into that...

October 22, 2013 at 2:09:30 PM UTC

Which ones are those Allan??

October 22, 2013 at 2:12:25 PM UTC

These are KVR16N11S8/4 so 1600MHz C11 1.5V 4GB modules with Hynix MFR on.

October 22, 2013 at 3:02:09 PM UTC

I guess the only basis on which MFR valuerams would be allowed is them having a decent enough availability for a long enough period of time, otherwise we're in the same situation as with MFR 2666C11.

October 23, 2013 at 12:58:45 AM UTC

Mailed you to fix original submission Massman.

Thanks, all fixed!

October 23, 2013 at 2:40:42 PM UTC

Dont want to be a party pooper! But alot of results arent following the strict photo rules. I think alot of it is language barrier because there is alot to read. Maybe we must tell them before they are upset when their hard worked on score gets removed

Hey all,

Just to give a quick update on the Hynix MFR situation. Kingston and HWBOT just finished a conference call to discuss this problem, and the decision is to not allow any Hynix MFR for this competition. The goal of this competition is to make things fair for all participants. An official rule amendment will follow later this/next week. This is just a heads-up to prevent anyone from wasting time on MFR.

October 24, 2013 at 11:26:35 AM UTC

Already wasted.

October 24, 2013 at 12:36:55 PM UTC

October 27, 2013 at 9:53:05 PM UTC

Oh noes my 2400 c11 is BFR not CFR :<. Worth a shot?

October 27, 2013 at 10:26:40 PM UTC

May be you can still hit 1900+ suicide like Christian Ney once did with his 2400C9 RipjawsZ (though his BFR were much better binned).

October 28, 2013 at 1:28:21 AM UTC

I have some top BFR. The ones I used with Fred at Computex to Take 32m WR. 3000+ C8.

Hey massman, this weekend we have daylight savings time and we fall back 1 hour. I assume that the contest will just finish at 4PM instead of 3PM for us in america?

November 2, 2013 at 2:26:24 AM UTC

Small tip that may help you guys clocking CFR :)

Played alot with SPD's on z77 and haswell trying to understand why certain stick were faster than others at the same exact memory timings set in bios so I learned a couple things.

Here is one that should help you gain a couple mhz, dont know how it works or why but through trial and error :) On kingston CFR set to 54 I believe on default, on Avexir MFR and Double Sided CFR its set to 253. On PSC sticks that were set to a higher value would run higher frequency but were slower. Worth a shot if you have an SPDtool working platform.

hey mass! what is the dominating bench incase of draws?

edit: found it

In case of a ranking tie the highest memory clock wins, then the best SuperPi 32M score.

November 4, 2013 at 12:46:04 PM UTC

your math will give "not exact in round due to sand-bagging" :)

got 25l in the car for XTU round :P.

moa made it unable to bench for the competition

November 4, 2013 at 1:11:34 PM UTC

good luck vivi, just prepare the burrial cake for the cpu after u finish XTU :D

November 4, 2013 at 1:22:25 PM UTC

So far my XTU cpu is alive, but when XTU crashes OS (win 8.1 PRO) and bios in M6E (0038) die :o

Bios stops to see VGA, reflashing fixes the problem, OS can't be repaired. I am sure it's some bug of UEFI integration in bios

November 4, 2013 at 5:36:32 PM UTC

cool to see the fight go on till the end !!

November 4, 2013 at 6:27:41 PM UTC

Okay I am done, only have to upload photos of m6e. No dead cpus this time, so I can consider to be lucky, both my best CPU (SPI32M one) and my "backup" CPU for XTU (6.964 GHz CPU-Z, 6.3 GHz 3DMark06 CPU Tests HT on) are alive :D

November 4, 2013 at 7:08:13 PM UTC

closest most stressfull benching i have ever done, at 25min before finish i opened a new costa rica and just threw pots on without insulation and prayed that it can do good mhz,. i just pulled temps down and loaded a profile and it worked.. cant beleive it

November 4, 2013 at 7:34:05 PM UTC

Game finish,I just want to say that XTU is an CPU killer~~

November 4, 2013 at 8:07:39 PM UTC

Great scores all, congratz to the big five that made it to the finals !! Nice event Kingston and HWbot !!

November 4, 2013 at 8:14:21 PM UTC

Asus products are truly killer, lost a 6.5 32M cpu on the baby impact and two 4770K's on the M6E:D

Regardless everything seemed to work out minus the 32M, that was a one touch wonder and it was gone, cpu now hangs on 79 in two different boards. Will retry in a few different vendor's boards and see if she comes back lol.

Great competition, really some of the most fun I have had in a while even though sourcing some of these ram kits was almost impossible. The 2666 Samsung kit I got was so much fail, so glad Billy-The-Kid came through with some awesome BDBG so save the day.

November 4, 2013 at 8:17:22 PM UTC

Did you use "fully manual mode" for voltage control?

I´m happy to know the mem´s help you to get the ticket! :)

November 4, 2013 at 8:54:24 PM UTC

I just wish I could have figured out my issue withe Asus boards... i cb anywhere from -100 to -115.. the last couple of days it was at -100.. tried sham my profiles and everything from iod to system agent voltages.. to enabling video. Nothing helps.. then if I go to the formula, the cb is at -133.. wtf... would have likely had a chance then.. fml.. congrats guys :) maybe next time.

November 4, 2013 at 8:56:13 PM UTC

Epic battle! Enjoyed following the scores.

Congrats to the winners!

With the next comp it would be nice if they limit it to mem you can actually get.. i had to work with beasts which were ok.. but nothing compared to the others.. that made it tough.. amd this damn cb.. was even at -70 one time... wtf... what were you guys at for benching?

November 4, 2013 at 9:04:42 PM UTC

Excellent benching guys - top notch competition!

Every bit of ram was purchased or borrowed from a teammate and in the end I ended up using the BDBG kit which showed up just in time from Portugal, it's all logistics bro :)

I was benching 32M @ -117cb on the Venom (very tricky btw) and XTU at -115c for reference.

Madness till the end, great job all around :)

November 4, 2013 at 11:17:12 PM UTC

No issues at all.. just would have been nice to source memory. . Most if not all memory that won the comp is unavailable to buy.

it is what it is. I had mfr coming which should have been decent for this, but can celled them when I heard about the rules which made it even harder. . Next time I think they should take that into account. The comp was fun, just cold bug issues plagued me.. Each time I would bench it would be different.. i mount and probe the same spots every time. I put probes on chip and in pot. Makes no sense to me of what it could be.. i spent more time testing for cb then benching and with no real conclusion. It really kills me when I pop the same exact chip in the formula and then I can bench at -133. Iod was only at 1.1 .. I'm really stumped. I tried different chips also and they would do it also. Even tried multiple boards. One time my impact cold bugged at -70 with 2 separate chips.. i really have to wonder if the chip set is causing the problem.. i had 1 impact fail and 1 m6e fail. That first impact let me bench at -115 then the second one did -70 then magically went to 100. I was benching -110 on the M6E then it would never go lower then -100.. i just wish I could figure this out.. my 32m run was stuck at around -110 and then raised to -100 by mid bench.. anyways congrats to all who made it.. will be fun to watch what happens in vegas :) are the anymore contests going to be going on in vegas at the sametime? I might want to fly out to have some fun. :)

ViVi and I discuessed this as well, rando CB -20c less than normal sometimes. Strange

November 5, 2013 at 12:12:09 AM UTC

Very strange.. has to be specific boards and where the chip sets are located.. If you look at the formula it has different placement.. Only thing I can think of.. was still fun and learned alot... that's what it's all about for me :)

November 5, 2013 at 12:18:44 AM UTC

Oh yeah.. the Venom is an interesting pot.. my preference is the f1ee for now.. waiting for my dark to come..

November 5, 2013 at 2:30:13 AM UTC

IMHO F1 EE is the best pot for Haswell, I prefer it from Dark, more easy to control CB, also EK pot is good too

November 5, 2013 at 4:21:35 AM UTC

Really? You would think the more mass would help.. interesting..

November 5, 2013 at 4:32:00 AM UTC

hmmm only benched the Venom and OG Inflection this go around, but I would sure love a F1 Dark :D

November 5, 2013 at 5:34:03 AM UTC

Inflection point is a little small for me.. i like using the fatty.. :)

November 5, 2013 at 5:34:27 AM UTC

I do like the module holders though :)

Congrats to all!!

I dont want to be robocop but #6 on memory frequency posted a picture (without serial label) of hyper X anniversary stick which only comes in 4gb capacities. And the CPU-Z file is a 2gb stick. i know cause i also bought some anniversary sticks. sorry if im making bunnyextraction :<

EDIT: ok i see there is another naked dimm in the other slot. that might be the 2048 stick he made the score with. probly Langauge barrier making picture rules hard to understand

Will guys that failed to post proper pictures (IE no pic of mem label or unreadable mem label) have a chance to reconcile it or will they just be denied?

OMG do we need latest CPUz 1.67? If so my XTU is not valid :P used 1.66.1

stupid me xD XD

CPU-Z 1.67 launched on the 12th of October so after the start of the contest.

I would say it's not a problem.

In addition the score is validated on HWBOT, the purpose of the screenshot is to make sure Kingston/HyperX memory is used and the score as been done for this contest.

Congrats to everyone!

It was an epic battle!

I hope the HOT contest can get bigger and bigger over time. Global live contests really motivates us to keep pushing it.

Congratulations to everyone!

Congratulations Everyone!

Even after killing 2 of my best CPU, a Maximus VI Extreme and one Impact, I couldn't put up good scores to qualify :P :p. This was one of the toughest 2D challenge I've seen in this year, really CRAZY scores, with many gem CPU deaths (especially in XTU x_x). I say that those 5 overclockers on top really deserves to be in the Final. Vegas, baby! :D

Looking forward to see the livestream on the finals ;)
