My XTU score is not showing a Temp, won't let me enter one, and It will not let me submit.

June 19, 2015 at 12:30:08 PM UTC

Which XTU version are you using? The latest version should always show a temperature.

only 5 points for first place xtu?

June 20, 2015 at 12:39:06 PM UTC

Hi there's a problem with stage 1 xtu .

Only 5 points for first place and score isn t divided by number of cores like stated in the rules .

June 20, 2015 at 7:46:27 PM UTC

is it allowed to disable cores/threads and use 47xxk in stage 3 ?

Thx

@ massman, http://hwbot.org/submission/2898378_

That is the submission i was going to use but as you can see on the HWBOT submission, my temperature was never recorded. Just curious if you know why or how i may be able to fix it. I havent had a chance to participate yet hopefully i will soon, and i will get that version info to you.

June 21, 2015 at 9:49:41 AM UTC

I get this error. How do I fix it?

Thank you,

And XTU

June 21, 2015 at 2:20:06 PM UTC

@george.kokovinis Hey I just had the same problem, If you type in your Processor information manually, The box expands and there is a spot for you to type your Temps.

June 21, 2015 at 9:25:40 PM UTC

In both Stage 2 and Stage 3 the temperature is not recorded. Not sure exactly where you mean you type it in. I manually type my CPU in the submission page that opens up, no spot to put the temperature.

June 21, 2015 at 9:27:12 PM UTC

Actually it doesn't allow me to type in processor type, filled out automatically, just clock speed etc.

June 21, 2015 at 9:29:55 PM UTC

Wait, I figured it out. You are right. :D

In Stage 2 it won't let me type in processor type and temperatures etc. It's filled out automatically with no option for the temps. :(

Hi there's a problem with stage 1 xtu .

- the points, that is correct.

- fixed the "divided by cores" problem

KedarWolf

Hi KedarWolf,

- for XTU: the application will detect the temperature by itself and everything should work automatically

- for GPUPI: if you submit from the application, load the submission and then click 'edit' in the sidebar. Then fill out the load temperature in the Processor section.

- for other benchmarks: when submitting the result fill out the load temperature section.

Hm ... I suspect you might want to run the latest version to fix the temperature issue.

I have a stupid question -- how do I force GPUPI to use only 2 cores? Sorry, I'm such a rookie, but I'm baffled. lol

For Stage 3, the score will always be divided by the default amount of cores.

You can disable cores from the BIOS. Which motherboard do you have?

June 22, 2015 at 8:40:52 AM UTC

Pure mathematics. Read on...

The competition should be only for four core processors ( 4770K - 4790K ).

Since stage 2 and 3 results are divided per core, please make a simple calculation ( especially for stage 3 ).

In order to achieve in stage 3 a score with a 5960X, comparable with a 4790K, you have to run the 5960X over 6ghz.

Can this be done ?

NO. Not even with LN2.

Can you run a 4790K at 5100 with a good water setup ?

EASY.

Who wins in stage 3 ?

4790K.

Case closed.

Stage 2.

Divided per core CPUPI 1B. Cool.

Try to run a 4790K at 5ghz and a 5960X at 5ghz with 2 threads.

Case closed also.

Please rename the competition to " ....for four core processors ONLY "

Stage 3 hwbotprime is the best is g3258 5,3ghz :)

June 22, 2015 at 10:30:26 AM UTC

I'm sorry Massman , my question was for stage 2 (gpupi 2thread)

Can we use 4790k and disable cores/threads ?

Thanks

June 22, 2015 at 10:36:27 AM UTC

@george.kokovinis: Per core is to level the playing field a little bit, because not all of us can afford 2 E5's and 256GB worth of ram. G3258 is a dual core, and trust me you would kick its ass all day in XTU. But when it comes to reading ram at CL9, and a clock speed above 5Ghz , its a decent little chip. Competing isn't about who can buy the best stuff its about surpassing what everyone else does with what they are given. Continue benching, I encourage it, but don't expect to be able to BUY a win in a competition here. We come here to compete for first, not for second because somebody else has more money.

June 22, 2015 at 10:42:48 AM UTC

@nvidiaforever2 : That is what everyone else in the competition has done so far, either through bios or CPU affinity in task manager.

June 22, 2015 at 2:41:07 PM UTC

@nvidiaforever2 : That is what everyone else in the competition has done so far, either through bios or CPU affinity in task manager.

Only bios... - if you only set affinity at taskmanager you will still have cpuz show more than two cores and these will also be used by hwbot prime, gpupi or whatever multi-core thread you run :) - so please set core count to "2"in bios and disable HT if your cpu has Hyperthreading ability

Yeah, I tried setting affinity in taskmanager, but when it didn't work that's when I got confused. Not sure why it didn't occur to me to disable cores in the bios, rookie mistake I'm sure. lol Thanks websmile, bbaxter, & massman! :)

June 22, 2015 at 9:32:00 PM UTC

My first suggestion is to keep the tones down and be calm.

My second suggestion is to think twice before speaking, moreover before writing.

Being polite might give you some advantage in life.

Being rude is incorrect.

To the point.

No one is trying to buy a competition.

But, when you are speaking of leveling out, I have a very simple technical question to ask.

How easy is it to run a G3258 or a 4790K at 5ghz and how difficult is it for a 5960X or a 5820K or a 5930K.

Second technical question.

Are you aware, because since I own from a G3258 up to whatever you can think off and I have benched the hell out of them all, that in order to produce the exact same result with two threads in GPUPI with a 4790K and 5960X, you have to run 4790K ( two threads ) at 5Ghz ( easy ) and 5960X ( two threads ) at 5.5ghz ( impossible without LN2 ).

Now, where is the leveling out ???

It is even more ridiculous, since I have been provoked of BUYING results, of the way the competition is constructed.

Enter CPU load temperature MANUALLY.

Who can check that ?

How ?

For example :

I have a 4790K.

And I submit a result with the cpu tuned at 5.3ghz-5.4ghz.

Achievable with :

1) A very good 4790K with a strong water loop

2) An average cpu with a chiller

3) Any cpu with a single stage phase change.

And writing down the temperatures I like manually. LMAO.

Kaboom.

These things are extremely far from being serious.

If you consider all the above as reasons of an OBJECTIVE competition, cool.

I do not.

The owners of HWBOT and OC-Esports should and can find alternative solutions to avoid misinterpretation of results, tips, tricks, and other nice stuff.

With respect to all, despite the provocative insult.

We added an extra rule asking for sufficient verification for the CPU temperature using, for example, HWmonitor.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. We try to make competitions as accessible as possible for as many people as possible. It's not easy to make everyone happy and sometimes the competition rules are more friendly towards one type of system than the other. The most important is to have fun! :)

For stage 1 a screenshot with xtu temperature monitoring is ok ?

For stage 2 and 3 realtemp ok ?

Core temp is avaliable for showing temp or we must have Hwmonitor ?

Hey guys, just wanted to say im sorry about going off the way i did the other day, it's just a competition. But im chiming in to let you guys know that i am going to clean up my runs hopefully tonight, when I was browsing through them i noticed that some of my screenshots weren't to spec. Thanks guys and Good luck.

i may have misunderstood hardware sharing when i read through it the first time. i understood that it was not using 2 diffrent cpus, in the same platform to perform better in the benchmarks. rereading i now see that it is borrowing hardware to use in a platform for benchmarks that is not approved. im sorry, that was my bad.

Hello. I found something.

RealTemp, CoreTemp, etc. must be disabled.

This software has the option calibration sensor.

You can set the high value of the offset. And bench on extreme devices (SS, chiller, etc.).

CPUID HWMonitor - does not have calibration options. Only it should be allowed.

Thanks for the information! I will add this to the rules.

hi Massman do we really need hwmonitor for the stage 1 (xtu ) ?

Screenshot is not required and if u really want one u chan check temperature on xtu monitoring .

June 25, 2015 at 6:34:26 AM UTC

For XTU it's not required since XTU has temperature monitoring :)

June 25, 2015 at 8:56:48 AM UTC

Thanks .

Is it allowed bench with 2 CPUs?

Vallimua bench with 2 CPUs!?

July 2, 2015 at 12:38:51 PM UTC

Of course allowed. i-7 for stage2, Pentiun for stage3.

Take a closer look, many participants use two processors.

And please write to my nickname without errors.

July 2, 2015 at 1:23:11 PM UTC

Ok,thx

Sorry, Vadimua ;)

July 3, 2015 at 1:52:07 AM UTC

Just to clarify - yes, it's allowed

@ bbaxter18 : Nice play :D

Thanks. i need to get cracking again. Had a few hiccups.

July 8, 2015 at 6:53:33 PM UTC

Please make sure that your screenshots also show cpuz mainboard tab to prove that you used the mandatory Asus mainboard, seems that some people forgot about this. I cannot guarantee these results will be accepted for the competition without this

July 11, 2015 at 6:59:30 PM UTC

Why is the CPU temperature in idle must be higher than 20C? I think it's... not logical.

The Enthusiast League, according to the rules, water or air temperature must be higher zero.

When use ice water 1C, processor idle temperature of 6-8C. This is normal. This is by rules of the league.

Not interesting to use warm water to get a 20C in idle.

You're not fighting for a maximum result, you are fighting with a water temperature that would not fall below 20C.

GIGABYTE Z97 Last Hurrah Ambient Challenge : 'The CPU load temperature must be higher than 25°C'. It is right!

ROG OC Showdown Formula Series Round 2: 'No extreme cooling (<20°C) allowed'. Seriously, idle below 20 is extreme? Why the limit?

July 11, 2015 at 9:25:19 PM UTC

People can hit 25+ on single stages which you cant match with water cooling at all, rules are fine imho...

July 11, 2015 at 11:38:55 PM UTC

CPU in a idle heated very slightly.

The limit should be only for the temperature in the load. That's what I want to say.

July 12, 2015 at 12:14:10 AM UTC

Just respect the rules, it's not about Enthusiast only, but the competition rules is more important i think. Even if they say CPU Idle must be higher than 50°C. Just follow the rules, if not don't join the competition. The more important think is not all about gear, but skill and luck. Just my 2 cents.

July 12, 2015 at 1:51:42 AM UTC

I agree with you. It's a good competition, good balance.

I'm talking about something else. This limit doesn't allow to show the maximum result for enthusiasts H2O/air.

July 12, 2015 at 10:16:10 AM UTC

I used X99 until now.

Can I change to Z97 for all the rounds ?

July 12, 2015 at 2:03:27 PM UTC

yes, only make sure you use board by asus and if screenshot is mandatory, do not forget mainboard tab of cpuz^^

July 12, 2015 at 3:32:19 PM UTC

HW Monitor is already required and that shows the board mfg and type on the top data line. An additional CPU-z tab for mainboard is redundant as long as the board mfg is showing in HW Monitor.

July 12, 2015 at 4:05:58 PM UTC

Hwmonitor is needed for temp monitoring, it hasn´t been checked if it is reliable and safe against manipulation on Mainboard version and brand. There was one person on the comp that did not show mainboard tab on the results that were checked and I will not change rules that have been used for years because someone forgot to do what all others do and wants to make new rules in his own favour - you can send PM to Christian Ney if you think that rules are not fair and have to be changed, maybe he will overrule, but personally, without overrule, I will not accept results without CPUZ mainboard tab

July 12, 2015 at 6:47:55 PM UTC

Thanks websmile.

July 14, 2015 at 12:10:02 AM UTC

Hi, I have an Asus Maximus Vii Ranger, can I participate?

July 14, 2015 at 1:15:37 AM UTC

Yes Sir!

July 15, 2015 at 3:32:55 AM UTC

is my result in stage 3 valid? because if this not valid i need re-run. Thanks All.

July 15, 2015 at 3:42:30 AM UTC

I've forwarded the result to the moderators. From the looks of it, it seems bugged. But of course the result moderators are better suited for this.

July 15, 2015 at 3:46:50 AM UTC

Ok thank you Massman :D

Now i have a backup result if that result is invalid (i hope not) :D

July 16, 2015 at 8:14:19 AM UTC

THE CPU LOAD TEMPERATURE MUST BE HIGHER THAN 20°C - YOUR SUBMISSION IS INCOMPLETE

But....

Link to submission?

July 19, 2015 at 8:28:59 AM UTC

I had my new scores but I have a problem.

The new XTU score (with i7 4790K) is lower than last (i7 5930K).

I wish for the new score appear.

You should be able to unlink a score from the submission page. Check for "remove from contest" in the sidebar.

If you can't find it, let me know the link and I'll help you with it :)

July 19, 2015 at 10:01:14 PM UTC

Thank you Massman.

I just found the button "delete" on the submission.

I think it didn't that you explained me.

http://hwbot.org/submission/2925457

sorry, but below 20C

July 20, 2015 at 12:24:01 PM UTC

I had at least two submissions blocked because a core temperature was at 20C, not above 20C. The latest submissions still need to be checked by moderators.

Non of your subs was removed because of temps - I told you that mainboard tab of CPUZ is mandatory and now see that you did all of your results you uploaded after our conversation here in thread without mainboard tab again :(. I have to remove them all, and on temp, I have to talk to Pieter again because it say load temp 20° at stages but 20° at general rules, for me it means sub 20 idle is forbidden as well, but I will get second opinion before I spoil people´s fun

July 20, 2015 at 2:08:50 PM UTC

Thanks for the test - for the actual comp it makes no difference though as everyone participating had the same maybe "incorrect" measuring. This is in fact one of the reasons we want competitors to use same software for readout of values and hardware, so that we have same chances for all even if something works a bit inaccurate - thanks again for the test, interesting result

Websmile:

The rules page calls for "Submissions must include a picture of the rig (MB, VGA, memory, CPU cooler) during use, except XTU." That picture carries the responsibility for showing the motherboard if HW Monitor is insufficient.

NOWHERE in the rules is there a call for the Mainboard CPU-Z tab -- only the CPU and Memory tabs. I have strong objection to someone making up another rule and not placing it on the rules page, especially when it is made up late in the competition.

One thing I did not get from the above discussion is your authority. Are you a moderator?

July 20, 2015 at 2:33:26 PM UTC

This is under load.

I said on idle.:)

'min' value, again no difference.

It is common knowledge that you have to show cpuz cpu, memory and mainboard tab when a competition is restricted to certain brand and mainboard series. And yes, "hwbot staff" under my nick says I am a moderator. As stated before you could have contacted Christian Ney, you obviously did not do, and of 150 submissions for this contest you are only one! who did not include cpuz mainboard tab despite rules. You even got a personal heads up two weeks before competition ended and uploaded later results without cpuz mainboard tab again :) I guess there is no need to discuss this anymore
