Good luck everyone!

Ask : Kabini Catzilla 576P Stage

The rule said : Only use processors based on the Kabini core. (no GPU specified)

Is only used integrated GPU ?

June 4, 2014 at 1:50:39 AM UTC

Oh, you are right. I completely forgot to add that limitation.

Doing it right now, hope it doesn't upset anyone :)

June 4, 2014 at 1:50:51 AM UTC

Oh, it's full out. You can use any amount of graphics cards!

June 4, 2014 at 2:42:37 PM UTC

funni thing is i don't find a am1 bord whit 2 pci-e slots or more,do i mis somting ?

June 4, 2014 at 3:31:17 PM UTC

Full out is not interesting :( I really hoped to be an igpu only stage.

Now I have to buy a bigger board, instead of mini-atx and I think the platform loses its charm this way...

Plus it is easier to sell the mini-itx afterwards, because everyone is looking for these boards and not the bigger ones.

Agree, very weird choice.

June 4, 2014 at 6:59:51 PM UTC

SC2, Stage 2 - Is it 3DMark2001 SE or 3DMark03?

June 4, 2014 at 10:56:33 PM UTC

AFAIK there are no boards with support for SLI/CF.

Otherwise, making this fullout would make this stage cpu limited like the 3DM01 K6 stage. Very interesting though. Cheap platform also. 60-70€ for cpu+board.

June 5, 2014 at 12:09:01 AM UTC

SC2, Stage 2 - Is it 3DMark2001 SE or 3DMark03?

This please ^^, the stage says 3DMark01 in the title but on the stage page it says 3dMark03

Yes, but the one I was going to buy has one x4 PCI-E slot. I'm not even sure how cpu-bound it would be, but if we need a high-end gpu on this very cheap platform... it's a big "NO" for me.

I'm not even sure if it supports x16 PCI-E.

PS: So the APU only supports x4.

June 5, 2014 at 5:39:42 PM UTC

i assume HW released after 01/06/2014 is not alowed

I agree too, I.nfraR.ed-san

Expensive card win? There is no meaning of kabini. I hope purely igpu fight

June 6, 2014 at 10:27:23 AM UTC

because it would be cpu-limited it is imho indeed a meaning of kabini. for exsample: if u have a better kabini but only a 7970 u might get better results as if u have a bad kabini-sample but a gtx780 ti

June 6, 2014 at 12:17:16 PM UTC

Both card are high-end for me

June 6, 2014 at 3:12:16 PM UTC

ok in case of gt610 it wouldn´t be cpu-limited bei kabini :D

it doesn´t really matter to me because i don´t have a kabini, but i´m courious how much power it might have in case of full-out :)

June 6, 2014 at 6:52:03 PM UTC

i assume HW released after 01/06/2014 is not alowed

Why not? That would disqualify a lot of the flagship 290x/780 Ti GPUs.

the 290x/780 ti was released and availabla befor 01/06/2014

Reference models, yes. But something like the 780 Ti KPE or the MSI 290x Lightning was not. Where do you put the line?

I think you're reading the date in american format. Neither implementations where released in the last 6 days of this month AFAIK.

Wait for Massman's confirmation, but I'm pretty sure that this is correct. Any hardware released after the beginning of the competition is not allowed.

01.06.14 is the line.

Please remember that 01.06.14 is the first of June. ;)

June 7, 2014 at 7:33:47 PM UTC

lol serves me right! To think I spent over 20 years going DD/MM/YY too.

June 8, 2014 at 2:22:56 PM UTC

lol serves me right! To think I spent over 20 years going DD/MM/YY too.

Partially our fault too, it should be more like 01/JUNE/2014 to accommodate all users.

June 9, 2014 at 4:19:30 AM UTC

I will add this clarification to the competition pages.

Hardware for this contest MUST BE released before June 1.

June 10, 2014 at 3:12:38 PM UTC

This competition page needs revision/clarification: http://hwbot.org/competition/team_cup_2014_sc2/stage/1432_amd_s939_single_core_nv8000,9000_3dm01/

At the top of the page it says "HWBOT Team Cup 2014 - SC2: GPU Challenge - 3DMark03."

Then, below that it says "

Stage: AMD S939 Single Core NV8000,9000 3DM01 open - 81 days to go."

In the stage details it says "Stage Details

3DMark03 is open until 31 August 2014."

So, which benchmark should be run and submitted under for this stage, 3DMark01 or 3DMark03?

June 11, 2014 at 12:56:05 AM UTC

Good call!

I've updated the title of the stage. It's 3DMark03 :)

June 11, 2014 at 1:02:56 AM UTC

Good call!

I've updated the title of the stage. It's 3DMark03 :)

Looks like everyone that submitted made a mistake then, because all of the current submissions are under 3DMark2001 SE.

June 11, 2014 at 1:12:29 AM UTC

Oh ...

In that case, let's make it 3DMark01. No harm done ... everything updated!

June 14, 2014 at 5:39:28 PM UTC

If I may; a query regarding The DX11 PCI challange;

There is only one PCI ran on that bench ever made. I know PCI cards are not a popular HW to use but I would think that with just under 40,000 benchers there would be more than just one

Untitled_zps3b020b9d.jpg

And that one run is questionable as pointed out by Strunkenbold.

http://hwbot.org/submission/2280939_

Could there have been an error made when it was submitted.

Or am I completely wrong and DX11 can run on a PCI card.

If I am wrong;

Pardon my ignorance

If it is wrong;

Since no submissions have been made yet, change to DX9 or whatever.

June 15, 2014 at 8:28:31 AM UTC

I too believe it's possible BUT how many PCI based cards can actually run it?

I woudn't believe too many could since PCI cards based on a much older style slot are being phased out in favor of PCI-E slotted cards and production of PCI cards isn't what it used to be by any means over the last few years at least.

That would mean the PCI based models capable of it will be very few so pickings of what cards available to use might pose a problem if really wanting to go for it in this category, esp if having to shop around for one.

Maybe some folks here could do some testing and see because I just don't see the playing field within this category being too competitive as it looks ATM. I could be wrong and maybe there are several that can and I do understand that but believe it is a valid question to be asked as in "Are you sure about this" or somewhere along those lines from a competitive standpoint.

Hoping I'm wrong and maybe things will turn out it won't be a real problem with it.

June 15, 2014 at 12:47:45 PM UTC

Should be possible to run DX11 on a PCI card:l

Thanx for the response;

If it were easy it wouldnt be fun :).

I'll keep at it

Thank you

June 15, 2014 at 12:49:51 PM UTC

There are a few dx11 cards out there; GT 4xx/5xx/6xx and Radeon 5450 as mentioned. I think that's at least one in every team.

June 15, 2014 at 9:38:10 PM UTC

Is extra gpu allowed for the Kabini stage?

June 16, 2014 at 12:22:28 AM UTC

Yes

June 21, 2014 at 1:54:32 AM UTC

My bench SATAIII SSD died while running kabini @ 134MHz FSB :/.

It's really the SSD and not the controller, because it is not detected on my main machine too.

No way to copy the scores either.

June 22, 2014 at 4:46:01 AM UTC

can i use 610m?

June 22, 2014 at 7:37:11 AM UTC

No, just the cards in the list

Pci-e locked to fsb then, just as crappy fm2 :/ that stuff kills ssd and hdd.

The above result is submitted in wrong category.

That card sure is a pci-e version.

There is NO sapphire 5450 pci , with 1GB ram.

and sure doesnt look like a low profile pci card , in the photo.

A result moderator must edit it.

June 23, 2014 at 10:48:53 AM UTC

OK.

June 24, 2014 at 3:22:36 PM UTC

Been through Heaven D11 with a PCI 5450 didn’t get a score monitor doesn’t support 1680 x 1050 (as I remember) had the same problem with a 5770 the only other time I’ve ran the bench. As for cards the Egg only has two available based on the Nvidia 610 & AMD 5450, don’t know if there are others elsewhere so generally sounds very limited.

June 26, 2014 at 7:42:56 PM UTC

I'm thinking of making a sub in this category (PCI Heaven extreme) but don't want to put in the time if the rules are going to change. Can Massman or other staff confirm that we are sticking w/ current rules for this stage?

June 26, 2014 at 7:46:18 PM UTC

Why would it change? It's just hard to find the cards but it's possible. I already got bought a 610 PCI for this.

Unless it's impossible to run DX11 on any PCI card I don't see why the rules would change.

June 26, 2014 at 8:30:42 PM UTC

Agreed but just want to make sure before I make a similar investment. ;)

June 26, 2014 at 11:36:21 PM UTC

Guess I'll start it off don't know if it's any good I am working with a half dead board der8auer good luck with your 610 pci anxious to see what it can do

July 9, 2014 at 11:51:20 PM UTC

In the GPU subcomp #7 for 2x Radeon R7 240, it first shows 3DMark11 Performance is to be ran but when you click for the individual comp it shows catzilla 720p.

What bench is to be used?

3_zps85868744.jpg

July 10, 2014 at 9:32:49 PM UTC

Macsbeach submitted a run with 2x Radeon R7 240 for the 3DMark11 Performance sub comp #7 with the correct benchmark but the bot engine made it catzilla 720p submission

http://hwbot.org/submission/2579835_

macs_zpsf6321970.jpg

July 11, 2014 at 1:15:09 AM UTC

Ah, I see. Thanks for the report; the benchmark was incorrectly selected

Let me fix it right now!

July 11, 2014 at 5:43:05 PM UTC

Thank you Massman, its good now...

July 24, 2014 at 10:20:12 AM UTC

Allowed operating systems

remember that:

All Windows based, except for Windows 8 based operating systems (W8, W8.1, and Server 2012)

Disallowed GPU PhysX

July 24, 2014 at 10:49:36 PM UTC

I like the new idea but somethings wrong with the stage links. I get this on every gpu stage links.

Error message: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /WEB-INF/views/competition/competitionBenchmark.jsp (line: 116, column: 19) File "/WEB-INF/views/competition/competition.joined.popup.jsp" not found

+1 to this, really like the new layout of the comp so good job with that!

Links are a little broken at the moment though.

July 25, 2014 at 2:26:47 AM UTC

Yeah, looks like not all files made it to production. Waiting for the dev team to wake up :)

July 25, 2014 at 3:13:36 AM UTC

looks like the other comps are broke too.

July 25, 2014 at 5:51:39 AM UTC

Yeah, it's the generic competition stage page which is broken right now.

Soon to be fixed!

What happened to this 720p Catzilla 580 sub?

http://hwbot.org/submission/2596660_

Nobody from CP got any notification that it was blocked or deleted. It just disappeared.

August 10, 2014 at 2:36:38 AM UTC

It was reported because it has PhysX installed for the GPU, weather that makes any difference with the Catzilla benchmark like 3Dmark Vantage is to be seen.

The Cat screen states CPU Physics so the bench probably disables GPU physics anyway.

In the latest version of 3DMV it automatically disables GPU Physics

Half the submissions in the GTX580 Cat720p show PhysX enabled in the GPUz Screenshot.

And it doesn't seem to make a big diff to the score weather its enabled or not going by the subs and the clocks used.

There is nothing in the rules that states that PhysX cant be installed for Catzilla and if its not allowed all the subs thats got it enabled in the comp should be blocked as well as mine.

I will rerun the bench later in the week without PhysX installed with the driver and see if I can get a similar score.

I dont think I will see much difference.

August 10, 2014 at 2:57:50 AM UTC

Haha fantastic, another Physx issue. Time to go through all the Nvidia Catzilla submissions xD

August 10, 2014 at 9:20:55 AM UTC

I don't think GPU PhysX affects Catzilla though?

August 10, 2014 at 10:56:12 AM UTC

PhysX doesnt affect Catzilla my CPU physX score in the screenie is the same as others weather PhysX on the card is enabled or not.

Can I have my submission unblocked please.

http://hwbot.org/submission/2596660_

Thanks in advance

August 10, 2014 at 1:00:20 PM UTC

A little notification that it was reported and blocked might have been nice too. tia

August 12, 2014 at 9:10:18 AM UTC
