World Series 2016 Asia Computex 2016 Day 2 Qualifier

Extreme overclockers from around the globe to win prizes including a place in the World Championship Final at the end of the year. Qualifications are held every day from 11AM until 2PM and involve several benchmarks.

World Series Asia qualification rounds of three hours length will commence each day at 11.30am, except Tuesday May 31st which will begin at 12:00pm. At the end of each three hour qualification session the top two overclockers will compete in a 1v1 contest to determine which overclocker will compete in the Final on Saturday June 4th. Semi-Finals and Finals will take place on the afternoon of June 4th and also follow a 1v1 format.

Stages

Overclockers in possession of a World Tour ticket may compete in qualifiers held daily from May 31 to June 3. The top 3 scorers on each day wins cash prizes with the top 2 entering a daily Face Off to decide who may attends the Semi-Finals on June 4. Qualifiers center around 3 benchmarks and last 3 hours. After each qualifier, the 2 top scoring overclockers compete in a 1v1 Face Off on a randomly drawn benchmark. The winner is invited to compete in the Semi-Finals on June 4. The Semi-Finals and Final takes place on the afternoon of June 4 and also follow a 1v1 Face Off format.

Participation

Overclockers are welcome to compete for cash prizes on each day without limitation. In the case of more than 1 win only 1 place in the Semi-Finals is awarded.

All 1v1s feature a random draw using the benchmarks used in the daily qualifier. Each finalist has 1 veto that can be used during the benchmark draw. The highest ranking finalist gets 1st option to veto the 1st benchmark drawn. If the 1st finalist declines a veto, the 2nd finalist is given the option to veto. Vetoed benchmarks result in a redraw (minus the vetoed benchmark). Vetoes can only be used once per Face Off.

Hardware

The following hardware is provided for the qualifiers: CPU, motherboard, DDR4, SSD, PSU, monitor, keyboard/mouse and 1x 500ml thermal flask.

Additional Notes

  • Overclockers need to bring their own graphics cards for the qualifier, cards are provided for 1v1
  • Overclockers may bring their own personal motherboard to use in the qualifier. Only retail motherboards with a publically available BIOS are allowed and must be pre-approved
  • Only CPUs provided by HWBOT may be used
  • CPUs are drawn at random each day and then returned at the end of the day to be redrawn on the following day
  • CPUs and motherboards for the 1v1 Face Off contests are drawn separately and come from a different hardware pool
  • Overclockers must exchange their passport to acquire a CPU

Motherboards for the 1v1 are provided, with specific brands used on specific days. The following brands are used on the following days

  • May 31: ASRock
  • June 1: MSI
  • June 2: ASUS
  • June 3: GIGABYTE

For the Semi-Finals and Finals, finalists must use the same motherboard that was used in the daily 1v1.

Qualification Round Prizes

Each day the top three overclockers will receive the following cash prizes:

  • 1st Place: $500 USD
  • 2nd Place: $250 USD
  • 3rd Place: $125 USD


Semi-Finals/Finals Prizes

  • 1st Place: Ticket to World Championship Finals + $1,000 USD
  • 2nd Place: $500 USD
  • 3rd Place: $250 USD
