I feel I was mislead by the product information. It displays as if it comes with MS Server 2008/2011/2012/R2/ and Red Hat. I'm giving this one star in the hopes that this will stop anyone else from making the same mistake I did.

This is a very good system for a low-powered headless Plex Media Server. It has no trouble transcoding three concurrent 1080p streams to various devices around my home. Ubuntu Server 16.04 installed without a hitch, all hardware was instantly recognized and I was off and running.

Some things to note, the Thinkserver you will receive does not reflect what's in the picture. The one pictured has a slim optical drive that also supports a 3.5" drive installed into the same bay, while the 5.25" bay below has a 3.5" bay inside for another hard drive. The model you will receive has a standard sized optical drive and a standard 5.25" bay. If you want to install a fourth hard drive, you will need to purchase a 5.25 to 3.5 adapter. I have mine outfitted with a pair of SSDs in RAID 1 populating the 3.5" floppy bay.

Overall, you'll be hard pressed to find this much system at this price ($190 when I purchased). While it does have only 4GB of RAM, that's plenty for a single purpose Linux-based server. If you're looking to run Windows or a graphically heavier OS, you may want to double the RAM.

This is highway robbery. The price is cranked up 10x because these are no longer in production. It's a nice unit but not for more than $400.

Keep your expectations low. Works fine as a simple computer or server, but if you are expecting any true enterprise features, you are going to be disapointed. The Intel AMT engine built in does allow for remote start and shutdown, but that's about it. The motherboard doesn't expose any information regarding temperatures, fan speeds, voltages, or anything else you can get from competing BMC features. Hard drive slides can be finnicky to insert and remove and like jumping off track randomly. For the price, it makes for a decent beginner desktop, but anyone serious about learning enterprise computing will grow past it's feature set very rapidly.

Very well-built computer all around. The power supply is a bit weak, but it's comparable to most other computers. The back panel has a projector port plug, but I would think it more useful to have HDMI in the long run. The plastic clips holding the hard drives are very flimsy and cheap, the rubber spokes holding the HDD in just randomly pop out and you have to sit and work the rubber back in place; I would definitely replace that with something a little more firm or just having an open slot with places to screw an HDD in like most other computers.

Otherwise the motherboard & icore processors are fantastic and overall you get great performance and overall lifespan out of this PC. If you add some RAM, upgrade the PSU and throw in a video card you'll have yourself a decent little gaming machine.

Great value for the price. It works great as workstation too. We bought one first and liked it so much and buy two more within 2 weeks. Especially when we can reuse all the peripherals it is a cheap option to upgrade the old computer. The flat design of the case is great for putting stuff on top, save some space for the desk.
