    This is a great processor for a mid range home server build. if you're building a simple NAS, this is WAY over powered and you could get by with an old celeron or i3. if you want to do heavy video transcoding (i.e. through PLEX) or run multiple virtual machines, this will do you perfectly depending on the load.
    Transcoding a 1080p video through plex tends to keep the processor sitting arround 80-ish percent in my case

    Beware, you will need a Xeon compatible board AND ECC memory to use this processor, though if you're considering buying a xeon, you probably already know that. on the plus side, it's compatable with any LGA-1150 CPU cooler on the market. (so long as your case can support it)

    Acquistato per un PC Desktop da usare per l'editing video/foto/audio al posto del simile e più costoso i7 4771. Preso per il minore TDP (80W contro 84W) dovuto principlmente alla mancanza della GPU integrata, inutile se si usa una scheda grafica supplementare. Montato su una Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK, che a differenza della maggiorparte delle H97 e Z97 modelli base, monta componentistica di qualità migliore, il doppio delle fasi VRM e dissipatori più generosi, che se molti pensano essere caratteristiche inutili con una CPU locked, danno invece una maggior longevità e stabilità al sistema a frequenze di lavoro standard con carichi di lavoro costanti come un rendering video.
    Raffreddato con un vecchio Zalman CNPS9500 in rame, che dopo decine di minuti di rendering a 8 thread simultanei (stock turbo boost a 4 core di 3.7 GHz), non ha mai portato la CPU oltre i 52° (temperatura ambiente ~20°, temperatura CPU in idle ~23°).

    Un ottimo processore in rapporto prezzo/prestazioni. Meno costoso degli i7, ma prestazioni simili, e consumo energetico minore. Utilizzato su una workstation ITX con necessità di basso consumo e poco ingombro, e finora non ha avuto problemi.
