3DMark01 lovers out there? :D

August 1, 2010 at 11:05:26 AM UTC

hmm, i'm only able to participate with my sempron 140. i have no stronger amd cpu atm :P

but i think knut will go nuts on this one :D

August 1, 2010 at 12:02:36 PM UTC

I think this challenge will require a Thuban or Deneb at 6.5GHz+

August 1, 2010 at 9:59:55 PM UTC

I'm going to try and take it with a 955 BE. I don't think I can compete with the 1090's though :(

August 1, 2010 at 10:18:11 PM UTC

I think 955's should be better than 1090T. On average, Deneb clocks higher than Thuban at the moment ...

August 1, 2010 at 10:44:54 PM UTC

can we use each graphicscard? more than one?

August 2, 2010 at 12:02:04 AM UTC

No limits on XF or SLI?

I think it should be single card.

August 2, 2010 at 12:04:56 AM UTC

I would Prefer Single Card too

It depends what type of Thuban+Memory you got. I believe Thubans OC better on air compared to Deneb Cores. Thubans OC way better compared to Agena quads^^

August 2, 2010 at 12:35:36 AM UTC

Mmm looks like I'm going to have to get me a GTX 275! 5770 isn't going to cut it for 01! :)

August 2, 2010 at 1:24:06 AM UTC

I call 965/955 winning this over thuban.

Only one thuban in world can match 955/965 for raw clocks......

Only one board is capable of insane ram speed with thuban, that speed is sheared to 2000 when cold and bandwidth is not that great ;) etc deneb faster cpc.

August 2, 2010 at 2:06:06 AM UTC

I think it's really going to come down to the GPU. A good Phenom clock in 3DMark 01 should be enough..

August 2, 2010 at 2:22:49 AM UTC

Ok ;)

I caught a drift of sarcasm in your reply chew*. If I'm wrong correct me... Yes the 1090T memory controller issues will play a huge roll, but the GPU of choice is going to be the leading factor if you ask me.

Actually thuban IMC will not play a role, as i was saying there's only a couple board that clock highe but the performance is slack.....move to a couple other boards and all hit a wall at 920 and have performance of the board that can do 1000 max cold.

so since deneb can do 920....and clocks higher and has high cpc performance.....it's guranteed win.....it will play out like this.

The more effecient board tuned for ultimate overall performance and a very fast card excluding 5XXX series on ln2.

My prediction from ati camp is 4890/4870 with favor towards 4870 if someone really goes all out with mods.

As far as nvidia, i will leave that prediction to someone more knowlegable on NV.

I might toss up a result but i won't have time to play hard. I think i have one 965 left that would be well suited to 01 and a decent 4890, board will be CH3 or MSI.

I might even favor a damn good set of d9's @ 6-5-5 over hypers at 6-6-6.

August 2, 2010 at 8:16:57 AM UTC

No limitation on the graphics card.

As far as I know, the limitation will be at the VGA to a certain extent. But, 4890/GTX275 should be enough

August 2, 2010 at 10:44:32 AM UTC

Deneb with a Nforce mobo for sli two nvidia gtx200 series :D ?

Asus M4N82 Deluxe(980a) or older chip M3N-HT Deluxe/Mempipe(780a)

Is 100k 3DMark01 possible with AMD proc?

August 2, 2010 at 4:55:06 PM UTC

Yes, the highest currently uploaded to HWBOT is already 100k

This is the highest I've ever seen on AMD (SF3D did it):

no background wallpaper for this Challenge?

August 2, 2010 at 5:43:17 PM UTC

No :)

August 2, 2010 at 8:50:50 PM UTC

I think I have got some AMD CPU..... HO Yeah I have got 5 AMD K6-2. I will be ranked n*1 for a moment ( with a PCI card of course, hum some ATI Rage would be fine ) Let's try this on tomorow

August 2, 2010 at 11:06:07 PM UTC

Very bad for AMD in 2001, since intel + 295 can do a little better on air.

August 3, 2010 at 12:25:46 AM UTC

Will a TWKR be allowed?

August 3, 2010 at 7:40:55 AM UTC

This is NICE. Me likes!!

Gotta get myself a new 555BE or may be see if that 965BE is still that good! :D

Haven't benched 01 in long long time man forget about benching 01 on AMD :P

August 3, 2010 at 8:00:54 AM UTC

Sigh,

Rage won't run 3DM01

August 3, 2010 at 8:23:44 AM UTC

Will a TWKR be allowed?

Yes.

Newest C3 silicon of Deneb beats the crap out of TWKR anyway

August 4, 2010 at 9:08:39 AM UTC

I can't submit. I get something like this:

HTTP Status 500 -

type Exception report

message

description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

exception

August 4, 2010 at 9:18:23 AM UTC

Looks like the entire submit feature is broken ...

August 4, 2010 at 9:34:34 AM UTC

Good thing I noticed that. :D

August 6, 2010 at 12:59:08 PM UTC

Seems to work now :) my only contribution :P

August 8, 2010 at 12:30:16 PM UTC

Boo! Leeghoofd. No LN2 on the CPU!

August 10, 2010 at 5:44:27 AM UTC

I'm supprised how well the Calisto holds up to the Denebs and Thubans on this test.

August 10, 2010 at 7:56:59 AM UTC

Boo! Leeghoofd. No LN2 on the CPU!

Don't get me started :P, no idea how it scales with more CPU speed... this is all the H50 could handle...

Maybe a run next week on Gamer's Phase, but don't think so... far too much review work here :nana:

August 10, 2010 at 3:34:30 PM UTC

Haha ! Love the peanut butter jelly time. xD

Not got the right gpu for it but I'll have a crack on phase. Last time I tried 01 on amd it was a complete disaster so I'm not getting my hopes up lol.

We're not aiming for world records here, we're aiming for the highest possible :)

August 10, 2010 at 6:58:17 PM UTC

Oh come on.. Who will be the first to submit a 6GHz+ score? :)

August 10, 2010 at 8:35:49 PM UTC

If were allowing unconventional setups like a water rig with the rad in a box of ice water, I'm out. Thats not very every day accessable

wait tll someone puts up a phase or ln2 score, will make my water score moot point.

August 11, 2010 at 3:58:16 PM UTC

Yes but does Phase an Ln2 count as retail equipment?

August 11, 2010 at 4:17:28 PM UTC

Yes ...

/wink

Don't make me come up there bro!

Shove that XP rig w/ the Zalman in the freezer overnight... LOL that'll do ;)

-Should break 75k this weekend

August 13, 2010 at 4:03:40 AM UTC

I'll be throwing up my only processor I own on DICE soon. It happens to be a peach of a Deneb. + a modded GTX 275 and maybe I'll buy a 4890 and mod it too. Put them on DICE and see what I can grab!

- I've been searching up reviews for 3D01 benchmarks between the GTX275 and 4890. I can't seem to find any concluding results as to the better card of the two for this choice of benchmark. Does anyone have a link or something that has a run down of these two cards within 3D01.

August 13, 2010 at 4:22:25 AM UTC

Go for it!!!! :)

That way I wont feel bad when I sned in my DICE score lol

I'd like to see the score diff. between the 2 gpus too ;)

I still have to make my run w/ my:

-R5770

-GTX285 SSC hydro-copper

-8800 ultra

-GTX 460

Even thought the fermis have issues w/ anything "other" than DX11.. I'm thus far semi-impreesed with the results in 01,05,06, and of course vantage

The difference in the two is located in the Nature subtest. The GTX275 will give you roughly 1250-1300FPS whereas the 4890 might only give a 1100FPS score, which is like a difference of 3000p overall. Now, the 4890 (or ati) is known to be better in the system benchmarks (cars and lobbies), so normally you can make up for that loss a bit.

The issue is that there might be a nature 'bug' with the Ph-2 just like there is with the Nehalem platform. Basically, the Core 2 Duo platform gives you a single GPU Nature of 1500FPS easily, whereas nehalem (even at high clocks) will have scaling issues past 1100-1150FPS. In this case, the 4890 is a better choice because of the better other subtests ... but I don't know if this is also the case for PH-2.

Hope this helps
