By community request, an AMD version of the Rookie Rumble!

If this is for AMD processors, theres a small problem....XTU won't run on an AMD. I just tried and received the error that it was an unsupported platform and was exiting. My system is a Gigabute 970A-D3 with a FX6300. I was also considering using my AMD A10-7850K and my newest AMD Athlon 5650 DT.

There's no xtu stage...

chuckles...the hazards of reading something when you're tured and yer eyes are crossed.

Is using windows 8(.1) for the benchmarks allowed since AMD isn't affected by RTC-bias? I tried with bulldozer on 8.1 and it is ticking at the right pace.

1 core fx6300 @5200MHz --1300-1500 point.

Core off is never allowed and I don't see why it would be any different here. But yes you are right, a single core Sempron would be best for this stage. My Semprons do on average 4.5GHz on good water which should be around the 1400 mark which would be best

You can disable cores ... but the ranking will always minimum count the default amount of cores.

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I heard about the Rookie Rumble over on overclock.net I noticed on Stage 1 it is ranked by total mhz achieved, rather than total mhz minus the base speed of the processor. I went through the top five and subtracted out base clock speeds and it looks like this:

2. Asis_92 5199.72 (FX 4100 3600mhz) total gain 1599.72 +44.4%

3. Bigpoppasmooth 5032.81 (FX 8350 4000mhz) total gain 1032.81 +26%

4. buzzbuzzbuzz 4970.7 (X4 760k 3800mhz) total gain 1170.7 +31%

5. Speedfirecyclone 4895.96 (FX 6100 3000mhz) total gain 1895.96 +63.2%

I believe core off is allowed in the competition, but not normally. It isn't listed as a limitation at the top. (It's a pretty serious limitation if so, and should be listed right there)

But you don't get any points for it. I submitted mine as a dually, but it's only good for this competition. It doesn't show up as a listing at all on the 8350 page. Keep that in mind.

You want points - cores enabled. If you don't, or are willing to do it again - disable them.

All in all, it's about fun right?

I stand corrected. I got a solid 0.1 points, even with cores disabled

That is correct, we rank by pure MHz in the Rookie Rumble.

But I agree that percentage increase over base frequency could be more interesting for this competition. Maybe we can do that for the next Rookie Rumble?

Just seems to put us lower stock speed processors at a disadvantage when others have essentially bought half of their points by going with a higher dollar cpu. IMHO Speedfirecyclone showed the best gains and should be leading phase 1.

It's all for fun though- I'm just happy to be here!

you also have the problem then where you can have a CPU like the 8320 and 8350 which will almost always clock around the same on ambient, so people will complain that 8320 users will always get a higher percentage. Unfortunately you can't always please everyone but I do think it would be very interesting to have a stage like PCM2005 just have people doing some proper tweaking

PCMark is a pain to run for the experts, let alone the rookies.

Maybe Winrar would be a good addition. Or Cinebench?

Is that the "Liquid Nitrogen " is allowed in Rookie Rumble Cup ?
