Extra 100MHz stockfreq or 0.5x higher multi don't make any difference on Semprons as you won't be HTT limited using a proper DDR2 board.
What actually matters is core quality, which constantly gets better and better with AMD K10 (for example, year 2012 made Denebs can hit 7GHz at 1.72V).

Steve, i found your Problem on 790X:) Your HTT Link is pretty shure too high! With around 2000MHz you get much more Bus out of it. My Board does 450 with Cascade;)
