10 July 2015 - 30 August 2015: GIGABYTE Z97 Last Hurrah Challenge

Starting July 10th 2015, overclockers have a chance to win some great prizes by choosing their preferred cooling method and submit their best score within 4 stages. Most points win, it’s as simple as that! Participants have two ways to win, either they collect the most points to win a stage for the 250$ cash prize, or they collect the most points across all 4 stages to win the category grand prize which is ... to be announced!

Here are the category and stages details.

Category 1: Air/Water Cooling (Ambient)

  • Stage 1: XTU – July 10th until July 25th (CPU frequency is limited to 4GHz)
  • Stage 2: GeekBench-3 Multi Core – July 10th until August 10th (CPU frequency is limited to 4GHz max)
  • Stage 3: XTU – July 10th until August 20th (CPU frequency is limited to 4.5GHz max)
  • Stage 4: GPUPI for CPU - 1B – July 10th until August 30th (CPU frequency is limited to 4GHz max)

Category 2: Extreme Cooling

  • Stage 1: GeekBench-3 Multi Core – July 10th until July 25th
  • Stage 2: XTU – July 10th until August 10th (CPU frequency is limited to 5GHz max)
  • Stage 3: GeekBench-3 Single Core – July 10th until August 20th
  • Stage 4: GPUPI for CPU - 1B – July 10th until August 30th

Contest Rules

  • This competition is limited to GIGABYTE Z97 motherboards only
  • Submissions will open on the first day of the stage at 00:01 (UTC +8) and close on the last day at 23:59 (UTC+8)
  • Every submission must include the competition background and a picture of the rig.
  • A participant is eligible to win only once. If he is found to be the winner in multiple categories, the prize will go to the runner up.
  • Intel® Core™ i7-5775C, i5-5675C, i7-5775R, i5-5675R and i5-5575R CPUs are not allowed.
  • In case of a tie, the tie-breaker is best score in Stage 4. If there’s still a tie, the best score in Stage 3, etc.

What about cache oc? is it limited or not?

July 11, 2015 at 5:48:48 PM UTC

If Im from Extreme League, can I participate anyway in Ambient competition if I use an air cooler?

July 12, 2015 at 7:22:53 AM UTC

is the g3258 alowed?

evry time i try to sumbid xtu i have a error,

your submission is incomplete.and this is in the ambient challenge.

edit:

lol i think thad i found wy i have error's.

i am traing to submit in the ambient challenge, but it works in the extreme.

so i think the extreme league needs to submit in the extreme challenge.

July 12, 2015 at 1:51:44 PM UTC

No, Im from extreme league and could submit at Ambient challenge, so the problem is another...

July 12, 2015 at 2:36:58 PM UTC

Cache same or lower than Core, please, this is low clock challenge in tradition of all 1150 challenges done before :) - I will ask about the participation of extrem league member at ambient, but there are two challenges open, and in my opinion ambient is for enthusiast and air/water coolers. You can´t have the cake and eat it, to say it sloppy, if you are subzero bencher, participate at subzero contest :)

Discrimination :P

Got this error at all my GPUPi runs: "Invalid data file: Unable to decrypt the datafile"

Someone know why this happens?

Maybe this thread can help you - it is obviously some kind of stability problem that occurs at limit settings - try to run it at safer settings and test if it validates normally, it should give you a hint if settings or an os problem for example cause the problem

July 12, 2015 at 7:49:58 PM UTC

Will try later again... What about batch size and reduction size? Any rule for that? I saw a lot of different settings in different submissions on HWBOT

July 12, 2015 at 8:02:23 PM UTC

http://hwbot.org/news/11978_application_150_rules/

Batch size is not limited, to vary this is allowed as tweak to enhance performance. Please do not forget mainboard CPUZ tab, I am not obsessed by this :D - but hwmonitor is only for temp verification and not to show hardware used :)

July 12, 2015 at 8:06:19 PM UTC

Yeah, I put three CPU-Z (CPU, mems and motherboard) + temps in HWMonitor in my submissions :)

GPUPi for CPU 1B of Ambient challenge even doesnt appear if I submit score as normal submission :(

I tagged Pieter, but I think members of extreme league are not allowed to participate at ambient challange

July 12, 2015 at 9:04:18 PM UTC

I think that if we use air cooling they shouldnt be problem cause in rules it doesnt say nothing about that we cant participate. In my case Im from extreme league cause I used DICE, but only two times in about 3 or 4 years of OC, so I cant compete on Extreme League cause I almost never use extreme cooling :(

July 13, 2015 at 2:54:15 AM UTC

This is how it is. Deal with it.

Welcome to XOC.

Cache is limited to CPU OC. Will clarify in the rules.

Yes, as a member of the Extreme League you can participate in the Ambient competition.

I will remove the incorrect replies to avoid confusion on this.

Hm, can you send me your XTU profile? Send it to pieter@hwbot.org.

I will check why it doesn't work ... there should be no problem.

Can't see the picture. Please link to the submission so I can see what's wrong :).

I attached the image to this coment... This is the submission link: http://hwbot.org/submission/2920716_

I put the same info that in the submissions that I could upload to the competition. Also I can upload the submission file to HWBOT as normal submission, but if I put the file at the competition submission, it says it cant decrypt it.

July 14, 2015 at 1:15:10 AM UTC

So if I get it correctly:

- you can upload the result via normal submission

- you can upload the result via normal submission, and then link to the competition via the popup

- you cannot upload it straight to the competition page ("error message can't decrypt")

If so, please send the file to pieter@hwbot.org so I can see what's going wrong.

July 14, 2015 at 2:25:45 AM UTC

The competition even doesnt appear at popup, other competitions appear but not the "Gigabyte Last Hurrah Ambient - GPUPi for CPU 1B" round, only extreme.

I talked with Nicoklo (The other argentinian that is participating) and he has the same problem. I think the file is ok cause I could submit it as normal submission and also Im not the only one with that problem, so probably the file isnt the problem.

Anyway if you want I can send it...

July 14, 2015 at 2:43:41 AM UTC

Please do, so I can debug this :)

July 16, 2015 at 8:15:06 AM UTC

What am I doing wrong why can't I enter the competition?

Ah, you submitted the verification screenshot as system picture, not as verification.

Fixed it for you :)

When I was submitting I had no option for putting a verification screenshot, is it because I pushed the compare online button in xtu?

Do I have to save the profile and then use it manually?

July 16, 2015 at 8:34:25 AM UTC

Ah, yes.

Save the file, then submit straight on the competition page. That will give you the screenshot option :)

July 16, 2015 at 8:46:25 AM UTC

oh ok that makes sense. Ty!

I just got some semi decent scores, 1084 for 4/4 test and 1204 for 4.5/4.5 test. Some fine tuning maybe I can get higher like 1090 4/4 and 1210 for 4.5/4.5 :D

Some peoples in my ram thread helped me get my ram to work finally at 2800 c9, so I'm working on tightening everything up!
