Sweet! A contest to see who is the best at cheating...... I mean efficiency

February 5, 2013 at 11:41:09 AM UTC

The official wallpaper + additional validation rule for 3DMark11 is missing, please stand by while Massman handles it :)

February 5, 2013 at 5:06:28 PM UTC

Please refrain from posting results until HWBOT completes this competition website!

February 5, 2013 at 5:48:04 PM UTC

Added a link with the competition background to the page and added a rule for the 3Dmark11 stage, verification link is required. Good luck all!

February 5, 2013 at 5:54:25 PM UTC

Okay, rules updated, competition page finished! BENCH ON! :)

February 5, 2013 at 10:50:36 PM UTC

May I use the Xeon 3050 on the core2duo stage ? Its the same exact CPU as C2D E6300.

I'm not a cheat :D

February 6, 2013 at 3:00:01 AM UTC

This is very good, limited for all participants.

Just a question, if I don't use a EK Waterblock for the contest BUT I run a 1090T 24/7 with a EK Waterblock, can I enter in the lucky draw prize?

February 6, 2013 at 8:41:34 AM UTC

@Saint: No :)

@Raul SDT: Yes.

February 6, 2013 at 10:36:24 AM UTC

To all: Please do not use EIST/C1E/Speedstep as it skews the CPU-Z clock speed reading.

February 6, 2013 at 1:17:19 PM UTC

On this page http://hwbot.org/competition/ekwb_contest/ the rules say Nature must be sub 899.9 FPS for C2D / C2Q

But here http://hwbot.org/competition/ekwb_contest/stage/895_bonus_stage:_3dmark2001se_core_2_duo/ it says the limit is 999.9 FPS. Which one is it?

February 6, 2013 at 1:44:24 PM UTC

It doesn't!?

Standard point system: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1-0

May use any CPU

Use only one (1x) GPU

CPU frequency =<5000.50MHz CPU

=< 999.9FPS Nature (underclock if needed)

Only use processors from the Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad sub family.

Use 1 videocard core(s) in total.

Processor speed is limited to 4500.51 MHz.

Nature subtest must be =< 999.9FPS (underclock if needed)

A verification screenshot is required.

Please attach a picture of your overclocking rig.

@Saint: No :)

@Raul SDT: Yes.

OK, ty...I bought it for the team cup, but now it may give some prizes :)

February 6, 2013 at 4:37:06 PM UTC

@Faust, Geniben, MikeCDM: Thanks, looks like Massbo was a little sloppy, 899.9FPS should be the correct number. But since the results are already posted 999.9FPS limit will remain. Thanks for understanding.

February 6, 2013 at 5:01:05 PM UTC

So, limit is 999.99 fps on 01?.

February 6, 2013 at 5:43:06 PM UTC

Yes, correct.

February 9, 2013 at 4:35:51 AM UTC

I lay claim to last place, it's mine, Mine I say! *shakes fist*

February 9, 2013 at 1:36:18 PM UTC

I was going to say I can take that last place with my laptop but no, your 784 marks in 3Dmark2001 is impressive lol. Did you know that I can manage a higher score in a virtual machine, without a graphics card :D?

February 9, 2013 at 1:41:32 PM UTC

Haha, virtual machines pack some beasty S3 graphics :woot:

February 9, 2013 at 3:26:55 PM UTC

So...the idea is get the last place?....xD

February 10, 2013 at 7:20:26 AM UTC

Devroush @ so use your virtual machine and show us what u got :v

February 13, 2013 at 4:39:37 PM UTC

Nice, many results are already posted. Keep them coming and don't be (too much of a) sandbagger. :D

February 15, 2013 at 7:37:29 AM UTC

I have EK copper shim on my 7970, that counts, right? :D

February 17, 2013 at 2:34:03 PM UTC

I think that if you up cpu to 4800 during gpu runs and combined it is fine, just to keep physics below 12000... But not over 4800 that is for sure, 'cause that is limit...

February 18, 2013 at 2:53:48 PM UTC

Are you guys using the LN2 mode in 7970 and 680 Lightning GPUs? My score is very low in both test. Physics don't go above 12000 even with CPU at 5GHz, it's around 119xx in my case.

February 19, 2013 at 3:15:55 PM UTC

You need HT on and memory at high freq. with tight latency for good physics and combined score..

February 20, 2013 at 1:29:11 PM UTC

Ok...CPU is running at 4.8GHz with HT enable, so, I think that my problem is RAM since it's running at 2133MHz with 10-11-10-1T. What about GPU?

February 20, 2013 at 8:22:15 PM UTC

Oh yeah, one more thing - GeForce GTX Titan is not allowed at any stage of the competition!

Also, in case two or more users will gain same number of total points then the user with best result in Stage 1 (3DMark2001SE) will be the declared the winner.

February 21, 2013 at 1:43:03 AM UTC

Adding to the competition page.

February 21, 2013 at 9:18:27 AM UTC

Thanks Massman!

February 26, 2013 at 9:53:09 PM UTC

We have three people on the top of the ladder with 11 points, interesting! :)

5 days to go, time to step up!

4 way tie :D

February 27, 2013 at 10:24:43 PM UTC

Hehe, remember, best 01 gets the title even if four are tied. Theoretically the last one will get nothing, even though he has 11 points :>

February 28, 2013 at 3:26:57 PM UTC

hey fellas this is my first post on these forums. I have a question about the 3d mark 2001 se setting. I see that in most of the screen shots people are showing 1 of 7 under game test. How can I do that? what setting and where do i need to change that?

Also is an i7-920 @ 4.7 Ghz and GTX 480 @ 930 mhz core with a score of 70,061 normal?

That is because they run each Game Test one at a time instead.

Click on button 'Change' and select only one Game Test and run it. When it's done, go back and select another etc.

Score is low. First of all Bloomfield is bad for 3DMark2001. Second of all, GTX480 and other Fermi cards run under WindowsXP need a special setting activated in NvidiaInspector.

Thank you very much for the very fast response!!!

I am running windows 8. Do i still need to do that special setting. If you do have a link or the setting name?

Thank you

Thats the same setting for Aquamark right?

It's only required for Windows XP.

Thanks, I will try that...hope not be a sandbager...:D

SC1 cleaned.

Do you know any other setting that I can make to improve my score? Or does bloomfield just suck for 3dmark 2001?

February 28, 2013 at 8:50:47 PM UTC

You can maybe improve score a little bit, but will be much much behind competitive ones that get points, that combination of hardware is not good for 1st stage...

March 1, 2013 at 9:09:17 AM UTC

intel pentium E5700 cpu enabled?

March 3, 2013 at 3:07:01 PM UTC

Genieben give me the setting to change in nVidia inspector...but not enough time to test that.

Hope to see another competition like this.

March 3, 2013 at 8:22:18 PM UTC

aaaaaah the sandbagging scores are coming in :P

Nice scores there :)

March 3, 2013 at 9:46:35 PM UTC

master of the game :P

March 3, 2013 at 10:26:23 PM UTC

Seems like 4890 was winner for stage 1 and 3 :)...Too bad I did not have ln2 to try 8800gtx for stage 1...Seems that Leeghoofd did homework best :P
