Fyi, you must use this competition background: http://hwbot.org/blog/wp-content//hocfeb12.jpg

Good luck all!

A verification link is required. for 03?

does anyone have an unused key for 3DMark03 Pro to donate? the futuremark "buy now" link is broken!

February 1, 2012 at 5:07:47 PM GMT

It should be possible to get a link with free versions too, no?

February 1, 2012 at 5:14:37 PM GMT

not sure, but on the FM 03 page -> The Pro ORB features are only available via 3DMark03 Pro.

installing on a pc with internet access now to test

February 1, 2012 at 5:18:50 PM GMT

Hm.

Maybe we should just get rid of the verification link for 03 then?

February 1, 2012 at 5:38:57 PM GMT

Hi!

Pentium 4 D playing?

February 1, 2012 at 6:29:49 PM GMT

work in progress 60k pIV 3dmark03 :-)

February 1, 2012 at 6:31:49 PM GMT

with the free version of 03 you can not save a validation file and upload it later or from a 2nd PC with internet connectivity so now I am busy reinstalling windows on the bench rig to check if a link is provided or if it just "compares" your score (03 crashed on my main rig in GT1 lol)

February 1, 2012 at 11:31:07 PM GMT

It is possible to upload 03 scores and get a verification link without registering it. I did just that yesterday (completed the last few benches on my 2700K + GTX570 to get me in the top 200 enthusiasts).

February 1, 2012 at 11:34:37 PM GMT

Hi!

Pentium 4 D playing?

I wondered the same as well. One less processor to buy if they are allowed :)

February 2, 2012 at 12:32:16 AM GMT

I too want to know if Pentium 4 "d" are allowed

February 2, 2012 at 7:36:11 AM GMT

-snip-

February 2, 2012 at 3:04:10 PM GMT

and whats about p4 celeron?

it might be easier if you just say the allowed cores like in stage #1 or the socket like in stage #2 (but in that case just 478 possible because 775 would allow core 2 duo/quad too)...

February 2, 2012 at 4:03:00 PM GMT

pentium4

if its not pentium4 then its not allowed. simple as that.

**pentium4 = single core

February 2, 2012 at 4:50:55 PM GMT

Pentium 4s meant single core...

when they had dual cores they dropped the "4" nomenclature.

please confirm...otherwise my purchase is now defunct lol

February 2, 2012 at 5:30:57 PM GMT

that´s the problem: celeron isn´t pentium to me. and pentium D isn´t pentium 4. but the link shows the whole netburst-family including pentium D an celeron...

the definiton isn´t as clear as in the other stages...

February 2, 2012 at 6:13:13 PM GMT

if its "pentium 4"...it should only be "pentium 4" family.

including the dual cores is stupid because its not pentium 4 but pentium D.

I blame massman.

this should be clarified soon, its already day2

February 2, 2012 at 6:20:53 PM GMT

Hm, Intel cpu database should have a better structure. Updated the limitation to subfamily level:

- Pentium4 s423

- Pentium4 s478

- Pentium4 lga775

- Pentium 4 mobile

February 2, 2012 at 6:26:33 PM GMT

pentium 965/955 are pentium d family not pentium4 family

February 2, 2012 at 6:35:08 PM GMT

Updated hw database.

February 2, 2012 at 9:12:13 PM GMT

das perfecto bossman!

February 2, 2012 at 9:18:17 PM GMT

So only the single core chips are allowed, right? What about the verification link? Is it still needed?

February 2, 2012 at 9:20:30 PM GMT

I already was benching on my Pentium D 925... :/ Guess I will just have to grab my 630 or 640 then...

Online Verification for 03 is a bit tricky for competition by the way, owners of the pro edition would have an advantage. In the free version, you can't disable neither CPU tests nor Feature tests, meaning that free edition users would be limited earlier by their hardware. This is questionable in the meaning of competition, you aren't getting sponsored by Futuremark yet, are you Massman? ;)

// Oh yeah, and as the 03 only uses one core (or doesn't it? not sure actually), I don't see the problem of allowing Pentium 4 'D' CPUs.

February 2, 2012 at 9:21:10 PM GMT

pentium4 is single core. and yes its single core pain for stage3 lol

@mchief

you can cancel out of the cpu tests when it runs and it will still give you the results

February 2, 2012 at 9:26:57 PM GMT

1) You can press escape after GT4 and you won't run CPU tests

2) I added the verification links pro-forma (they give a little more security)

I wouldn't mind not having links. So, unless someone screams "no way josé" we can just delete that limitation.

February 2, 2012 at 9:30:57 PM GMT

thank goodness my name is not jose

February 2, 2012 at 10:24:26 PM GMT

Obviously Massmans name is.

I agree with you Masterchief. No sure why Pentium D are not allowed. They are Pentium 4 even if dual core. 03 is single threaded as far as I remember so a little confused on the reasoning. Trying to keep a level playing field? Then why allow Cedar Mills? Might as well change the limitation to: Must use Cedar Mill core.

Personally I would like to see if the Pentium D can keep up to the 7Ghz+ Cedar Mills that this limitation is trying to protect. More choices is always better in my book.

February 4, 2012 at 5:39:56 AM GMT

If I can find a little certain something in my storage locker this weekend, I should be able to submit a score for all four stages this month. Sounds like fun!

February 4, 2012 at 12:34:44 PM GMT

p4 65nm have an advantage in this test

February 4, 2012 at 7:31:07 PM GMT

Verification link is required? Or not? Still needed to post a score

February 4, 2012 at 7:59:10 PM GMT

Verification link is required? Or not? Still needed to post a score

yes Verification link is still required and the free version can be used as long as you are using the right version (v360_1901)

press escape at the CPU test's to skip.

February 4, 2012 at 8:36:08 PM GMT

Was inquiring since the previous posts in this thread indicate the requirement was being removed.

February 4, 2012 at 8:58:39 PM GMT

yup, that was my fault by running an old version and being a little confused by the FM website's info

February 7, 2012 at 1:46:23 PM GMT

i dont get it is q6600-kentsfield allowed?

February 7, 2012 at 2:05:57 PM GMT

It says so, doesn't it?:D

February 7, 2012 at 2:09:47 PM GMT

thanks

February 7, 2012 at 7:34:12 PM GMT

Physx allowed for stage 1?

February 7, 2012 at 7:46:10 PM GMT

steve

its not allowed. the latest vantage download preset performance test disables physx.

clean your inbox :D

February 7, 2012 at 8:42:18 PM GMT

^^ done! :)

February 8, 2012 at 1:27:30 PM GMT

I wish Wolfdale were allowed, got a E5200 lying around :(

Sigh

February 8, 2012 at 5:42:51 PM GMT

After some P4 benching it's obvious that 3D Mark 03 Pro owners really DO have an advantage concerning CPU clock freqs (even though it may be smaller than I thought first).

I always pressed Esc in the loading screen of the CPU test to stop the 3D mark, but I got several bluescreens at that point, because the CPU nevertheless seems to be doing the first few calculations of the CPU test before it can stop.

This is pretty mean... the 3D tests ran without any problems, and when it's done, it crashes due to unnecessary tests. Especially becuase I was around 20 points below Madshrimps Belgium's submission with my last run and lower freq.

Now i have to crack this copy and upload the result on another system with a normal free version...

February 8, 2012 at 6:02:31 PM GMT

you can buy the pro version

http://www.futuremark.com/products/3dmark03/

if you love benching i think 14$ isn't too bad.

February 8, 2012 at 6:04:30 PM GMT

No worries, just bought some Cedar Mills today :)

February 9, 2012 at 3:22:11 PM GMT

Is SLI patch (for example in the Vantage stage) allowed for P45 / X48 boards?

Thanks, HGyu

February 16, 2012 at 9:41:54 AM GMT

s478 defiantly out classed by s775 due to chip-set and boards. How is an 3850 video card AGP slot s487 to compete against x48 PCI 560TI card. Not a chance no way no how an s478 going to be anywhere but the bottom of the not so close winner runner ups. I'm doomed and same problem with ( pros' ) and non pro versions of 3dMark03. I can't even submit a score without an internet connection, someone pile on the dirt on my s478 graveyard competition.

February 16, 2012 at 11:58:41 AM GMT

Your misread the rules, it was meant to say "Only use Cedar Mill core". Despite that you can submit without an internet connection. You can save the 3dmark file offline and bring it to a computer with an internet connection to submit.

February 16, 2012 at 12:26:05 PM GMT

Thank you for the update, I still failed to see how a s487 in a p4c800-Deluxe or variant with a saphire 3850 AGP video card has a snow ball chance in hell up against a air cooled ceder mill let alone any other s775 in an Asus Rampage x48 chipset mother board easily reaching 5Ghz on air might as will slap in a 560TI video card for a death nail on any s478 on nitro or helium.

This going to happen s478 on nitro will still place last on the bottom against stock air fanned s775. Did I miss something, its class warfare mismatch. Even a s478 in a G31/33 chip set that does have a PCI slot, I still have trouble breaking 40,000 CPU bottled necked s478 even with my nividia 460 PCI video card. I'll score the best s478 and I still can't get close to a good s775 set up.

February 16, 2012 at 12:58:10 PM GMT

sounds like you know you have to run 775 ;)

February 16, 2012 at 2:48:29 PM GMT

yeah it´s a pity 775 is allowed ^^

February 16, 2012 at 4:01:55 PM GMT

775 is a classic :)

February 16, 2012 at 4:40:45 PM GMT

yeah for core2, but for pentium4 i like 478 best ;)

775 is to easy :D

February 16, 2012 at 4:45:21 PM GMT

having 4 stages is not easy. having the 775 helps.

February 16, 2012 at 6:58:25 PM GMT

Personally I would have liked to have seen all 65nm chips disallowed.

February 16, 2012 at 8:04:32 PM GMT

Asus P5GD1 is PCI-E.

Got this board here, I'll test it with a 4Ghz Northwood if I have the time.

Should be great to see how the 7970 performs on it :)

February 17, 2012 at 11:47:54 AM GMT

Massman.

I left with the inpression that you plan to remove requirement of verification link of all the stages. But i still see it. Are you remove or not?

February 17, 2012 at 11:56:44 AM GMT

No, the link necessity remains. The response was following a complaint that indicated 3DMark03 wouldn't give a link, but using the latest version it does.

February 17, 2012 at 1:45:03 PM GMT

Does Vantage provide an offline link? I could not find one while using Vantage so had to get Ethernet drivers installed in order to get internet on bench rig. Very annoying and hate having extra drivers running benchmarks

February 17, 2012 at 3:19:36 PM GMT

No, the link necessity remains.

I try to submit result in Vantage stage without verification link but ...

* A verification link is required. - your submission does not comply to this rule

Verification url must match pattern: http://3dmark.com/3dmv/[0-9=?]*

February 17, 2012 at 3:20:15 PM GMT

What url are you trying to submit ?

February 17, 2012 at 3:40:39 PM GMT

Perhaps the Advanced/Pro versions provide offline saving of a file but I could not find an option to offline submit using the Basic Version. I think Darth is saying that he doesn't have the ability to setup internet on his machine and therefore no verification link for Vantage

February 17, 2012 at 4:00:21 PM GMT

What url are you trying to submit ?

I dont have a submission on futuremark sait. I only have a sceenshot. I leave the field for this url clear. If that verification is no more require I think that not be happen.

February 17, 2012 at 4:41:27 PM GMT

vantage has a results utility page.

Massman said it's still required, no change about this rule. You might have missunderstood his response.

Преведено: "Не, изискването за линк остава. Последвалият отговор беше във връзка с оплакване, че 3DMark03 не дава линк, но с последната версия работи както трябва."

February 17, 2012 at 4:53:12 PM GMT

vantage has a results utility page.

Thanks Honda, have to look at that tab closer, I don't remember it looking like yours. I will see if the Basic Edition has the same functionality which I would expect it does.

February 18, 2012 at 5:23:47 PM GMT

Okay here is screen of the Results tab using Basic.

It doesn't appear that you can save offline results using Basic and you must buy a key for that functionality. Unless someone can direct me how to do it in Basic it appears those unwilling to pay for the benchmark will have to have drivers and the ability to get on the internet to participate.

February 18, 2012 at 7:20:51 PM GMT

i see the problem now.

you can only use the online browser. but i think it has enough information for the screenshot.

Even with the latest 0.5.9 version?

February 22, 2012 at 12:31:37 AM GMT

i try 0.5.7-0.5.9, and always this same, but for now i solve the problem caused by drivers (8.921 for XP)

I believe Everest or Rivatuner are suitable substitutes.

How do you upload a saved .3dr file using the free version of 03?

February 24, 2012 at 3:54:26 AM GMT

How do you upload a saved .3dr file using the free version of 03?

start 3dmark03, right click anywhere in the 3dmark window and you'll see an option for uploading. ;)

February 24, 2012 at 3:54:51 AM GMT

Right click near the top left corner of the program box (on the Futuremark banner), will open a menu that has "Submit Saved Result" as one of the options.

February 24, 2012 at 3:55:58 AM GMT

Thanks guys!

February 24, 2012 at 4:50:29 AM GMT

what about 3d01?

February 24, 2012 at 6:50:21 AM GMT

Great - have to redo 03. Unsupported SystemInfo Version apparently. Now I remember why I stopped submitting to the ORB years ago.

February 24, 2012 at 3:26:21 PM GMT

OCN for a hat-trick this month..!? GO TEAM

February 24, 2012 at 3:39:31 PM GMT

what about 3d01?

start 3dmark01, go to "online services" at the top and then "submit saved result".

did you even try to search for that option in 3dmark01? it's not that hard to find. :D

February 27, 2012 at 12:58:20 AM GMT

4 hours of play with this fu*king benchmark(2003) and i still can't make correct validation..

http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/1200/orbu.jpg

I've downloaded this update...

February 27, 2012 at 1:03:01 AM GMT

you don't need the 3d01 validation

i spent 1hr trying to get 3d01 validation too lol

February 27, 2012 at 1:22:21 AM GMT

this is 3dmark 03 validation :)

February 27, 2012 at 1:25:13 AM GMT

the picture reminded me of 01 lol

hmm i'll check 3d03, still setting up

February 27, 2012 at 1:33:24 AM GMT

he can't get valid in 3dm03.

we don't know what is the problem :/

February 27, 2012 at 2:05:11 AM GMT

Email one of the futuremark guys, they should be able to tell you the problem.

February 27, 2012 at 4:06:39 AM GMT

Had the same problem at first but then remembered about installing the patch.

http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark03patch360/

If this isn't the case I don't know what else to tell you but in my case it fixed the validation problem I was having.

February 29, 2012 at 11:52:44 PM GMT

Feb comp was a lot of fun :)

Up till 3am my time (Australia) benching to get some scores in.

When is the next one?
