Can't go to France to grab my rigs for the next 3 weeks (2 days ago I was in France though FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU), too bad this one sounds load of fun. Next time announce it earlier :P

Nice challenge, will compete :)

October 8, 2012 at 6:28:36 PM UTC

Uh there is a good chance to win something, if Christian Ney cannot start his loads of rigs...

Like this idea, thanks for feeding the addiction!

I don't mean to sound like an ass, but didn't we already have a 939 01 stage? or was that 03?

October 8, 2012 at 10:14:21 PM UTC

You thinking of the 06 one back in Feb?

October 8, 2012 at 10:38:55 PM UTC

Might be a good thing to tell what benchmark you plan on using. It's not mentioned on the entire challenge page. ;)

EDIT- Nevermind. I see the benchmarks on the stage pages.:o

I may actually stand a chance now since I just put my finger on a GTX580

Gonna try bake my 6800Ultra back alive for 03 :P

You thinking of the 06 one back in Feb?

Possibly. I remember fighting my ass off for that one:p 01 will be even more GPU bound I bet. The question is... what CPU to use, and can I get Ln2 in time??

October 9, 2012 at 11:40:51 PM UTC

One with a large cache :P

Remember Opteron 144@3.1GHz beating Venice at 3.4. Not sure about dual-core vs single core.

Dual core should be better, but if it's too gpu-bound, I don't know.

Finally some use of my AGP cards, but I'm not sure if I will have time for all this.

October 10, 2012 at 12:20:12 AM UTC

I have no idea... but I guess you need ~10% higher speed with a single than a dual. I can 06 at 3550-3600, so I'm thinking I can do a tad more for 01, although it's a weird chip. How much FX57 power do I need to match that+ :P

in socket 939 can i use am3+ maybe?

October 10, 2012 at 9:20:28 PM UTC

If it doesn't fit just push harder...

Wtf

October 11, 2012 at 4:22:49 AM UTC

LOL

October 11, 2012 at 11:09:23 AM UTC

I take it that the second stage has no restrictions on GPU number or cores allowed? Thought I would ask before setting up anything...

October 11, 2012 at 12:05:26 PM UTC

No restrictions indeed :)

Lol, thats an good idea about CPUs that dont fit :P

October 12, 2012 at 3:11:33 PM UTC

i always thought am3 has 939 pins looks like i was out by one lol

October 12, 2012 at 4:10:50 PM UTC

Cut one off, lol

For AGP stage are there some limits? I mean CPU clock, manufactor or something else?

The benchmark limitations will be revealed on Oct 17, 2012.

Isn't the suspense fun? :D
